Fighting Games Weekly | April 8-14 | Cena-Factor validated, WWEsports remain stAGEd

No you pick Sentinel against that.

As predicted a year ago... unblockable teams become prevalent and people return to the machine.
Except he sucks against Firebrand, so he'll just escape and then get caught again. I guess he could DHC someone in, but still... better option is to not get hit. :P

Best option is to just play MorriDoom and pray you don't get hit on the opening gambit. DrewGrimey even with a shitty MorriDoom was doing work against the Pelican.

BTW only Skrull's assist allows that set up. If they don't fix unblockables like FB/Viper in the game (imaginary patch yes I know) then they will probably just fix the Skrull assist.

The Magus meltdown is fucking hilarious.... THAT'S TOO CHEAP MAN!

This is coming from Ms. Unblockable player himself. All Viper/Vergil/Strider players deserve to be shitted on by Firebrand as he single handedly wrecks teams like those.

:(

(Funny thing is I don't use incoming unblockable as I should)

But it is hilarious that they gave a character that could fly an unblockable.

Hey man you use Jam Session, at least that assist keeps FB honest a bit... before he hits you and 1 players your team.

Oh and...

wtf are you guys watching?
When's Marvel Weekly at Norcal. Drew Grimey, Apologyman, FChamp, PRRog, CJshowstoppa and Co were there. Even prior to the grand finals this was one of the saltiest weeklies ever. Taekua vs GC Yoshi salt because Yoshi beat Taekia 3-0 twice but with handicap turned on resulting in a salty runback. PRRog is always salty, gets unblockabled by Drew's team and his Vergil/Doom exposed for the 20th time. Champ salty because Phoenix can't do shit, either gets unblockabled or Frank Servbot hyper'd. He also had some clutch matches with Apologyman, lost both including one where Apologyalman bet the farm on wake up jab, launch.

Drew Grimey beats Apologyman by unblockabling him with Viper (Frank 2nd can't do shit) and puts him in losers which makes Apologyman salty. Apologyman beats FChamp for grand finals. Apologyman then brings out his B team of Firebrand/Doom/Skrull and proceeds to 4-0, 4-1 Drew in one of the biggest mind fuck sets of all time. During both those sets PRRog and FChamp are going ham on Firebrand calling him names and singing his theme. Drew Grimey tries to lame out FB with MorriDoom, gets 1 game but his duo is not good enough. Then Magus has a meltdown over Firebrand.

Even if someone wanted to try making a central authority, how would it actually exact its authority over others?
YELLOW CARDS!
Eeeeeeeeh.
Mango anything is superior. Mango ice cream, mango juice, mango milkshake. Unfortunately, a lot of you probably never lived in tropical areas and will never taste real mangoes.

I was just drinking this yesterday.
You know what's the best? Eating Mangos down by a river surrounded by lots of pretty girls and tons of gorgeous mountains. Goddamn I love DR. Vacations over there are the tits!

Evo isn't going to mean nearly as much with Fall Classic and VxG. Though it arguably depends on the games. Evo will still have a (comparatively) large international turnout but for minions and kombatants, the Fall Classic should suffice in playing the best.

This was a wonderful round up. I missed it tonight but it all played out in my head thanks to you sir.

Magus salt? Will watch the arch-

Oh. Whatever, it's not like he's going to stop sucking off the top tiers because of one incident of the sort. Or multiple ones.

Ever had mango pulp?
Yes. Don't like it either.

Both homemade mango juice and the store kind like Rubicon, etc. I can't stand, but I absolutely LOVE mangoes. In the summer I pretty much eat 'em every day.

Yonanas machine (or the mexican non-union equivalent) + frozen mango and bananna is a pretty decent desert.

The ice-cream of fighting champions.

Ultrachen with a interesting discussion about enforcing rules (Fanatiq situation etc) via a central body.

In terms of having a central authority, I don't think that is needed just yet. It should be up to TOs to decide who can and can't play if the players do something wrong, especially when some events are more casual than others.

I would still like to see people who throw matches don't get invited back to a few though. It seems like TOs are almost held hostage by the top players and their actions, but I feel there are enough guys now who would love to win a tourney or major that a stand can be taken.

If people want to throw matches its up to them i dont get why its an issue

Lawsuits aren't cheap. After paying Ultradavid for his work the players will be at negative money.

not nececarily

Its been covered pretty extensively before, but I'll just say I have no trouble with Fanatiq packing the shits and giving up. Good luck to him.

I still feel though, if you are going to put on a tournament and pay (from my understanding) the way of top players to compete and have sponsors putting up money for prizes and such; you would expect those players to respect it enough by putting on the best possible grand final, even if they are splitting the money after.

Entire Norcal is crying salty salt right now.

Fucking getting bodied by Morrigan in EC now getting destroyed by Viper, Firebrand, Frank and Skrull in their home turf.

Incoming FChamp promotes Firebrand to 2nd best character in game after Morrigan. Actually where is that Soul Fist tier list.... it is extremely apt right now.

Apologyman IS part of Norcal...lol

Why the Fall Classic will be THAT good? I think I've missed some news about it

Said in the same year EVO decides to run 8 games.

I'm pretty sure nothing they do will get rid of that stigma, for some reason.

So like... why hasn't anyone done anything about the whole Revelations thing?

I am not really versed in the legality of the issue but isn't that ground for legal action? I mean $10K owed is serious money and rightfully earned.

Either Champ just doesn't want to pursue it, the claim to payment is really weak or he doesn't know about small claims court.

(Some interesting jurisdiction questions to get it into small claims - did the TO organize this through a corp (would limit Champ to suing for $5000); will the court allow Champ to sue up to the $10K/$5K limit or would it allow TO to come in and say "no, I really owe him more, so this shouldn't be in small claims." Very skeptical that a court would allow the latter defense.)

Maybe running a similar amount of games more than once might do it. This EVO is still months away so it's not like they've given critics a reason to shut up yet.

Not really taking sides here. They've provided variety just fine for the last few years if you ask me. They can support whoever they want.

THey earned it over the years. 8 games was a nice touch from Evo this year, I do give them credit, I just suspect next year they'll go back to their old ways if the pressure isn't kept on them.

Yes, EVO has the right to support whatever they want. However, they have so much influence, that not being an EVO game can stifle other games. Having other tournies be equally as highly regarded would reduce the power EVO has to harm communities.

Honestly, I don't think TFC will be much bigger than Final Round this year, but over time it will become something bigger.

I feel like this sentiment has been shared numerous times. What would help? Less Capcom games or more 3D? In addition, I look at VxG's roster of games and I can't see any disparity aside from the non-fighters.

Less Capcom games? You remove Marvel or SF4(or both) and you lose a huge chunk of attendees. Just give the other games the spotlight whether people like it or not like what happened at FR. But don't exclude any of the major Capcom games unless the purpose is to create a tournament for these other games. It's just not feasible considering the cost of putting together a Major and the number of people you're going to lose out on who won't attend if their game isn't their.

Only crazy people talk about removing SFIV or Mahvel.

I had a dream last night everybody in FGC-GAF got banned, and I had to pay $5 each to bail ya'll out. I think it was because I was browsing this site late night, and you have to buy things on Steam in increments of $5...

I definitely agree and that was the point I kinda wanted to make. It's no secret that EVO's foundation was built on Capcom fighters, but to call it out as Capcom centric when this year's event will feature 5 non-Capcom games is nuts.

I wouldn't get used to EVO running 8 games. I'm sure EVO is running this many games this year is because half of these games aren't going to have big turnouts, especially since there won't be a bunch of shirt monsters this year.

These tournaments are centric to the games that have the most players. Capcom fighters are still going to get the top billing at EVO because none of those other games are going to compare in attendance, and because those are the games most people want to watch.

You won't see things change until a more popular game comes around. And even if one did come around, EVO will still be centered around Capcom games because that's where they started from.
