PokéBOMB 2: Electric Boogaloo (New X and Y info)

I mean, seriously. You can't beat this.

Taken in Yodobashi Camera, Akihabara.

Yeah, ok. Im buying this.

Amazing. :lol

Another thing, am I the only one that really loves the new Legendaries this time around?

For the first time since Generation 2, the two boxart Legendaries are not giant beasts or dinosaur like things.

Yup, I like them a lot..particularly Xerneas.. so majestic looking.

I like the new dude. I made a quick drawing

I think he could look awesome in menacing, alienesque poses :P

Ok, thats freaking awesome haha.

Game Freak of old took six years to deliver the glitchy mess that was Pokemon Green, and couldn't even fix it in their special edition Blue, or the subsequent international editions. Charm, my butt.

Not only that, they were so incompetant at balancing they needed to introduce two whole new types just to fix the mess in the sequels.

Go count the number of Gen 1 Pokemon with random horns on regular looking animals, then count how many have "special forehead dot" as a design feature and rememberr they had six years.

Wtf are you talking about? The games had issues so people who have love for them are invalidated? Yes, they had flaws and needed changes, but that doesn't retroactively make people who preferred the early generations wrong about their opinions or arguments. I prefer the original generations art style as it was more natural and organic, as well as more simple. There were weird ass things, but they were generally presented in a more simple manner. Less spikes, less loud colors, less "cool" factor.. they just had more charm IMO, and they also felt more cohesive.

Now cue someone posting a picture of the few oddball Gen1/2 designs acting like it invalidates the majority of other designs.

It is a bit sad and ironic that one of the reasons they decided to do this was probably to tug at those heartstrings, without anticipating the opposite effect would occur for so many people.

:lol

Please, they knew exactly what they were doing. A new Mewtwo/Mewthree/whatever gets people talking about the series who haven't given it so much as a second thought in a decade or more. If it convinces any of them to give it a try, then it's all worth it.

There's no such thing as bad publicity.

I'm guilty of using the terms myself, but I think that "genwunners" and "nostalgia" are buzzwords that are being thrown around here a bit too much.

That said, I don't think I've seen a bigger meltdown over a single new Pokémon.

To be fair, Mewtwo is a symbol of many people's childhoods, and they feel like GameFreak are betraying said childhood and so forth.

I've been playing Pokémon since '99 and Newtwo does excite me. The design fits, it looks cool and it makes me wanting more forms of classic Pokémon. I wouldn't be opposed to a new Celebi form. Plus it gives the anime writers another reason to choke it :p

Indeed. My site's facebook post about this has had the highest reach ever. My hits last night were high too, considering this was a worldwide official reveal, rather than CoroCoro

I think the problem might be that people are thinking that this is supposed to replace Mewtwo.

When compared to Mewtwo proper, this new Pokemon/forme/evolution/whatever looks decidedly less powerful and less mature. It looks like a kid whereas Mewtwo looks more like an adult based on the size, head/body proportion, and limb size. It doesn't cut it as a newer, cooler, better Mewtwo.

You can argue this nostalgia business all you want but it's pretty known and obvious that the series peeked at Gold and Silver.
I regret not killing myself. Why did I come back to the thread? Literally the worst post I've ever read.

I get why they're complaining (I've been playing since the series' outset as well) but comments like "Why is GameFreak raping my childhood" are really over-the-top and silly, wouldn't you say?

That's it; I'm starting Zuruzukin.com. I need a slice of that sweet pie!

Even if that's true, you can't honestly believe they would do this with negative reaction in mind? Not that all the reaction has been negative, but that's a bit too cynical if you ask me.

The desired outcome had to have been "OH WOW MEWTWO'S BACK!!!" as opposed to "FUCK THEY RUINED MEWTWO!!!|

I could see that. They wanted to go in the "Kid Buu" direction but it backfired?

Then again, we don't know the full context about this new Pokemon anyway.

Somewhat, yeah. However this is true whenever something that was old is brought back. I saw comments about it regarding the recent Thunderbirds reboot

That's it; I'm starting Zuruzukin.com. I need a slice of that sweet pie!

You'll regret that. Running a popular site is hell! It's also awesome, but such hard work.

Oh c'mon. How do y'all get so angry over folks having opinions?

This is a series with 600+ Pokemon and people get upset over their favorites not being the same as others'. It's just not worth getting upset over. Especially on GAF where there is a defense force for everything.

Having an opinion is different from being factually incorrect.

He should expect hyperbole to be matched by more hyperbole.

"it's pretty known and obvious that the series peeked at Gold and Silver"

lol

Vanilluxe and that entire line are actually some of my more favorite designs from gen 5. I think they look cute and I love the idea of snow on icicles.

I really don't know why everyone hates it. There are much worse designs in gen 5.

/Pokemon-supposed-to-be-animals

You know, I've never seen anyone claim this and then go on to call out all non-animal Pokemon including ones from Gen 1. They insist on talking about the newer gen Pokemons.

Whenever someone makes this claim and then goes onto call out all non-animal Pokemon, and not just the newer gen Pokemon, that will accept that person's view as their view, regardless of the fact I don't agree with it.

Yeah it's a bit much.

I think the better way to state that is that there's a strong case that Pokemon lost a lot of momentum after Gold/Silver.

They've added new things with each generation, but they seem to have also fallen into a predictable pattern. From that perspective, if you measure the games by how groundbreaking they are instead of counting their features, there's a stronger case for the older games.

I think that's what people mean when they say stuff like that. It's just that this is the internet so people tend to be more confrontational and hyperbolic.

I know, right? It's awesome/clever how Vanillite starts with that shitty cylindrical cone no one likes, and then it evolves into this huge icicle-shaped thing.

I love the concept of someone manhandling a superpowered critter and expecting it to not turn out bad for him.

To be fair, Mewtwo is a symbol of many people's childhoods, and they feel like GameFreak are betraying said childhood and so forth.

For me it's basically like giving Pikachu another evolution.

Mewtwo has become iconic at this point, so just stay away.

He was my first shine! Well, bagon was... :/

Oh damn, that is nice. Too bad Salamence shiny doesn't look so good.

Well it seems this is an alternate form, so the original Mewtwo is there, you aren't forced to use Newtwo, and those who like Newtwo over Mewtwo can use Newtwo. Everyone wins!

Gold/Silver were for sure my favorite games, they expanded into so much new territory and had a ton of content. Ruby/Sapphire were my least favorite, and Black/White are the best since Gold/Silver IMO. Design wise I prefer the first two generations, but thats not to say they didn't have their stinkers or that other generations didn't have winners. I love the X and Y Pokemon so far, they are looking like my favorite since Gen 1/2. Newmew/Mewthree is great.

Sooo on the Pokemon Site (JP) where they show the Genesect and normal Mewtwo, there's two slots under Mewtwo. This indicates that there are two new forms or pokemon to add to the Mew Family, possibly making it a quartet.

Or, if that page doesn't get overhauled, those will toggle the main picture between the two forms, as was commonly seen in the past

Regardless of the new Pokemon featured in this video, the battles look sweet and it's nice to see the reactions of Pokemon when they're hit by an attack. Everything looks so sweet and charming.

I saw that, but I wasn't sure where it came from exactly so I didn't know if it was official. One of them is labeled "X" and the other "Y".

Yea, where are you seeing this? I seen a pic posted earlier in the thread, but that was apparently fake.

Mewthree's got to be a new Pokemon altogether, like a separate experiment based on the DNA of Mew, like Mewtwo was. That or it's an evolution, which isn't really far fetched considering from game canon standpoint, Mewtwo is the only one of it's kind so there's no prescient over how and when it's supposed to evolve.

Having a form change for a Pokemon from Gen I announced this early into Gen VI doesn't make much sense, it's more logical it's new Pokemon with it's own index #.

The thing about Kid Buu thats appealing is he's even nuttier than the other Buus and has that crazy laugh.

I think this is more like Mewtwo's "good form", since hes always had this sinister aura about him. Which Im actually starting to dig now if he needs to becomes smaller and sleeker to become faster.

The reaction, both positive and negative, has been "OH, HEY, I REMEMBER MEWTWO!"

Job done. :p

perhaps Mewtwo's strong will, allowed him to accept and overcome his weakness and awaken to his true power.

The other links on the page don't toggle the main picture, they just provide information about that particular Genesect, and it's drive (I'm guessing).
