Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Guys, Im in japan on holiday now for the next 4 days. Any import reccomendation that is fun and import friendly? I want to try one piece2 but I assume that will come out in the west even if it might ge digital download.

My previous import is hatsune miku, so I already have that one. Thanks
im slow to respond to this but if you want to play one piece 2 on the vita you will want to import it, at this time namco has only said they are bringing the ps3 version over, and it's pretty likely that's the only version they are bringing over.

Finally got around to really digging into Soundshapes yesterday. Beat it today and started the deathmode levels. Now I see why people say not to play those. On the last song of the first album with the bullet thingies. Blargh, I'm assuming it only gets more difficult. This game is probably going to push me further towards baldness when I start pulling my hair out (already managing nicely on my own, thank you very much). I haven't started to get this twitchy and ragey playing a platformer since Super Meat Boy.

I really enjoyed Sound Shapes but some of those levels are bullshit.

I don't mind difficulty, but its difficulty based on RNG more than actual difficulty (where you spawn, where other shit spawns etc) for a lot of those levels.

I expected to like Sound Shapes way more than I did in the end. Weirdly enough, I enjoyed it a fair bit more on the Vita than the PS3. It just seemed to work better on a handheld, for whatever reason.

Well, digging around the PS Blog, this 2011 one only mentions the Vita, while this 2012 one seems to be announcing the addition of a PS3 version.

Just because the game was announced for Vita first doesn't mean it was in development for Vita first. Same story goes for Gravity Rush. ;P Sound Shapes was in development for a few years, so I'm not sure if Vita was a thing when Queasy started.

Okay, you got me there (the first post does say it started development without a target platform), but it also spent considerable development time targeted solely at the Vita, and I would think that influenced the final design quite a bit.

Guys should i buy a 3ds for 80$... I'm leaning on no cause I still don't think its worth that much :P. I love my vita more.

$80 isn't bad. Buuuuuut I only got one because its the XL and I got it as a gift. Haven't touched it since I beat 3D Land and NSMB2 on it. Only hanging on to it for Animal Crossing.

Yep. I opted for XL but I already have 4 3DS games. That and the large catalog of DS games made it a no brainer. Plus, 999 before VLR.

Here's a really nice thread of DS games that are worth owning, broken down by genre. Each game has accompanying screens and a links to relevant GAF threads.

Sony contacted Yacht Club Games about Shovel Knight for Vita, hope it happens.

Source! I need a source! I would love for Sony to come through on this. I mean I have a 3DS but would rather play this on a Vita for so many reasons. I did tweet to Shahid and Shane about this game. It makes sense they would contact them, they are getting everyone else. Why not?

Fire Emblem: Awakening
Etrian Odyssey IV
Soul Hackers
Pokemon X and Y

Buy the 3DS. Thank me later.

I will also suggest

Devil Survivor Overclocked (just got a reprint)
KH3D
FF Theatrhythm

The Vita/3DS crossover love is in full effect. Truly, fuck next gen, handhelds are where all the cool Vita-Cats go.

I'm stuck in EDF, they throw so many giant robots at you, just so many robots. I had to wait on Totori and will get it friday for $30 with my $10 psn credit back. Im going to wait on Guacamelee. The play time i'm hearing on that makes me want to hold off till a sale.

Do you have a source so I can get my hopes up? Shovel Knight would be cool.

Yeah, gimme that source!

I contacted Yacht Club Games about a Vita version and got this reply:

They actually just yesterday sent us an email, so we hope to be in contact with them soon. I'd really, really love to put this on a vita. I love that screen. So beautfiul

I am not going to say I am responsible but early yesterday I tweeted those Sony guys and now Yacht Club was contacted yesterday......I mean....

Dokuro is Platinumed! Such an awesome game and packed with content. It is actually incredibly sweet game, especially the ending. Wasn't really expecting that from the game. Platinum wasn't too hard but doing 15-1 through 15-6 without taking damage was mildly infuriating for me, but once that was cleared the rest was easy. I appreciate that getting a 100% in this game didn't involve a lot of grinding or scavenging for secrets. Even the complete all levels in under 250 minutes is incredibly lenient, so long as you retry the levels after you have solved them. Anyways it is a great game and highly recommend it to anyone especially if you like Puzzle-Platformer games, and I'd say the Platinum fairly easy to get if that's your thing.

I didn't expect you to like the game so much. Especially since its your avatar. ;P

I'm excited to play it, it's still untouched along with S. Wrath, Dynasty Warriors and some other game. I starte done mora today, it's alright. I really want a Danmaku game on vita.

wow, one of the most difficult Platinum ever

Not really difficult, just annoying. Master Ninja story (hard, but doable), Master Ninja Mission mode (stupid really), and Master Ninja rank all the missions on Master Ninja (fucking beyond stupid)

I switched back to Dokuro avatar with respect to the game and getting a Platinum. lol

Think I will stick with this Avatar for a long time. I really like the game and this character.

How many areas does Plants vs Zombies have? I'm currently in Area 4-3; was wondering how long I have to go before I finish it the first time.

I think 5-10 is the last one. I just beat adventure mode a few days ago and now I'm grinding last stand to get the money to buy stuff.

I'd be down for a SWR game on Vita. But don't they rarely come to NA? Despite the mediocre reviews, I really enjoyed the GBA SRW that came over here.

They almost never come to North America, largely due to the insane licensing issues that would bring. The releases North America did get are the games that feature robots created just for the series.

Namco Bandai just recently announced a new SRW for PSP. Weirdly, it's only being distributed through PSN in Japan on an episodic basis.

Some Ninja Trials are pretty fucking hard, mainly the 3 bosses at once and the dreaded Rachel vs Ancient deities.

dat feel when fujitv is no longer on keyholetv so you can't check out the j-stars victory vs footage

Damn, really? Just got home and was hoping someone would've recorded it. Doesn't seem to be on any Japanese sites, either. Hopefully Namdai gets it up fast.

Is there a case that can still fit in a pocket which can hold a bunch of game carts as well? (they don't all need to be visible) I've been using the official case which can't hold games and sown some ugly pouches to it to shove all my carts in but I just broke the plastic which the vita gets inserted into and don't want to spend all that time again (also the plastic that snaps in starts to become weaker over time and the vita starts to slide out.. I broke it trying to bend it back out)

Ok, I tried the 3ds at a bestbuy and I absolutely cannot stand the image quality on the 3ds...
I think i'm going pass to be honest.

I'm a huge tales fanatic, and I want tales of the abyss, but yea that image quality hurts my eyes.

I just want a new retail game announced :(

Hang in there bro! Wait till E3 or Gamescom or TGS or Vita's second holiday season :/ If we don't hear anything new at these two Vita is pretty much barren. It will be pretty easy to judge what they have in store. If they are only promoting tearaway and Killzone its already over!
