Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Correct. The stuff there is for the "database"/file systems and that's about it. If your card is clean it doesn't have your personal data on it. IIRC your account info is saved on the system in the hardware "internal RAM" or whatever instead of the memory card. After all, they needed a way to have people sign into PSN/make PSN accounts without a memory card.

they do?
you can't buy anything on the psn with out a card, and you can't start most of the games on the system without a card... in general on the vita without a memory card all you can do is watch the welcome video and watch the preinstalled bubbles bounce... and maybe play like 5 games, I really don't think signing into the psn without a memory card is really something they needed to do lol...

that being said it is nice the info is tied to your system instead of the card.

edit: top of the page recommendation watch this and get hyped for this fall lol

$10.85 away from my free $10 :) Looking at buying SFA3Max, does anyone have it? I read on PSP a lot of people had a problem where a "No Memory Card" error would appear when saving, hoping that isn't the case with Vita.

edit: ugh, found someone on google talking about it. What a shame.

I bought it last summer and I don't like it. Might just be me, I was never a hardcore SF fan but the game is mehh at best.

SFA3 is objectively the "better" game because it has so many more features than the previous games in the series.

But my favorite is SFA2 because of its amazing presentation, stages, music, and announcer. A3 is just bland in every respect.

I'm sure you guys know that castlevania symphony of the night is available directly on PSN store on Vita, but that if you do the listing of ps1 classics its missing... So basically you can only find the game if you do a search for it

Never would have known if it wasn't for Neogaf. Wonder why it's there but unlisted? Anyways... Are there ANY other PS1 classics only available via the search method? Would hate to think I'm missing out on more awesome ps1 games that are really there

Thanks

*And no, don't have a ps3 so all those ps1 games via transfer I can't get :-(*

If someone who has played Persona 4 Golden tells me that Persona 3 Portable is anywhere close to as good I'll buy it. I just don't want to regret it even if it's only $10.

Persona 3 is every bit as good. Persona 3 Portable... not quite as close, but certainly worth $10 if you liked P4 at all, and unquestionably worth it if you don't have the option of the PS2 version.

Ugh, after cleaning house for DOA5+ last week, now I have to make room for Disgaea 3 this week...

Shuhei Yoshida: "hahaha, no"

We'll get 64gb when Sony announces the Vita revision with HDMI output. QUOTE me Vita-Gaf. It will come. It will come. And I will be here on that day. Raging.

Can't wait to hear all the complains when they announce a 64GB for $200 and how nobody is willing to buy one.

4gb = $20 = $5per gb
8gb = $35 = $4.38 per gb
16gb = $60 = $3.75 per gb
32gb = $100 = $3.13 per GB

8 gb cost 87.6% per gig of 4 gb
16 cost 85.6% per gig of the 8gb
32 gb cost 83.5% per gig of the 16 gb

so as we get bigger the cost gets reduced even more, by that pattern without a price drop in general the 64gb would go for about 81.5% the price of the 32 gb per gig or $2.55 per GB or $163 which would likely be rounded to $160 :P

personally I think the price drop and bigger sizes will happen at the same time, and we will see something like this

8gb = $20
16gb = $35
32gb = $60
64gb = $100

and then about 18 months after that we will see another price drop and end up with something like

16gb = 20
32gb = 35
64gb = 60
128gb = 100

I don't actually imagine that the memory cards will ever get bigger than 128gb, though I do feel that it's likely that the vita will get on board memory at some point which will likely be 16gb to start with, and move up if the vita gets more popular.

I would really love a 64GB memory and I would buy one for sure. In fact, I have 3 memories (4, 8 and 16 GB) and I have a lot of games more...

Here is my personal list of games:

so as I head to bed I want to remind people that the GDC is starting today and that on the 28th sony will host the panel "PlayStation Vita Development: From Start-to-Finish and Why You Should Be Excited About It (Presented by Sony Computer Entertainment America)" hopefully we hear something exciting from both.

Is there going to be a live stream? Hope some new games get announced.
Lets hope we get to hear some numbers too. How games are selling much better on the vita!

I think I'll be fine with a 16GB memory card. I don't download games over a gig though (I don't buy digital games that are readily available on cartridge). I just hope Binding of Isaac, Hotline Miami, and Lone Survivor have small sizes (less than 500 MB).

It isn't getting recorded for the GDC Vault so I assume there won't be a camera to livestream.

It is hosted by the gaijin games dudes, so I assume it will have a heavy Indie focus

The synopsis:
Ease of development. The ability to self-publish. And a strong Sony developer support group. Now is the time to release your game on PlayStation Vita! Assembled here are the developers behind four amazing hits ? Retro City Rampage, The Pinball Arcade, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, and Frobisher Says! ? to discuss their experiences developing, publishing, and selling their games on PlayStation

Isaac is 512mb on Steam.

Hotline Miami is 173mb on Steam.

Lone Survivor is 105mb on Steam.

I'm not saying they'll be the same size or anything though.

OK so I got my self 2 things to keep me going till SS release.

First up
Final Fantasy IX.

I am enjoying it so far (only about 3 hours in). Point of note:
• The graphics in most areas hold up rather well. There are some really well designed places to go and apart from the resolution they look really nice.
• The world map is pretty damn ugly though and the in battle graphics are just about OK.
• The battle system is annoyingly slow. Hopefully I will get used to it. The load of each battle then the annoying animation of the camera swooping about before combat starts. I turned combat speed up to fast as I think that helps the players move timer go faster.
• Story seems fine so far.

Only issues the battle speed. Hopefully I get used to it as Im liking the rest so far.

I also got
Munster Hunter Freedom Unite.

At £7.99 Its worth a punt to see if the addition of felynes that come with you on hunts makes a difference. And to be honest it did. Definately helps to some degree remove a few frustrations. However it does just make some of the other ones a little more obvious.

So after another 12 hours or so (had 20 on this character on freedom 2) I have kinda got fed up again.

The biggest issue now.

The game basically leaves you in the dark. Am I missing something or is there no where to find out if the weapons you are using are not good enough, the armour not good enough and a rough Idea of how tough the monster are bar looking it up on google.

I first grinded up Kut-Ku armour. Easy. That thing is a 2 star quest and im on the three stars. Then I upgraded my weapon a bit. Time to fight a Plesioth (the water wyven thing)

First attempt. - I die. I was learning its patterns so this is expected. Thats fine.

Second attempt. - Well its hip check is the dumbed moved I have seen in a game (it hits you even if it doesn't physically hit you). So I will try a bow. I read up on google its weakness is fire and I have no idea if you can find that out in game. So I get a fire bow.
I run out of time attacking it. I hit it a lot. I guess the weapon isnt strong enough. Is that how you find out? by not being able to kill it within the time limit? ugh.

Third attempt. Back to long sword. go for the head. Use three sonic traps. I kill it with literally about 2 mins to spare.

I think this is when you are meant to get that feeling of accomplishment but instead I just have a feeling of "finally... about bloody time ugh". After about the 25 - 30 min mark I just kinda wish the fight was over. However I guess I still needed a better weapon? However to upgrade the weapon I needed the 4 star quests so this is kinda annoying.

Anyway quest unlocks the green plesioth quest which is also 3 star and earlier in the list..... so is it just bigger and does more damage (like the old lady tells me?) or does it also have more health. I mean its the same lvl quest? I build a great sword that is a lot of damage and fire damage. I run out of time.

You know what. Give me some information in game please because I dont want to have to look up on google basic information that should be available to me. Mainly
• Is my gear good enough or do I need to upgrade. Some kind of hint would be nice
• A rough Idea of how much damage is needed to kill the monster. Not a health bar no, just a rough idea what what I should aim to build to take it down.
• What the monsters weaknesses are. At least a hint.

Can some one let me know if any of this can be found in game because if I am just missing it then I will happily go back and try more because some things about this game are great but other things are so frustrating.

I mean I still hate the controls but I got used to MGS2's controls and I am used to these controls despite hating them.

I have no problem with games being hard. Thats fun. I can learn patterns of the monsters and how to attack them. Thats also fine. But the combination of not knowing if my gear is good enough and having a time limit for some odd reason on the fight leads to so much of my time being wasted its just not worth me playing at this point. I don't want to waste an hour each new fight simply because my gear isn't good enough. If its because I play bad and die thats fine. But run out of time because I couldn't do enough damage with no hint that was what would happen..... bad design. At the very least, get rid of that damn timer. Why does it even exist? let me know I need better gear because it took me over an hour to kill it not because I ran out of time for some reason.

So anyone in the know. Please let me know if I am missing something and what. I would really appreciate it because there are things I really like about this game.

From my limited experience with it (around 50 hours) i can say that there is no indication for this in the game. There are some documents in the village shop about the monsters, but i have never used them so i dont know how much info they offer.

What i can recommend is that you should upgrade your armor and weapon whenever posible, and have a lot of patience (there will be enemies that require >45min to beat). The last is the reason why i stopped playing: I like the game and the monsters are not hard once you know the patterns, but they require so much time.

EDIT: Also, hire some felynes. They might not do much damage at first, but they keep the enemy entertained.

Thats pretty much my exact issue with it.

Learning Plesioths patterns wasn't hard. Basically attack when he does water spurt thing. But the time it takes to kill it is just to long for me to enjoy fully.

Im pretty upgraded as much as I could. Maybe there is something I could upgrade to that I havn't realised yet. However, again, i can only work out if I can get the parts for said upgrade by looking it up on google. I just find this annoying.

Do I need to do ALL 3 star quests to unlock the next set. Because the green plesioth didn't appear until I beat the normal one.

And yeah I have felynes. Thats why I got unite in the first place as I only had freedom 2 before. I transfered my character.

You don't need to do all the missions, just enough for the lady to show you the special one, iirc.

Maybe il give it another go.... i dunno. I got other stuff to play as well.

I need more boss cards in Ragnarok for the trophy.

Anyone here with these cards
Hrungnir
Surt
Loki (floating)
Orc Shaman
Bronzed grendal

Maybe able to send them to me via near?

I can send others back if needed.

Grinding them is kinda annoying.

Just saw the ESRB has listed a Jak & Daxter Collection for Vita. If this includes Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, then the Vita will already be the perfect platform for me.

Metal Gear Solid 1-3, Jak & Daxter 1, Final Fantasy X, Persona 4 among others, wow.

Anyone know what this Vita or maybe PSP game is? Its like a cross between Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy visually and someone is using a muramasa?

Its not muramasa the demon blade

The answer to all your problems is to hit the monsters in the head with the hammer! At least that's what I did. Playing the new 3DS game now and so far I haven't had any issues with stuff yet. The monster from MHFU seem like they are later on in this game. Plessi is in it but not for a good while. It also helps that you can fight stuff in the water in this one so your not having to try to fish everything out all the time.

That said playing on a 3DS makes me miss the Vita formfactor and screen so much! Worth it for some Monhun though.

Also FF9 is godlike.

LOL. I cant get on to well with the hammer. long sword is my fav.

Im just trying to get over my frustrations to enjoy the game but I am not sure I will be able to.

Prob just plow on with FF9 instead and also try and get the last cards to plat Ragnarok.

Also I have asked this before but never had an answer.

Earth Defence Force
I never see more than 1-3 games on there. Sometimes I see zero. Anyone else in the EU get this? Also should I be able to see US games as well? Is there just no one playing this online?

I really would love to play this more as its a blast coop. But I never see any games up.

sounds like a ps2 :p

It is great to be a vita owner with masterpieces like

Persona 4 Golden
Metal Gear HD Collection
the upcoming FFX HD
etc etc

and then we 'll get a nice special vita version of Machinarium tomorrow, yum!

this is going to be a letdown I bet, some JP centric football management game : (

Football Manager is among SEGA's best and successful titles.
FM for Japan doesn't sound that bad, but I'm surprised they haven't gotten such a game til now.
For that matter, FM '14 for Vita~

I don't know if that's it, it was a game being played on the bus. That's not out is it?

Not out yet...
Can you describe the game better? 2d or 3d, action or rpg or whatever, good or bad graphics, realistic or anime style and so on...

I'll have to ask my friend, she's the one who was talking about it and describing it as such. Will get back to you.

I'm not talking about Football Manager (I wish).

Apparently Sega has another football management series they publish only in Japan.
