New Pokemon X and Y info cometh next weekend!

I doubt any new types are being introduced. The last time we got new types it was simply to balance the game after the obsecenely overpowered Psychic typing in Gen 1. Nothing like that is even remotely in effect in Gen V.

The type chart is fine as it is. Some types are meant for offense and therefore have few defenses, others are meant for defense and have subpar offenses, etc...

Nope, Pokemon like Golem and Gigalith would be usable if they weren't weak against the most common attacks in the game.

Their weaknesses are not the only things holding them back. They have nothing unique to offer. Look at Tyranitar and Terrakion. They're two of the best Pokemon in the game right now despite their weaknesses.

It'd be very hard to change the type table now balance-wise in a super-serious manner, with the ridiculous amount of Pokemon there right now.

I think their style is more to balance Pokemon by changing/restricting their movesets each gen, and changing the properties of moves themselves. With the amount of real world data they must have with the battles through GBU, I think we'll see some more interesting stuff in the changelog for G6.

The problem with Ice type is that it is absolutely atrocious defensively yet Ice type moves are very good. Part of the reason Kyurem-B is in OU (apart from the bad movepool) is because Ice offers very little (since Kyu-B can just brute force things down with Outrage) yet is a huge handicap defensively.

Ice resisting Dragon would be nice.

I still say allowing Kyurem-B was wayyy to nuts.

Tyraintar is a pseudo legendary with a broken ability and Terrakion is a legendary. There are no other Rock-types in OU, and only one in UU. Sorry, but, other than Ice, no other type has such a terrible track record. :P

Poison? Though that's a problem of its members not being very good.

I feel as though there are two overlapping groups of Pokemon types
- "Natural" types: Fire, Water, Grass, Rock, Ground, Electric, Ice, Flying
- "Bridge" types: Fighting, Steel, Bug, Poison, Normal, Dragon (in both groups)
- "Ethereal" types: Dark, Ghost, Psychic

The ones that bridge the gap between the two of them lean much more towards the natural side anyway, so I feel as though we could do with some more of what I've called "Ethereal" types here.

Sand Stream isn't a broken ability. It's a buff to rock types. Like you've always wanted.

Poison should really nuke water. I never got why it didn't.

Because Water is the universal solvent. Hell, one of the most common instructions if you get exposed to poison/toxins is to wash it off with water ASAP.

That's why I'm fine with the type relationship being neutral. Water has plenty of good checks.

Gonzo The Great said:
Gengar, Toxicroak, Venusaur, Tentacruel, Crobat, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Roserade, and Venomoth are all in UU/OU.

Then why do people demand that Poison be buffed? It's basically Normal type with toxic immunity and an SE attack.

I can't say I particularly like most Rock-types. I'm indifferent towards them getting any kind of buff.

Ice needs some more resistances though.

I'm just bitter and want Poison to check more things.

I honestly don't know many Dark Pokémon. Maybe Absol, Sabeleye, Umbreon and Shedinja? I wouldn't even remember. I mean it's one thing with me being rusty on my Pokédex, but I would always organize my PC based on type and I had very few of them.

Oh believe me, you're not the first Poison fan who has expressed annoyance with how Poison has been treated.

It's amazing how difficult it is to rebalance the type chart without messing up other types that are perfectly balanced (like Fighting and Steel) or making weak types worse (like Ice).

I'm talking more in terms of strength/weakness interaction.
Back in the PokeBomb thread, I separated them like this based on the classical elements:

Water -> Water, Ice
Fire -> Fire, Electric
Earth -> Ground, Rock, Grass, Poison, Steel
Air -> Flying
Void -> Fighting/Dark (chi), Psychic (mental), Ghost (ethereal)

Normal ("typeless", or everyday person)
Bug (Tajiri likes bugs)
Dragon (because JRPG)

All these new pokémans makes me wonder why there are no rage faces of them yes. The smirk on bottom left looks like it's trolling, thus giving away the credibility of the entire thing.

Although seriously, on one hand I think it may be real as Gamefreak has been pretty different lately since Gen V, on the other, I think it's too silly to be real. Would it be called Mewthree? A new form of a cloned Legendary Pokemon from Gen I? Sounds too ridiculous to be real, even for GF.

You do realize "since Gen V" is just "Gen V"?

It's not too ridiculous, I could see it happening. Going by the genetic themes hinted by XY, going back to one of the most popular genetically engineered Pokemon from a story standpoint isn't that Farfetch'd

If you notice none of those are pure-Poison...and I'd imagine that their Poison-typing doesn't help them, it hinders their potential.

It would be highly amusing to me if they just started sourcing all the early rumors and made all the Pokegods real, just to watch the internet explode.

Pikablue and Bull are real though...Marill and Snubbull.

I still don't get what the fuck's up with Snubbull, one of the weirdest designs ever.

Nah. Its the fuck yo nostalgia forme

In all seriousness though im more concerned with its type. It has to be something thats super effective against genesect right?
