Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Soul Calibur PSP is pretty fun for about five minutes with the Create a Character mode, but the single player is so weak that I wonder how Namco had the gall to charge $40 for it so long.

Assuming, like Tekken 6 PSP, that it plays and feels like it's console brethren, I'm sure I'll have more than enough fun with the single player.

It doesn't really have any of the main single player content from the console versions. It's ghost battle and arcade modes. That's it.

Yeah, its mechanics are fundamentally strong. But even though Tekken 6 was lacking compared to Tekken Dark Resurrection, I sank a lot of time into Gold Rush mode. Broken Destiny doesn't really have anything like that to draw me in for hours on end.

I'm probably not the best example, though, since I generally hate single player in fighting games.

Naruto PSP and Ace Combat PSP are still $40 too,Namco don't care about selling their PSP games it seems.

just asking again if anyone knows if vitua tennis at $15 is just a temporary sale that will end tomorrow or permanent price drop?

Those controls on the 3DS are fucking awful for Monster Hunter. Same reason I couldn't really play them on the PSP, either, in all honesty. I NEED that second stick for camera control. The Vita has made it so wonderful now that I can play Freedom Unite.

How is is MHFU on vita graphically? I saw a "play through" on youtube and I'm not sure how they actually captured the video but it looked terrible.

Probably a sale that ends tomorrow. Or soon.

I like playing against people, but sometimes I just want to play that particular game... and having an arcade mode to play a little Soul Calibur while I'm on lunch break or stuck in a waiting room? I'm happy. I would've bought the combo pack they're selling in EU, so getting both free is good enough. Especially since I want to see how they implemented Kratos.

Now about the rest of the update for US? I own 2/4 remaining games and have no interest in the other two... so it's not a good month.

It's probably a telling sign that I read the blurb about Malicious PS3 like this:

Take control of the Spirit Vessel and battle waves of brutal fighters and colossal enemies to rid the world of the evil force of Malicious. Gain new weapons, build your powers and perform devastating combo attacks as the final slowdown between good and evil draws near. With a beautiful art style, Malicious is a treat to look at and will be coming to PS Plus later this month.

:lol
I really thought it said "slowdown" since I associate that with Malicious.

I wasn't impressed.

It's a temporary sale price, but the blog doesn't mention when the sale will end. Assume it's tomorrow to be safe.
just looked at the post again there is a price drop category i didnt see so it would have been in that if it was permenent. Thanks, guess this is as good time as any to get it, just wish they release the april ps+ update now so i can see if its coming to plus or not. Last time iirc the store changed when the post went up so i dont think i can wait they are so inconsistent.

They did, and it's not a great month for Vita owners: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013...s-april-update-demons-souls-free-for-members/

Think I asked in the wrong thread, so here it is.

I don't have a Vita and is interested to know if it's games are account-tied if say I download games from other region. Sorry if that sounds confusing, what I want to say is if your PSN account is from Asia, will a game from other region you download through your PS3 works on the Vita?

This will entice me to get PS+ from other region.

I would finish it. It doesn't have the greatest story but as you do progress the powers become much more usable and the gameplay picks up. Plus Kat is great.

Finish it so you know the story for when Grav Rush comes out with superior everything you're all caught up.

I'm working on it, the controls are bugging me a bit. The gameplay is decent when it works right. I'm going to try to finish it.

Amazon never been so late, still have to receive my DOA5+, game of the month :/

Did they use Fedex Smartpost? I had an all-time record for Amazon Free shipping a few days ago when they shipped a game I ordered only 3 days after I ordered it..but, no joke: the shipping estimate is -8 days- to arrive from ship date.

Also waiting on a game from an ebay seller who took 5 days to ship, and no tracking number..really hope they didn't just 'mark' it and didn't actually ship yet :( Makes me want to rip my hair out.

Yeah, the controls are really not refined. Combat is such a pain in the ass.

Also, PS+ this month suuuucks. I don't usually complain, but wow. Zombie Tycoon 2 is supposedly good, according to IGN's Colin Moriarty.

I believe you can only play games from the account that it was purchased from on the Vita, meaning that, on a US account, you can only play the games you bought from the US PS Store with that account. There is a workaround where you can switch accounts on the Vita in order to do what you're asking, but from what I've read it seems more trouble than it's worth.

It may indeed end up good, but I'm not at all interested in RTS games :/

I thought it was Greg Miller that said it was interesting.

Anyways, i'm looking forward to Zombie Tycoon 2, seeing as how it's made by the same guys that made A Space Shooter for $2. (psp mini)

Awesome game, especially for a mini, and dare i say, i liked it better than velocity!

Also i'm sure we'll get some discounts throughout the month. I'm betting Guacamelee will get a day one discount.

Another Namco fighter for free next month? Bah. I'd rather see a PS one title like Legend of Dragoon or something.

Good God no.
Namco fighter is good.
Bad PSOne RPG is bad.

They need to start fixing the PSOne classics available via the store before they worry about giving any out.

legend of the dragoon was awesome when I played it uh.... something like 15 years ago lol. I've been afraid to go back and play it again, but when I replayed it for a few hours a few years ago I still quite enjoyed it o.o;

i haven't played the soul cal game but I don't mind it, I am hoping blazblue is up soon since we seem to need a fighting game every month.

I thought it was absolutely terrible when I first played it but forced myself to finish it because of how much my college friend RAVED about it, even when it was unbelievably frustrating due to the timing based combat system. Never liked it, thought he must've been high on something to rave that much about it. I want to say I played Chrono Cross around that time as well and I loved that game.

I liked the timing based system, and when I started to get tired of it I just got the items that automated the system so I didn't have to time it anymore.

Sine Mora is a really good shmup. Looks really good on the Vita as well, and runs at near 60 FPS the entire time. Though it is these types of games that makes me feel like I am not very good at games lol. I will move through a mission and feel like I did well, and get an E ranking. Bayonetta made me feel like I was terrible as well, getting Stone Statues for nearly every chapter. I beat the story mode on normal for Sine Mora, but feel that Hard is how the game was intended to be played so I will give it another go soon. It is a relatively short game so repeated play throughs is easy enough to do.

I have really been impressed by some of these smaller games on the Vita lately. Between Sine Mora, Machinarium, and Rocketbirds the image quality on these titles is phenomenal. Looking forward to Guacamelee as well.

Oh and I got 100% trophies for Nun Attack today. Good game for the price, it gets repetitive though.

searched everywhere in JPSN but still cant find it -also used the search box-, is the title of it full japanese ? so excited to try it :(

I like optional timing based systems. Things that provide a little bit of damage for interactivity. The timing for the attacks was so foreign to me I spent a week on the same boss battle early on because I couldn't consistently get the damn timings (and at that point, there were no items for that, I think). Add that to the fact that I was pretty much trapped in a dungeon or whatever so I couldn't realistically fight my way out to level up and back in and it was a total buzzkill.

I'll take the systems in Final Fantasy 8 (gunblade), Final Fantasy 6 (blitz), or Lost Odyssey any day over Legend of Dragoon.

So I have a $20 BB gift card. I'm looking into getting a PSN card but I'm not sure if there are any notworthy retail releases for the Vita or PS3 that are coming up. Besides Soul Sacrifice, what do both consoles have on the horizon until June??

The Vita's upcoming retail release list is basically Soul Sacrifice April 30, then Muramasa Rebirth June 25th, then Dragon's Crown in August 6th.

So yeah, get a PSN card.

Yeah, the PSN card seems like the best choice, especially since I'll be getting SS and Muramasa on PSN.

EDIT:

Sorry for the double post ><

on Vita there is nothing really, situation is bad retail wise and this is why some of us here are thinking of selling our Vitas.

on PS3 there is Metro: Last Light and Remember Me(this one might end up crap tho)

Sorry for the double post ><

I guess I didn't make it clear in my post, I was referring to noteworthy retail releases. Other than The Last of Us and SS.

Ah, my bad.

Um. No?

I think in general, it's pretty dry the next couple of months. Muramasa is in June. Other than that, I don't know.

Like I said, practically nothing at all, regardless of platform. ;)
If you really want Metro, I'd go PC, not console... and like you said, Remember Me... we don't know if it will end up being good or not.
