Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

Someone answer my question! I still don't think I understand the meaning of the dream with the Dark Links and evil Ilia. :/

Easily the most fukked up anti-Nintendo thing that Nintendo has ever done....:lol

about that strange cut-scene (warning end-game spoilers!)
I thought Lila was gonna stab Link. but she ended up stabbing nothing, the knife or dagger felt to the ground. but evil was the intent. it was the most bizzare thing to happen in the game, even more than Zant tilting his head/snapping his neck which in turn snapped Ganondorf's neck at the end of the game.

question i asked that i don't think got a response. DID ANYONE STEAL potions or lantern oil from the bird right outside of the Forest Temple, and laugh about getting away with it? I was wondering if this behavior would result in something happening later in the game.

Wii need more games with choices and consequences in them. more interactivity.

We talked about this way back in the thread but yeah, I did that too. But on accident lol. I then was going to pay him out of guilty but he attacked me, then I was like , **** no. But then I wanted to buy some later and eventually paid him my dues

btw, someone really needs to put out that 5th dungeon boss music. I want to hear it again, I just remember it being awesome

Please give us a warning before you post endgame spoilers in the same tag as spoilers that occur halfway through the game, k?

Just finished temple 4. Holy ****ing shit this game just got 10X better, with that boss fight and that item. I hate how theres only 3 saves slots, I want to be able to do these things again. I still can't get over the scope- it seems that this is where OoT would have ended, length wise. Maybe not- but this is one gigantic game. Hard to believe that with all Ive played, theres still so much more. And it looks to be pure awesomeness. You certainly get your $s worth.

Wait, I thought you beat the game already?

I love the reference to Link's Awakening, too.

Nope, I never said that. I started off with the wii version, due to some circumstances quit for a couple of weeks, then restarted with the GC version recently.

I finally finished the game a few hours ago. Yay!

What a truly, truly fantastic game. It did such an amazing job telling the story and blending together different types of gameplay, the pacing--I loved the pacing--was perfect, and I really, really enjoyed a lot of the dungeons.

I can't stop gushing!

I picked up the Cube version and put 14 hours into it, and while its an extremely polished game its getting tedious already.

It all boils down to finding tears, learning a new ability, then getting a new item to use in that dungeon and on and on.

I just got out of the mines and I'm starting the new area and its already feeling repetetive to me.

I don't if the Wii version makes the game play extremely different, but there needs to be an overhaul in the Zelda gameplay.

I'm 14 hours in and I feel bored with it already, and I know I'm not close to finishing it. I'm not trying to knock the game, what it does, it does great. Its just getting stale for me.

Dont worry-
that will be the last time you will ever collect tears. The game changes significantly after that point.

Can you explain in more detail without spoiling anything?

you wont have to attack the bugs after this point, and the design and presentation of the dungeons change pretty radically from here on out. The first three dungeons give you pretty much everything you'd find in a standard Zelda game. Dungeon 4 onward is where the new shit starts getting going.

mysticstylez said:

Actually, there are no more tears of light, period, after the third collection. Dungeons 1-3 make up an OoT retread, of sorts. Beyond that, the story takes a crazy 180, and TP becomes very much its own creature. Stick with it, the best (by far) is yet to come.

(ot) im posting via Dreamcast with Dream Passport 3....
my PC is out of commission because of freaking windows!
blue screen of DEATH. the other PC is being used right now.
aghhhh.

anyway, I beat the GameCube version last night, so now ive been through
both versions to the end.
in the 8th dungeon, Palace of Twilight, something weird happened. when i was running away stealing the 2nd Sol ball, the room that was particularly tricky, one of the middle ones, was extremely easy. somehow the giant hand got stuck somehwere, i couldnt see it, even though it did come into the room through the wall. i was standing up high on the stairs or whatever, looking down at the Sol, ready to grab it, and fend off the hand by shutting it down with my clawshot, i waited a sec to see where the hell it was, but it never came into view. i was like "hot damn! you not even gonna come for it, you big F'er, fine im the F out of here" :lol It was kind of a b|tch on Wii, had to get the timing right. that combined with knowing exactly where the Big Key was, made the 8th go very fast. allowing me to beat the living snot out of mr. phycotic Zant, who acts absolutely hilarious the whole time.

look i can still spoiler stuff :lol

So I have just finished the second dungeon today. I am on the GC one.

A little complaint. It could have been a little harder, although tbh I read how to defeat the boss before I killed him. I know I'll try not to do it again. Also why is there no Navi in here. I loved the idea of there being a fairy, to talk to and one that can help out. I know the Wii version has a fairy but it doesn't talk. It would be so cool listening to Navi talking privatly to Link about Midna's intentions and stuff. They could have at least put a Wii type fairy in the GC version.

A lot of people said the game pics up after 3-4 dungeon, I am already sucked deep into this game. I just can't put it down. It has officially taken over my life. I am doing a full play through, rather than a speed run like others are. I plan to play around 70-100 hours.

Also it would be nice to get to know Zelda a little better. I mean they could have put a little back story into it, or silly missions, like the ones on Ordon, where you get to know the relationship between Link and his family (community). I mean the game is about her at the end of the day. I mean what is so legendary about her anyway, they should go on a bit about her humbleness in ruling a kingdom, like the Hindu god Rama.

I don't think this is part of any timeline. I think they are all different timelines. Why all the similar names and fan service. I mean Link helped the Gorons in Oot, they should still remember him. What about the Kokiri forest and all the villagers there. What about the kid with no fairy. What happened to his previous sword and sheild, and green costume. What happened to saria, how can Ilia be his childhood gf. They blatently need to be a couple. There is some romance between them. So I am going to go with seperate storyline . I mean if he's all grown up, by now he should have known that he's a legend. Some people reckon its a different Link every game, so different time, but same place.

Is there any planting in the game? In OoT you could plant seeds, and come back to see a tree. I guess there is no time travel, so no planting.

So far it does exceed OoT, which makes it the best game ever, in my books. They have put a lot of detail, but I'd love to see a more thorough community, like how do people in Ordon get clothes, vegetables, go toilet (at least a shitting area in a bush would do me good), mail, school, (ok maybe no school for kids in this time). But it should run on a Barter system, and currency should be used in towns only. I mean with a community (Ordon village) so close knit they should be like family. There is only 3-4 family's in Ordon. Or just add a bit of depth, like there source of income could be goats milk sold to town, or like dairy products like cheese and stuff, or goats meat (whatever that is called), a simple trip to town every week or every other day. Where different people go to make rupees. I could be totally wrong, all the reviews have said that there is so much to do in the game, that its overwhelming. I haven't encouontered much yet, but I soon will I guess.

About the cat at the beginning. I too spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to do that. I just hadn't learnt how to fish, so I tried and thought oh prob can't fish here, must be something else. I too tried to chase it, and fish it, and all sorts. lol.

The dungeons aren't so far as confusing as TWW, that castle in there, I think the first one is so damn confusing, I always get lost.

That's what Midna is for, and she's about 100 times cooler than Navi and doesn't hold your hand through the game.

Wait and see.

Different Gorons. This game is supposedly placed at least 100 years after OOT.

Different Link, yes. And this game completely screws with the timeline concept - you'll learn that after the 4th dungeon.

Is there any planting in the game? In OoT you could plant seeds, and come back to see a tree. I guess there is no time travel, so no planting.

OOT had this? Really? Are you talking about the bean sprouts?

Wait and see, man. And I thought the sense of being a "small-town kid" in this game was MUCH better developed than in the other games.

1) Though the game is a bit tougher than OoT or WW, it isn't by much, so you'd be doing yourself a favor in avoiding dungeon, puzzle, or boss strategy spoilers going forward. Otherwise don't even bother to complain about a lack of difficulty.

2) The game is set 100 years after OoT. It's not the same Link, Zelda, Gorons, etc. Different sword, shield, village, and Saria has nothing to do with this game or Link or village.

3)
Of the past couple of Zelda titles, this one develops Zelda the least. So no, this game isn't about her much, at all.

TP is set a couple hundred years after OOT or at the very least, 100 years after OoT.

Speaking of, what the **** was with the tear hunts? What a stupid idea.

Eh - I enjoyed it, just not as much as the other sections of the game. I would have much preferred having "wolf-specific" dungeons, but I suppose that would have been another year of development.

I was dreading the possibility of having to run dungeons twice: once in wolf form and once in human form.
thank god that never happened.

Oh: One big nitpick that I had throughout the entire game:

HUMANS?! THEY AREN'T HUMANS! THEY'RE ****ING HYLIANS!

Actually, most of the inhabitants of Hyrule are NOT Hylians. They most died out long ago. Link, Zelda, and select others have typically been descendants of that race, hence their tendency to be able to wield magic (varies with Link). There were also a class of Hylian Knights, who were pretty much wiped out in that seven year span that encompassed OoT, IIRC.

I think wolf-centric dungeons would have been awesome in the beginning stages instead of having the bug hunts, though... Although now that I think about it, the bug hunts in some ways were almost like miniature dungeons in terms of the environmental hazards/puzzles. More Twilight wolf bosses would have been cool though.

No they're not, Hylians are their ancestors.

AniHawk said:
In OoT, they were Hylians, weren't they?

Link and Zelda were. Presumably Link's mother as well, since she fled into the Kokiri Forest to save him. OoT Link was a magic wielder. Come to think of it, TP Link wasn't. Nor even a native of Hyrule, at that.

IIRC, the last batch of organized Hylians in OoT were the King's Guard, and they all died in the war that took place while Link's soul was dormant.

I'm going to start Dungeon 9 tomorrow.

I think the 3rd Dungeon's Boss is the real turning point of the whole game. When I saw it for the first time, I almost dropped my control, and said thank you Nintendo.

Spoiler 3rd/7th Dungeon
This is the first boss that takes after Shadow of the Colossus, you can really see through out most of the game references and simularites to it. The 7th Dungeon boss is another one too. That has to be one of the best boss battles ever

unifin said:
Agreed - third dungeon boss (second form) was just like... WHOA.

True, but it was much too easy. The boss of the 4th dungeon is the first boss that I found posed a decent challenge, and it was the first time I was actually tense and found the fight exhilirating. If only all of them were as such. However, Im hoping the trend will continue, and the rest will share in the intensity that is the 4th boss. But it was probably mostly due to the kickass- nature of the weapon used.

5th boss fight was the only one where I died...

Forgot to get the soup... :(

4th boss fight wasn't difficult either really.

5th dungeon, there was a serious lack of hearts, so my hearts were always on the low end

see, at first, i got some stuff, and i was about to pay him, but i couldnt pay him fast enough and he started attacking me, so i ran away. from then on, i felt okay about stealing from that little s*** headed bird. every now and then i will try to talk to him to see if he's pissed, heh. he "resets" and doesnt seem to remember that i stole.

besides Link has to save Hyrule. no time to waste paying ***hole birds that dont actually own anything anyway, they're just birds. if i had to worry about paying birds, the twilight or darkness would consume Hyrule forever. priorities, priorities :lol

i think i'll go back there, with a full wallet, put on the you know what, and let him attack me, and waste it all.

Could someone explain the save system in this game to me?

I spent the better part of yesterday evening working through the second dungeon, saved and called it a night. Today, I load up my save, only to find myself deposited at the very beginning of the freaking dungeon. It's probably going to take about 45 minutes of backtracking to get back to where I was yesterday.

Am I missing something here? I remember the save systems in prior Zelda's being slightly annoying, but nothing quite this retarded.

Is there at least a way to tell when you've reached a respawn point and can safely exit without the prospect of massive backtracking next time you boot up?

All Zelda dungeons have been like that since, well, forever.

If you use Ooccoo, she can warp you out of a dungeon and return you to where you started.. the trick is finding her.

Alrighty! Got GameCube Princess.

I had played up to the Forest Temple on my friend's Wii (Princess), but now I've been able to really sink into the game and play in the safety of my own home (the Wii's f*ckin' dangerous)...

Just about the enter the third dungeon... Have numerous nitpicks of the game, but I'm really enjoying it thus far...

Really disliked the waggle, for what it's worth...

What the f*ck is up with the Hawkeye? :lol GOTS A F*CKIN' GUN, BRA! Didn't see it until after I hit the bloody pole...only took two shots, though...
