Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Gmorning Vitapeeps,

What is Toukiden and can I has it in my AmericanaVita??

action boss hunting game (you know monster hunter, God Eater etc etc) and we have no idea if it will come over to the west.

Ohh top of the page

Buy Persona 4 Golder and Dead of alive: booby fighters.

Oh and buy tons of other games as well.

It looks and runs great, but you can tell it was made by the same people that made Dynasty Warriors. A little too hack and slash for my taste. It is a game that I think works well for a demo and then in the full game you realize holy crap the entire game is the demo x100. Unless there is some variety in the attacks that 22 wasn't taking advantage of using. However, in Soul Sacrifice it is immediately obvious there is a great variety to attacks and that you could collaborate with team mates in interesting ways.

It's less like Soul Sacrifice and more like Monster Hunter. Bosses get more and more complex and you try to get by maximizing your limited skill set and managing your stamina. I'm guessing the demo had you fighting simple enemies, much in the same way MH starts you off against herbivores that don't fight back and mosquitoes.

True. But a lot for these games arnt about the variety in the combat but the patterns and variety in the monsters.

Monster hunter - hardly any variety in the combat
God Eater - hardly any variety in the combat
Phantasy Star Online - hardly any variety in the combat

Ragnarok oddysey has more variety with each person having 5 combo's they can do but these still are only good for different encounters so that for a lot of bosses you will more than likely use the same thing over and over.

I havn't played soul sacrifice yet but despite its options it wont surprise me if you will prob stick to certain attacks throughout the fight

These arn't games like DMC and GoW where the focus is your fighting style. The focus is on the monsters and gear.

Anyway I am just saying. If you play one of these games and the lack of combat options looks boring to you then the genre prob isn't for you for the most part.

Gotcha, well I actually liked Ragnarok Odyssey because of the variety the combo system added, and really like what I have seen from the variety in combat in Soul Sacrifice. If given options I will almost always explore and use them. I am the type of person who refused to Gravity Kick my way through Gravity Rush. I loved using the stasis field, the slide kick, and all of the special attacks. -

Preparing my body for Guacamelee by playing through Mutant Blobs and never noticed this when I first got the game:

OK, that didn't work...

I thought it was Greg Miller that said it was interesting.

Anyways, i'm looking forward to Zombie Tycoon 2, seeing as how it's made by the same guys that made A Space Shooter for $2. (psp mini)

Awesome game, especially for a mini, and dare i say, i liked it better than velocity!

Also i'm sure we'll get some discounts throughout the month. I'm betting Guacamelee will get a day one discount.

Frima here,

We're sure glad you loved our Mini : )

I can guarantee that you won't be disapointed with Zombie Tycoon 2. We've put a lot of love and brains ( pun intented ) in that game!

Thanks for stopping in again! Just got a 100% on Nun Attack yesterday. You guys (and gals?) make really good games and I look forward to Zombie Tycoon 2. I know one of your devs stated in an interview on the official Blog Podcast that Frima is excited to work on the PS4, but are you guys also going to keep working on the Vita as well?

Absolutely!

Here at Frima, we're all about using multiple platforms. You'll see more of our games on the Vita, guaranteed ; )

I thought Nun Attack was very fun and well worth the $3.
There were one or two levels toward the end that had me raging though -- just because I couldn't get 3 bullets; stupid green portals!

Not sure how closely you've been following this and last months thread, but the reaction here has been largely positive to Nun Attack. I bought it but only turned it on for a few and haven't yet sat down to get into the meat of the game. I hope you all are successful on Vita and continue to bring quality software onto the system.

By the way, pretty cool that you guys are putting Zombie up as a free game later this month for plus users. I'll definitely get around to that at some point.

Just bought P4G last night and about hour and a half in. I've never played a persona game before so I didn't know what to expect..I still don't really..I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. I can't tell whether or not I feel like I wasted 30$ or not. Though the intro to the game has been okay so far. Should I expect more?

I watch the web as closely as possible : )

Up to now, we're very satisfied of the feedback we're getting. We're putting a lot of efforts on Zombie Tycoon 2. We really wanted as much people as possible to get the game for our multiplayer mode.

The general consensus is that the first hour or two of Persona 4 is an extended introduction/tutorial. The game opens up after that.

Are there any native-res games that utilize self-shadowing? I was playing Gravity Rush, and I realized that every game I can think of that does that stuff is sub-native. That, Uncharted, AC3L, Soul Sacrifice, LBP, Resistance, CoD, NFS Most Wanted, etc. It's odd. Makes me wonder if Killzone Mercenary will have self shadowing since it's native res. Then again, everything has self shadowing in Tearaway and that looks incredible with native. So who knows. It was too hard to tell, although it LOOKED like Killzone didn't have it.

Give it just a bit more time before you make a decision. The first few hours are a bit slow, but then it really takes off.

I just got a package from japan with my new Vita, memory card and Y's Celceta.
Love the machine so far, though I haven't even started it up yet.

Anyone tried Ys Celceta? Didn't know what to get from japan so I just asked my friend to get me an Ys game.
It's in japanese but luckily I speak the language so I should be fine :)

Alright, trusting you gaf! I will say though, the game and the soundtrack is top tier. I'm loving the anime shorts and the music. It's a beautiful game.

its worth staying for the music, art and pure goofyness alone.

I still like intro's like in P4G so I was hooked from the start but I can see why people might not be sure at that point. but yes after a certain dungeon run the game opens up a lot.

Space Shooter for $2 was the ONLY mini I ever completed. Had such charm and was quite funny to me for some reason lol.
"Hey! It's me..."

Anyway, never played the first zombie tycoon, can I get by and skip straight to part 2?

Ps: also bought nun attack, really fun game, hope it's doing well for y'all and that it was worth the effort porting to vita.

Yeah, sure you could skip straight to part 2.
But you'd miss a chunk of the storyline.

We will be dropping the price point of Zombie Tycoon 1 very soon.

Sweet. This is the same team that did A Space Shooter for $2? I literally couldn't put that game down until I beat it. I loved it! Also, it had by far the best ending message I have ever seen. Something about how if you pirated a two dollar game then no amount of douchebaggery could equal your douchebaggery. Or something along those lines.

Really looking forward to Zombie Tycoon 2 now.

That's our type of humor : )

We're really glad of the reception here at the Gaf, we're glad to have you guys on board. We can't make games without the support of players!

If you have any question about the game and the gamplay, don't hesitate!

Man LOTS of psn games this summer for vita

Ouya must be your system of forever then.

I didn't wasted $250 for years old ports of indie game I already have on steam,I bought PSvita for the same reason I bought 3DS I want the meaty big games that only available on handhelds, like JRPGs and the 3D platformers and Action RPG..ect,now aside from Tearaway and KZ:M where are these other games on this freaking platform?

You are aware that its not just games you personally like that should come onto the Vita right?

A lot of indie games have been announced for Vita lately. Its not like these guys making them were going to make AAA titles for it instead.

There is like no relevance to indies making games on Vita and it effecting other types of games coming to.

Where are those games on 3DS? :lol

Y's Celceta is missing from your list, btw.

Ouya isn't portable, and it has a really awful controller with latency problems.

But anyway, all these indie ports coming to Vita are probably just the start. Indie devs port their games to Vita, then their future games are more likely to ship day one on Vita when they're released (as with Hotline Miami 2).

The summer is usually a drought for all consoles, so it's good Sony are filling out the Vita's library with plenty of indies during that period. AAA games will come eventually. Sony have to have something up their sleeves, but it's likely we won't see any until major events.

We need a Vita powerhouse or upcoming vita games thread. It's getting hard to track all the game announcements/release dates with all the new games being revealed in the last month or so.

The 3DS powerhouse thread got locked for turning into a 3DS club house, haha. There is an upcoming Vita games thread, but I don't know how often it's updated. :/

Those games aren't available on the 3DS either really.(except for the recently released Luigi's Mansion 2 and Fire Emblem) And the 3DS has been out for over half a year longer.

Just because a game is 2D doesn't mean it's available on other platforms. My goodness, quit looking at only the negative aspect of year old indie ports and you'll find a lot of new PSN games coming out too (which is what tamaster was talking about anyway - a new PSN game). I want more of those games too, but it's not any worse than it was, say, 6 months ago. Your negativity is very annoying because it is latched onto from one small negative despite an overwhelming presence of positivity. You got that Soul Sacrifice is horrible because of that one video that was nothing but positives but mentioned that randoms may be jerks in the game's online. You do this all the time. Please grow up.

We had some upcoming Vita games thread from Bukana and I thought I was subscribed to it but I didn't see it. It was very thorough. The problem is we can't have "megathreads" so it's mostly good as a reference only. I assume it's still around here somewhere, though it's probably not updated anymore.

Hey Gaf. Making a tough choice. Reluctantly sold my iPAD and decided to sell the Wii U and wait for Nintendo to get its act together. Xbox 360 is my main system.

Purchased a PS Vita, a year of PSN, and MGS HD Collection falling into the hype of PS4 and the supposed ability to stream PS4 games to the device.

Catch is, I don't enjoy playing anything on the Ps VITA. There's something about it ergonomically that just isn't working for me. It's a gorgeous device. Technically, incredibly sharp and cutting edge. MGS HD just seems like a chore, Uncharted isn't grabbing me, and the stuff that I do enjoy, ie, Super Crate Box, Sound Shapes, and Krynn are okay, but simply just iPAD games.

I loved my iPAD. Best portable gaming device that desperately needed controllers that the world has ever seen. The library and variety of games was INSANE. Also, everything looked gorgeous.

Vita...feeling very meh about. Should i give the 3DS XL a try? Get rid of the Vita? There's something about the comfort of holding the unit that just isn't keeping me. I *loved* the Wii U gamepad. Played Blop2 on it for hours, days on end.

Worried that with 3DS, graphically, the games won't be so hot (compared to vita), but that library and Nintendo quality will be fantastic.

I've got to decided today, too. Should this be a new thread? Thoughts?

Bought Senran Kagura.
Let the breasts hype begin.

Stranger's Wrath uses self shadowing on Stranger.
EDIT: And of course, is native res.

theres already a shitload of threads with situations like yours...but feel free to make a new one as they all end up being goldmines.

You are in a vita thread so theres going to be more bias then a new thread....but if you feel the vitas not cutting it get a 3ds.
I personally been extremly unimpressed with my 3ds and would never downgrade my vita to it if i had to choose...but opinions

I think you'll have a hard time finding an unbiased opinion posting in this thread in particular.

I own two OG 3DSes and a Vita and I have to say the Vita gets more playtime than both 3DSes combined, simply because PSO2 exists and I've already finished most of what I was playing on 3DS already. I can't say I find either system uncomfortable but the Vita is a lot nicer to hold than the original 3DS.

Wasn't sure if starting that kind of thread was bannable so didn't risk it.

If you don't like the Vita you won't like the 3DS. Seems you want more of a "mobile" game library that is vast and inexpensive despite being quality. My brother recently went through a similar thing. He's not enjoying his Vita because, really, he didn't want a portable game system despite him not outright saying it; he wanted an iPad. He didn't enjoy Uncharted but he is obsessed with Super Stickman Golf 2. The Vita is definitely more comfortable than the XL, although I have to say, I'm surprised you find the iPad ergonomic but not the Vita. I thought it was a pretty universal opinion that iPad is not very ergonomic at all (don't get me wrong, I like my iPad, but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world).

I would get rid of the Vita and get another iPad. It's clear that that is what you really wanted.

What are you looking to play on a handheld? Get a 3DS if you want Nintendo games(ie Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Mario 3D Land, etc.) get a Vita if you want more of those ipad/indie titles(limbo, Terraria, and a bunch of other indie titles have been announced for the vita recently) or you want a backlog of psp/ps1 games to play. Vita is also ace if you like fighting games.
