Doom isn't completely helpless against Zero, but if Doom presses a button at the wrong time, he's done. He has a hard time mounting an offense, has bad options against Zero's pressure, and trying to zone is just asking to get sniped with lightning. People who complain about Doom's support value are justified in doing so. People who think point Doom is a menace are just terrible at the game.

Kind of my thoughts, too. I hope a new patch comes, but unless something concrete emerges from Capcom, I can't imagine why they'd do it.
And that kills my enthusiasm for patch balance talk

They only did 10 character changes.
I put this idea forward too. I just don't know how I would get this thing started or how much would need to be raised.
Wolverine and Spencer have 0 zoning options and a very basic game plan that can be countered easily plus very basic and obvious mobility options. Wesker is similar but he just has a gun shot. All these 3 characters have really bad scaling and only Spencer is able to pile on the damage after max scaling because of his broken 80K grapple (which should be nerfed accordingly, no contention on that). Dorm is the exception here but he doesn't have lengthy combos or braindead OTG loops. He could also use a slight damage decrease but nothing too dramatic. Outside of Spencer, Doom does more damage and meter gain than all these characters. Oh and none of these characters have the support potential of Doom... not even close.
And people saying Doom has a lot of bad match ups... pick Wolverine, Felicia, She Hulk, Iron Fist, Wesker etc. then pick Doom and go to the far opposite corner and start spamming super jump height Photon Shots into Foot Dives. These characters can't do anything about it without an assist, it's one of the most annoying things to deal with in the game. Characters who rely solely on rushdown have a difficult time against Doom it's only those with some anti air projectiles or air to air projectiles that keep Doom in check. FChamp did a fairly accurate Doom match up list (1 on 1) and it was an even split between those who he goes even with, beats and loses to.

Yeah, if they don't have the license, nothing can really be gotten out of it.
Plus I figure Indiegogo would be more of the place to go about this, since otherwise you'd need rewards tiers for Kickstarter.
Unless every reward tier is a handkerchief signed by Niitsuma so we can wipe our tears when we all get bodied by perma Devil Trigger no meter Spiral Swords Vergil.

I don't know about paying for changes from the guys who brought us foot dive and hidden missiles. Most of the changes for UMvC3 were awesome and it's a far better game because of them, but I can't help feeling that we'll get ultra trolled by the DMC brothers or some new TAC nonsense that makes us wish for Morrigan again lol.

Hsien-ko gets an Infinite that's a simple jump loop of LMH, basically impossible to drop. But the scaling is so bad that it burns 50 in game seconds off the clock.
What if the milestones of the Kickstarters were specific changes the community would like to see?

Honestly, will a patch make people buy more copies of UMVC3? Probably not.
Just like the AE patch is not going to get more people to buy it. This is for the people who have been playing the game for 2+ years now and still want to keep playing it.

Consistent updates create consistent sales numbers. Is AE 2013 gonna break charts without new characters? No, probably not. But like Team Fortress 2, keeping up with the small updates maintains the player base level, which in turn is its own marketing force.
Dash cancel combos by their nature will always do less damage than OTG loops.

There is a small problem, though. Are minions playing anything else? The game is alive as it's ever been without an update.
"Marvel minions" as people here put them don't really do much of anything except watch Marvel or troll other games. They don't even play much Marvel nor do they even have good understand of the game past what they see on stream. Even then though there is a steady decline in interest of the game, seen in both view count and player entrance. Although I am sure the game will turn up big numbers at the next major again, the weekly performance is dropping off a bit. I say the patch isn't needed now but after this year's EVO the game needs something.

Minions are not stream monsters. Those are a lower life form.
It'll still do well enough to be the second biggest game at EVO for the foreseeable future.
I have seen Marvel minions in real life by the way. They come to the local LAN gaming center usually anytime there is a major or big tournament going on. They don't come to play, they come to watch on the monitors. They don't play Marvel even though it's set up like 3-4 monitors down from them. Every time Doom does Foot Dive they scream out "YOLO FOOT DIVE!!!" or other random Marvel related meme.

It still boggles my mind that Marvel, a game with ENDLESS possibilities for DLC (new characters, gameplay modes, balance patches, costumes, stages, music, heroes and heralds cards) is totally dropped after a (failed?) Ultimate update 9 months after the game launches.
In total, we got 2 DLC characters and one alternate costume as DLC for each character. Fucking Asura's Wrath got more support than that. The game has such a large fanbase, surely they realize they're missing out by not supporting the game more? Put out new DLC every time a new Marvel movie comes out. Cha-ching.

Maybe KingOfSarus has come up with a way of cloning himself.
At least the core game is strong enough to stand on its own. All that's needed to keep this thing running 10+ years is consistent intelligent balance updates, though I think the game will keep going just fine even without that. But it won't be as good as it could be.

It depends on how good of a job they do.
I think that, to really pull new players in, you have to add a few characters. It makes the game feel like it has fresh possibilities to outsiders. A balance patch will please some, but not many, since people have to care enough to pay attention to the game's balance for a patch to matter at all.
