Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Yup, seeing a slow month after all, but universe is in the process of re-calibrating so its expected.

Making more progress in D3, really liking the unique skills for the generics now I actually want one of each! To unlock classes, you need X level of just the general class right? Like a level 30 female warrior but not a level 30 2nd tier one right?

With the Toukiden demo out, were the old screens indeed bullshots?

this is actually looking pretty nice, sharp as hell too, no blurriness, good character models and no PSone ground textures like SS.

graphically this multiplat game by Koei shat all over Marvelous/SCE Dead Studio exclusive big budget Vita game.

so on a scale of 3 to 13 what is our chance of an English release of this?

Then maybe I'm just crazy, because I'd have sworn that's artwork.

Hmm could be! It was taken from a demo though. Asked the author to confirm.

Oh and the launch of this game is never happening. If it ever will come is will strictly be PSN with only menu translated with JAP voiceovers!

Not slow at all for me! Getting Guacamelee, Thomas Was Alone, Zombie Tycoon 2 (for free with PS+) and maybe Soul Sacrifice. And I still haven't had time to play much of Nun Attack and Machinarium.

I need that DeLorean too.

Maybe that would have stopped you from constantly spewing crap about the game, like calling it vaporware?

I need that DeLorean too.

I have played the store demo and it was great. Everything that I have been hearing is that the final game surpasses that by a lot. So I can say safely that this game is going to be great. Where do you get off with that anyways? You are the one that dismisses a game months before it even comes out.

Lol, I thought you were joking with your last post! Of course that's art work.

I'm crap at this whole megapixel CG thing and even I know a bit of art compared to a screenshot.

Looks to be about the same. Not great, but native res which is nice.

And usually based on one negative thing in a sea of positivity no less.

on Vita there is nothing really, situation is bad retail wise and this is why some of us here are thinking of selling our Vitas.

on PS3 there is Metro: Last Light and Remember Me(this one might end up crap tho)
Yeah, this quarter looks pretty dry. PSN it is.

releases until may
Yeah, that's....depressing. I kinda hate these droughts. It's going to extend into the Summer too ><

Guacamelee will be better than most retail games and only $15 for both the Vita and PS3 version. Do it, Do it!

Bro, I've had Guacamelee on my radar since Day 1. I wouldn't miss it for any game.....except inFAMOUS Second Son...

MAN. I just started playing Gravity Rush again for about an hour after not playing it in forever (my save file was from June 20, 2012 lol). I was only on Chapter (Episode?) 4 so I wasn't far in at all. Wow, what in the world was I missing out on?! This game is amazing! I'm loving it so much and I'm mad at myself for not having played it even though I bought it day one.

xseed just posted
[Ragnarok Odyssey] Limited Time DLC Reminder! 4/2/13 they're gone! Grab the TaeKwon Kid, Gunslinger or Ninja outfits NOW or else! *_* Hurry!
on twitter so I figured i would remind you guys as well :P

Took a quick look at all scheduled releases:
APRIL
MAY

That's some really barren months for all consoles. At least i'll have some time to clean my backlog.

BTW I'm playing Super Monkey Ball - why do publishers insist on releasing smartphone games in retail ?
I paid 8 pounds for it so that's ok but seriously - they should have made it $15 PSN title from the start.

Just because there are Super Monkey Ball games on smartphones, doesn't mean the Vita version is a port of one ...

100 or so maps that can be finished in <60 seconds each with some mini games added thrown together - sounds like smartphone game for me.

Did they use Fedex Smartpost? I had an all-time record for Amazon Free shipping a few days ago when they shipped a game I ordered only 3 days after I ordered it..but, no joke: the shipping estimate is -8 days- to arrive from ship date.

Also waiting on a game from an ebay seller who took 5 days to ship, and no tracking number..really hope they didn't just 'mark' it and didn't actually ship yet :( Makes me want to rip my hair out.

Mine's shipping estimate is around 2 weeks after I ordered it... this feels like Zavvi/Hut. :/ I have no idea what they used, I have bad experiences with Fedex, not only are they ever on time but they always seem to charge import duties.

Talking about summer releases for vita don't forget that both spelunky and terraria are confirmed for 'summer'.

So probably June or august

Wait! Toukiden demo is out(in japan i guess)? Maybe it's time to use the japanese account...
No i'm too much into mass effect 3, i want to finish it before getting virtue last reward.

Who was it that said Life of Pixel was bad? Toma? I know someone put me off buying it.

I think it's one of the worst game i have ever played.
I play since the 8 bit era and i played lots of bad, broken or extremely difficult games, but they were all "fair" because you know what to do, in life of a pixel you simply have to jump into the void-> die(because you will never land into a safe place if you don't know where to go)-> redo the entire level until the next jump into the void, and in a level there are lots of jump into the void.
The worst 2€ i have ever paid.

If you want a good platformer for cheap buy nom nation

or legend of robot

That's Monkey Ball. It's been that way since the first game on the GameCube.

Anybody have a good multiplayer video for SS? Might pick it up, but I'n not sure yet..

Post patch? It's greatly improved now.

FWIW, I 100%'d the game (post patch) and think it's pretty good. There's still a few levels that are a bit unfair, but it's nowhere as bad or buggy as it originally was and is well worth a blast for $2. You're not going to find much else better to play at that price point anyway (besides Out of Mind & Switch Galaxy).

I played it post patch and i don't even want to think how bad it was before.
I really don't understand how it gained so much praise.

I don't think that's true though, one of my favorite games for the C-64 and Colecovision was Jumpman and it had a lot of "gotchas". When you'd grab one of the bombs (what you were supposed to collect), the level would sometimes change, like pieces would disappear, or bullets would shoot at you.

Part of the game was that you were supposed to fail the first time (or first few times) and learn all the trick features of that level. That's exactly the sort of game Pixel is trying to emulate

And the levels are short, so it's not like you are wasting much time.

Never played jumpman, but life of a pixel:
a)wanted to get easy love using nostalgia
b)wanted to get into the difficult games bandwagon to:
b1)get the easy praise that many difficult games get
b2)make it longer with less

Sorry but if you want to make a good difficult game like souls games or super meat boy or others you need a very good level design, nostalgic tunes and looks don't make me close my eyes over the extremely bad designed levels.
And why to climb a ladder i have to press down?!?!?

That was before Angry birds and bilion of it's clones. Now the standards changed.
Can't say I agree. I understand where you're coming from, but just no. Monkey Ball 1 (and to a lesser extent 2) were perfection. Haven't played the one on Vita yet (bet it can't top either of the first two installments), but to say it should change its gameplay heavily because Angry Birds happened? That's just wrong, imo.

Try the first Monkey Ball if you have the chance to do so, it's gaming bliss. And I think it may change your perspective on what's a mobile game and what isn't. Most the mini games are really, really great too, one of my most played (mp) games of last gen. Again, I haven't played the one on Vita, but I can't for the life of me imagine it even coming close to the first SMB.

Putting games down and then picking them back up works. Happened to me last week with LBPVita.

same thing happened this weekend with strangers wrath. I got it on release and only played 2 hours. I thought it was good but I was playing other things so just never went back to it. Forced my self to this weekend and played it for about 5 hours. Its a great game. Hopefully I will stick to it till completion.

Saying that DOA5, FFIX and SFxT are just sitting there wanting to be played more.

I love story modes in fighters like MK and DOA. They work so well. Great for a laugh and trying out all the characters. Wish SFxT did it as well. My favourite kind of fighters is street fighter. However the newer ones always have pretty poor single player content. Missions mode (which I like) and arcade and thats basically it, not even survival which should be a basic mode. DOA has story, arcade, missions, combos, tutorials and then a bunch of intersting theatre stuff.

I have kinda given up hoping for a fighter with decent online. I played about 5 matches with RpgN (he won 4 haha but we had some pretty close rounds - 1 hit left to win for both of us, reminded me of when fighters are at there most fun) and that was great fun but the online match making is a joke in every fighter I have tried online.

Also will put a bit more into MHFU at some point. That game I have really mixed feelings about. Love some bits and hate others. At the moment I will put about 10 hours into it then leave it for a few weeks. Go back and put another 10 hours in then leave it again. I think its because a lot of the creatures feel very similar. Take down bunch of kut-ku's. Now kill his other Wyvern. Oh yeah its basically a kut-ku but with 2 slightly altered attacks and a very slight graphical change. Its at those points I stop playing for a while it seems.

At least you bought it day one. Was my 2012 GOTY.

The Vita's upcoming retail release list is basically Soul Sacrifice April 30, then Muramasa Rebirth June 25th, then Dragon's Crown in August 6th.
The Legends of Chima LEGO game is due for a "summer" release, as is MotoGP 13 (though that might be Europe only).

I tried to get back into that but I saved it at a point where the town is being attacked(?) and there are enemies everywhere. I died over and over and put it down again. Either I'm doing something wrong or it's just a bad place to start cold.

Just hide behind the buildings (knock out a few fences) and try and take out the guys 1 by 1. A fully charged electro bug thing (the ones with infinite ammo) takes out the normal guys in one hit (well knocks them out) so you can then bounty them alive. As soon as you get a point where they are looking for you and you are not seen quick save. then repeat till they are all dead / bountied.

Im going through trying to cap all the bounties alive. Def a lot harder that way but I think I have 3 or 4 bounties left to get before what a think is a large story driven portion of the game and have got them all alive so far.
