Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

Alrighty! Got GameCube Princess.

I had played up to the Forest Temple on my friend's Wii (Princess), but now I've been able to really sink into the game and play in the safety of my own home (the Wii's f*ckin' dangerous)...

Just about the enter the third dungeon... Have numerous nitpicks of the game, but I'm really enjoying it thus far...

Really disliked the waggle, for what it's worth...

What the f*ck is up with the Hawkeye? :lol GOTS A F*CKIN' GUN, BRA! Didn't see it until after I hit the bloody pole...only took two shots, though...

SNIPER ARROWS
ARE AWESOME AND YOU CAN'T DENY IT. :lol

Just finished the 7th dungeon.

I said wow multiple times. People were saying GOTY after the 7th dungeon when they were playing the Wii version earlier, now I know why. Absolutely insane. One of the best boss fights ever for sheer scale (wasn't very difficult though). I just don't quite know where they'll go from here with dungeons in the next Zelda. I'm really not sure how they'll compare.

Anyway, a couple of questions for those who have finished the game and/or gotten 100%:

1)
Do dungeons 8 and 9 have heart pieces in them?

2)
Do you get a full heart container after dungeon 8?

1) I believe so, but don't quote me on that

2) Yes

Question: (Spoilers on an item *minor*
not needed for game completion
)

Ok, so the Hawkeye. I did that pole thing back before I knew this item existed, and I hit the pole on my first try. I got the heart piece....

I haven't checked, but does that mean I can't get this item?

You can get it. You have to buy it.

Was I the only one who
in the 6th dungeon, didn't know that pressing B would make the statue swing?
Seriously, took me ages for some reason.

Spoilers concerning 8th Temple:

Just going back and re-visiting the temple. How freaking nice are the colour schemes and overall art design in the twilight realm. I LOVE the look of Link's sword glowing yellow, admist the ambient green/blue lighting around him. I love that his sword and the platforms that light up also light Link. If Bungie are reading, THAT is how your energy sword should light up the character.

Seriously... lightsaber link was too awesome. It wasn't even a lightsaber... it's just how SUPER HOLY MAGICAL SWORDs should look! And this is really the first time I've seen the effect done so well! So right!

Yeah, when the Twilight left Hyrule, I was really anxious to have that type of "mystical" feeling you had while you were in the Twilight Realm. So, Twilight Castle was a nice change.

Still I think the best game of the year. There are some down points (I'm thinking the tear hunts, a few of the minigames being rather frustrating, the
escorting the Sols without the Master Hand taking it from you... although I saw some Ico in this part
, and
the statue hunt before going to the sky kingdom
) but the the excellent cinematics, puzzles, and awesome environments that you keep hitting make it worth it.

Just finished the 8th dungeon... awesome boss fight, I love
how the music keeps constantly changing during the fight, and especially at the end when the music gets all strange and goofy
. Now, to wrap up collecting heart pieces (I'm missing 9), bugs (missing 4), and maybe attempt the
Cave of Ordeals
before going for the end guy. This is where I'll finally consult the strategy guide to find the stuff I'm missing. Actually I used it once before, dungeon 6
because I didn't realize that you can press B to swing the statue's axe to break down the gate.
. Good to see I wasn't alone in that one.

One question though.

There's a treasure chest directly south of the south gate of
Castle Town
, on a column in the middle of a fountain, that I see no way of getting to. How do you get to this?

Look at one of the columns there is a clawshot point at the top. When you get up there you will notice tracks for the spinner, use it and the tracks lead across a beam, jump off as you go over that chest.

Some of the most well hidden chests are money chests, I am afraid people might miss them.

I just got the GC game a few days ago and couldn't stop playing.

Three dungeons down.

16 hours on the clock.

My game freezes. I reset and load it up again and what do I see?

MEMORY CARD MUST BE FORMATTED

What? ****! Noooooo!!

I was literally sweating with anger.
I'm still a little shaken.
I don't know yet when I'm gonna start up again. I need a break before I'm gonna collect any more f*cking tears

Hey once you know how to do it, it should take 1/4 of the time.

You do know
you could stun the hand with the clawshot right?

I have a problem with a mini-game :
the one where you have to speak to 20 cats in the hidden village : the last cat is on the second floor, in the last house(it has 2 breakable windows on each side, in front of the old woman's house), and I cant reach it.. cant even z-target to speak to him from the small table. Tried throwing bombs, arrows to make the dam pet move, to no avail :(

turn into link and then use hookshot to grab fence(on the left side connected to the second floor) I think you can get the rest on your own.

Ok thanks for everyones answers.

And yeah i guess midna is one of my favourite characters. i like wierd things like that. golum LoTR, is another fav of mine.

I guess I have to wait and see for everything. Is the twilight thing going to be explained a bit better? I have no idea why I turn back into Link when I leave. Midna said I shouldn't, and once I didn't. Is it the Spirit god that did it, as a thank you?

I still don't get why I don't become a wondering spirit in the Twilight, oh wait, Link is the chosen hero thats why. So it must be the gods that put him in the real twilight realm. Oh i don't know. AAAHhhh

PS - My best game ever award goes to......... TP.:) And apparently it only gets more and more better. Is it wrong to want to be Link, as a grown man. I ain't no teenager no more. Someone was suggesting sex with the disc, I'll wait till I get to at least the 6th dungeon, I ain't no whore. Nobody has mentioned that awesome setting with the ghost warrior (Links dad/ancestor/previous Link). Its all white and the castle. WOW.

Well I used the
arrows. 3 did the trick, and yeah that made things a lot easier.

Yeah, but that isn't much of a consolation. I was loving every minute of it too. I hope this doesn't leave a sour taste in my mouth for the rest of the experience.

Oh well, that's what I get for using third-party peripherals. Damn you to Hell Mad Catz!!

Also,
Is the third temple the Water dungeon equivalent or Jabu Jabu's belly equivalent? Is there a tougher water dungeon down the line? I was a little disappointed with the difficulty of it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but when you're fighting
Ganon
if you take out your fishing pole he follows it. Kinda funny

Funny easter egg, another one is in the fishing place, if you roll and hit the counter on which the fishing place owner's bird is on (roll and hit near the bird), and you do it three times, she gets pissed and kicks Link out, and if you try to come back in, Link has to apologize to her.

My best game ever award goes to......... TP.

I actually have to agree with this. Best 3D Zelda yet and just so unbelievably compelling, well designed and polished. Surpasses Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask as my favourite in the series.

That's what you get for buying 3rd party memory cards.

Could someone explain the save system in this game to me?

I spent the better part of yesterday evening working through the second dungeon, saved and called it a night. Today, I load up my save, only to find myself deposited at the very beginning of the freaking dungeon. It's probably going to take about 45 minutes of backtracking to get back to where I was yesterday.

Am I missing something here? I remember the save systems in prior Zelda's being slightly annoying, but nothing quite this retarded.

Is there at least a way to tell when you've reached a respawn point and can safely exit without the prospect of massive backtracking next time you boot up?
Progress in Zelda dungeon is basically measured in unlocking shortcuts to places from the entrance. It usually works very well that way.

Exactly.

I'm still on the 4th dungeon (haven't had tons of time). I managed to light the four torches and move on to the next area. Knowing how the save system works, when I return to the game, that door will be open. Yes, you are placed at the beginning of the dungeon, but your actual progress in terms of completing the dungeon is not lost (just your position at the time of saving).

I have a dilemma. I don't want to post a new topic about it, because it'll get closed, lawl.

Okay, I have recently gotten the itch to buy either the Gamecube or Wii. I've had a GCN before, nice system.. but it's dead. However, it's also dirt cheap these days. It's an inexpensive way to go and play my favorite GCN games and the new Zelda: TP. I would love to have a Wii, though. I don't see myself getting one anytime soon, because money is too tight for me to spend $300 on a Wii + Zelda (I'd rather buy a PS3 first... shhh). So my question is, would getting a GCN be a better option for me? Or is the Wii a better investment because it's ALIVE and is backwards compatible?

Either way, I want some Zelda in my life.

Well, if you don't see yourself getting a Wii anytime soon, then you've kind of already decided :P

Get a GC and the game. It's still the same awesome game regardless of platform.

Well, if I was you, I'd get the Wii, but if you really don't want to spend that $300 on a Wii and Zelda (don't worry, I understand, that's why I didn't break down and buy a Wii either), just get the Cube and Zelda, like you said, it's dirt cheap. Or if you have a friend who has a cube, that would be even better because then you can just rent the game or something and borrow his Cube.

Does anybody have the Malo concept art?

It was released more than a year ago. I thought the Zelda TP page on Nintendo.com would still have it, but it seems they deleted all their pics. Can't find it on any other website either. :(

Out of curiosity, can someone tell me how I get into the hidden village? Seems like the passage is blocked off, and bombs won't open it up.

I'm actually surprised that some of you think getting a Cube would be a good move. I was honestly expecting the opposite, since the Wii is so huge right now.

i think everyone's a bit reticent at this stage to suggest that it's worth buying a wii just for zelda to anyone, as it inevitably causes more arguments than it's worth.

you'll enjoy the shit out of it wherever you play it; it's fantastic.

anyone else not feeling all that much fun when you play as a wolf?
Yeah, I don't like it much. Good thing it's just a small fraction of the game in sum since playing with true Link is leagues better.

So I don't play as the wolf much? I'm glad...I just got the game yesterday and am at the first temple after turning back to true link.

I loved playing as a wolf. I thought it was an interesting design choice that forced you to navigate early areas first with only one goal, which was then later opened up to the possibility of subquests and hidden items. It was teaching me the lay of the land before giving me free reign. The only time it was frustrating was
the very end of the last tear run, which was a little too long and spread out
.
