3DS Streetpass Experiences

I just met Miyamoto, and because of my excitement I registered him to Mii maker and he was literally sent there. I sent him back to the Streetpass Plaza and he doesn't show his info anymore other than "sent by invitation." This sucks!

Yeah, don't do this. It's not reversible, as you've now found out.

Funny enough: Miyamoto didn't show up for my JP 3DS. Looks like NA only, maybe EU.

It'd be great if I could get more streetpasses, only have gotten 10 since ive bought one since Feb. Find Mii is quite a grind. I wish I could speed up the process by allowing me to collect at least 20 coins a day since street passes are so few and far between.

Anyone have some strategies for Find Mii 2? I've got 300 coins and level 7 pairs for every color.

Get a pair of LVL 7 and two cats (or dogs), be careful because this only works with a 4 characters queue.

1 - Start attacking with the pair and one of the extras.
2 - Use a friendship (or whatever is called in English) potion to bring everyone back with your 4th character
3 - Attack with the pair
4 - Friendship potion

Rinse and repeat steps 3 and 4 until you're out of coins (or you're blocked by a special room)

I have had my 3ds for about two months now. Still no street passes. The only place I really take it is to the coffee shop down the street from my house. Haven't gotten any hits there and dont really expect to considering I live in hipsterville. Anyway, I was thinking about getting lunch at the food court of the mall in hopes of getting a pass or two, haha. There is a Gamestop about 100ft from the food court so it is a possibility.

Any suggestions on good places to recieve street passes?

No sign of Miyamoto on either EU 3DS so far.

I've got an odd error, my 3DSXL doesn't send the correct Mii to my 3DSnonXL, it's just one with default settings, ??? as username and most annoyingly no puzzle pieces. I've been able to send the correct Mii to a 3DS in a shop though so am a bit puzzled as to what is actually wrong.

Gamestops and malls are pretty decent, I normally get around 1 to 3 tags whenever I go to one. But the best place to get tags are gaming/comic conventions. Large conventions such as PAX will net you hundreds to tags.

Hrm. No Miyamoto for me yet either. Hopefully he'll show up soon.

Also, thanks PAX East for giving me all of the Luigi's Mansion pink pieces. I got the puzzle at like 3 PM as well, which is pretty indicative of how fast PAX East works!

Also, 900ish streetpasses. I was hoping for 1000 in one weekend, but couldn't quite wrangle it. That said, I'm almost at 8000, which isn't bad.

Anywhere with dense crowds and you're bound to get a hit or two. I had mine since launch and you can imagine how hard it was back then when nobody was buying a 3DS. My first StreetPass came from when I went to a Best Buy on the morning of OoT 3D's release (3 months later). It's discouraging to repeatedly not get any hits, but if you stick with it and pocket your 3DS wherever you go, when you get that rare StreetPass, it'll feel really satisfying.

Great suggestion! We have a Comicon in my area next month, Ill be bringing my 3DS.

Thanks. I'll make more of an attempt to throw it in my pocket when I am out running errands and stuff. I usually only bring it with me if I plan on playing it, that might change now.

Hmm. No Luigi puzzle piece for me at all.

Got a message from Miyamoto in Letter Box, though.

EDIT: Ah. I'd turned Spotpass off from Streetpass Plaza for some reason. That might explain it. :p

Found this on Gamefaqs:

The special mii, Miyamoto, is being distributed today through spotpass. As a special mii, he is golden and is at level 5. Moreover, he has every puzzle piece including the newest puzzle, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, for a total of 609 pieces. You're normally limited to only 1 piece from him (blue or pink). However, if you have a second 3DS, you can get additional pieces but at the cost of formatting the second 3DS repeatedly.

Start off by turning off the wifi of the first 3DS. Now format the second 3DS. By formatting the second 3DS, you can set up the unit (create a mii, have an available internet connection, etc) and then get Miyamoto again.

Be sure that you first have downloaded the spotpass puzzles or you won't be able to take any of the spotpass puzzle pieces from Miyamoto and instead be forced to pick a piece from the original 7 puzzles that are saved to system memory. Set SpotPass in the settings option in the mii plaza to yes as it is set to no by default.

To check if you've downloaded the spotpass puzzles, just go to your notifications. Look for a spotpass one entitled Puzzle Swap. If you see it, then you've downloaded all the spotpass puzzle data. It can take a few minutes or more depending on your internet connection. Once you've downloaded the data, you can go into Puzzle Swap and get the free spotpass puzzle starter piece. Then, you can pick any piece from Miyamoto.

Now turn on the wifi of the first 3DS. You will tag the second 3DS. Take the puzzle piece. Turn off the wifi of the first 3DS and reformat the second 3DS. Repeat the process all over again until you have all the pink pieces. I naturally assume that everyone would select pinks although you can choose blues if you wish. I managed to complete Luigi's puzzle this way so I have 609/609. I will be tagging these new pieces to my local GameStop to assist the users in the area.

As a final tip, do not register Miyamoto to the Mii Maker. If you do this, then you will lose the ability to rehire him in Find Mii II.

People having issues with getting any StreetPasses...have you taken it into stores with a 3DS on display? One of my high levels/streetpasses is with the Toys R Us display 3DS up the road from me lol I know not all 3DS systems on display are set up though to even get streetpasses unfortunately, but it is worth a shot

There's also StreetPass Network as well if you're looking for more StreetPasses! http://streetpassnetwork.com/groups/

Have a Level 7 from a Best Buy demo station. That helped a lot with Find Mii*. Not so much with puzzle pieces. The fact they never updated the firmware to get more puzzles didn't help, either. :(

My local StreetPass group is listed, but none of the events from the past 18 months seem to be on there. Is that normal or should the SP Admin be sending events to that site? Is the site mainly to find a StreetPass group or is to to advertise events, too?

If my household ever gets a second 3DSXL, this is what the OG 3DS will become. Oh, my, what brilliance. No more frustrating, painful waits for Pink pieces to filter into the local StreetPass meetup groups. Thanks for posting this!
Wow, that sounds like a lot of work to get the puzzle pieces. Since I started collecting Luigi puzzle pieces on Sunday (it's Wed. morning now), I've collected 23 out of the 40 pieces and I only need 1 more pink piece. Shouldn't take much longer to complete it. (I also haven't used any of my 300 coins for pieces.)

As far as I know, the site was mainly to be used as a directory.

I'm going up to purchase Luigi's Mansion 2 on Thursday, so I'll walk by some store units. Usually game store clerks have their own behind the counter to pick up hits too, so it's always worthwhile. I NEED MORE PINK PIECES.

Most importantly, it's a way to actually get the pink puzzle pieces, since local Streetpassing is basically inadequate here, unless someone from the group happened to go to a Convention recently.
Ok, well that makes sense then.
I just got a couple of hits today and finished off the Luigi pink puzzle pieces. Only blue ones left now.

Wow, what happened to StreetPass Connecticut?
If there was one before, they're probably not around anymore due to inactivity. I've seen quite a few StreetPass groups die, presumably because their admins gave up on them, sadly.

But the great thing about StreetPass groups is that if there isn't one near you...you can always start one yourself! Or if running a group isn't your thing, you can use Meetup.com to suggest StreetPass meet ups in your area. http://www.meetup.com/Nintendo3DS/

Listening to the ONM podcast and just discovered there was a London based streetpass meet this last weekend that I could have easily gotten to. Tragic. :(

What is the range that the 3DS can detect another 3DS through Streetpass? I keep my 3DS in a case in my backpack, and I'm wondering if that could affect the range and cause me to miss Streetpass tags.

I got a tag when I used to live in apartment from someone who could have only been in the room on the floor below me.

To anyone that has been to a game/system launch at the Nintendo World Store, how many tags have you usually gotten? Part of me wants to go to NYC in June for the New Leaf launch, I think it'd be some kind of experience.

I'd say its a similar range to wifi hotspots. Some people claim 100 feet, I think 30 feet is a more conservative estimate.

A hotspot approx 100 feet away (and through a few walls) my netbook can pick up (with 2 bars). It does not appear on the avaialble spots list on the 3DS. So its range is less and wall will have a serious effect is what I conclude; pockets shouldn't.

What is more important is how long it takes. It might be once every 5 seconds that it searches for other systems then when it finds it might take a few seconds more to handshake. That said people have managed getting therm while driving and waiting on train platforms.

Technical info is sadly, a bit thin on the ground.

Get a job at a gaming company. I am assured at least 7 tags anytime I take my 3DS on a walk through the office.

Hey Streetpass fans. FYI, if any of you are playing Luigi's Mansion then Streetpass is deactivated during game play.

Repeat, no Streetpass during Luigi's Mansion.

So we've got another Ocarina of Time 3D / Star Fox 64 3D situation, then? It's not just during the multiplayer?

But the best place to get tags are gaming/comic conventions.

I was really bummed two weeks ago when I went to a pinball convention in Dallas and scored less than ten streetpasses. I expected much more.

Also, if pink pieces can "only" come from streetpass, where do they originate?

Pink pieces originate via SpotPass. When a new panel is sent out, your starting piece for that panel will be a random piece from the panel. There's a possibility that you may start with a pink piece, and other people can only get that piece from you via StreetPass, or also randomly as their starting piece via SpotPass.

My personal experience tells me that it doesn't deactivate it, I've received tags while playing it (playing in its literal senses, not having to have the 3DS closed or being in the Home menu).

Do you guys think getting a pink piece has lower probability than a blue piece? It seems like I hardly know anyone to have ever gotten a pink for any puzzle. Statistically, you'd expect it not to be THAT uncommon. Like 1 in 5 for each puzzle, right?

Pink pieces are much more rare because I THINK when the Find Mii 2 update went live, each person got one unique pink piece. I can't remember if Play Coins only get you blue ones or not.
