Fighting Games Weekly | April 1-7 | And after 0-3, he has risen

Let's blow up Triforce for his hyperbole:

-the team bodies morridoom FREE(emphasized that quite a bit)
-it removes the concern of soul fist
-the team doesn't require meter to do what it needs to do
-ChrisG would have to burn 4 meters or burn xfactor early to kill the team(no idea if he means just kill the point, the shell or the whole team)
-all 3 characters on the team are deadly in xfactor
-the team can avoid or overpower soul fist

Well Thor has 1.25 million health, that's a lot of Soul Fists he can overpower no problem. Kappa

I mean I'd love to be proved wrong but I don't see "Morrigan/Doom counter" in that team. I definitely don't see whatever Triforce was saying about that team either.

Triforce over hypes everything and obviously he does not understand the game that deeply but Dieminion at least has the right idea or is thinking outside the box. Just the high health, Might Strikes and Tornado hypers are enough where Thor can get more chances to tag Morrigan than most other commonly used characters. I still think Thor is going to get rushed hard by Morrigan and missiles which will make Dieminion go back to the drawing board.

I saw "What if our greatest heroes..." on that ad and thought "OMG a Marvel game?" Then I saw DC and was confused, since they don't have any good heroes.

hahahahahaha @ that cut to JRosa bwahahahahaha

When that player got bodied early and they cut to the Zoned Out splash page I was dying too.

The team is good. Just doesn't fit Dieminion's playstyle. Also you have to be able to do FoF loops with the team as well. To save up meter and then XFC grab DHC into FoF loop will win you the game.

Actually, no. Supes would get his ass kicked by Thor. Thor is magic and Supes is weak to magic.

Or Silver Surfer.

Let us not forget Jean "I eat stars" Grey the Phoenix and Iceman " Laziest omega EVER"

Superman is the most inconsistently written super hero of all time. Mere humans with reasonable intellect can overcome his with random ass Kryptonite... yet he is essentially a god with no real physical limitation on his strength, durability or speed. He is as strong, fast, durable or as smart as he needs to be. Let's not forget that he got beaten to death by some randon alien... wtf was that about? Even Batmam beat the shit out of him although one can argue that was Superman in a significantly nerfed state.

Any of the cosmic powers in Marvel would body Superman by collapsing all near star systems. Let's not forget the magic power supremes of Marvel like Shuma, Dorm and Strange would technically over power Superman.

serious comment:

superheros are lame in general

read manga, with selfcontained universes and actual endings

noweaboo

All the popcorn in the world won't be enough if the right people get their jimmies rustled enough by this statement.

*Lights every corn field nearby up*

They're both equally lame and/or entertaining. It's really more of a pick your poison than a what's better. :P

But having a persistent universe and overlapping storylines and cameos and that kind of stuff is a huge reason I like comics because it's kind-of exclusive to the medium.

Inconsequential story arcs kind of suck though, and even when they do do something bold everyone hates it and it gets retconned anyways. There's still some great storylines with pretty good endings like Infinity Gauntlet though.

I'd also like to thank Marvel 3 for getting me to check out the greatness that is cosmic Marvel. And now I am even more aware how godlike the Guardians of the Galaxy movie is going to be, even if it'll be hard to pull off.

Actual endings?

Berserk still going buddy.

Also some universes in comics do come to an end, then they make new universes and shit.
Those universe reboots are just as creatively bankrupt as continuing the universe in the first place. Manga might go on forever sometimes, but most of them have an end they're trying to get to, and they conclude on that note. Comic characters only die because people get bored of them, and come back because someone feels like it.

The problem is that any time something worthwhile happens in a Marvel universe, time travel or a deal with the devil undoes it because Marvel is filled with hacks that don't know how to progress the world.

Comics in Japan were never ghettoized to the extent comics in America were - same with its animation. In america, comics were for kids, and so were cartoons. Japan came around to the idea that both comics and animation could handle all manner of genre way faster, and both media matured in a way only American animation is JUST NOW catching up to, and american comics are still struggling against.

That's not to say japanese comics don't succumb to the same bullshit that american superhero stories wallow in. Or that there are miniseries/graphic novels here in America that are concieved with beginning, middles, and endings before a single word is written or image is thumbnailed.

But Japan can do more with comics than America because Japan didn't let their hangups over what comics COULD BE get in the way of the people making those comics, and so they're allowed to do more. Superhero comics in america are, at their core, a combination of soap opera and wrestling promo, and despite the best efforts of some quality storytellers, they're going to be that until they finally wither and their parent companies pull the plug and harvest what's left for movie fodder, and nothing else.

I doubt there's anyone here going but I figured I'd ask anyways. Is anyone going to April Duels II in Vancouver this weekend?

I'll be heading out tomorrow by skytrain but I don't know the actual layout of the venue so I figure going with someone would be easier to navigate.

Feel free to PM me.

Yea the remake/reboot universes are dumb but there are some good gems here and there. One of my favorite comic series ending scenes:

I don't really prefer either to be honest.

Just checked for numbers on Benq GW2450HM vs Asus VH236H, here it is:

BenQ GW2450HM - 6ms input lag AMVA24" 1920x1080
ASUS VH236H - 8.3ms input lag (game mode) TN Film 23" 1920x1080 (A.K.A. evo monitor)

They seem to be around the same price($160) too.
