Mutant Facial Hair?

So, recently I went without a shave longer than I usually would, and I noticed something odd. On my chin was a singular hair that looked much thicker compared to the others. It was jet black and thick and didn't bend easily. I was prodding it when it pretty much fell out of my face. I took it in my hands and studied it, and it was just a milimetre of solid wirey thick 'hair'.

I woke up one morning about 4 days later to what looked like a giant spot forming under the skin directly where this thing had evacuated my face. Needless to say I squeezed this thing and just made it worse. For the past couple of days I've poked and prodded my face too much and created a crater on my chin.

So I've googled all over the place, and there are a couple of forums with people talking about this, but I've found no real scientific data to suggest what it could be. It's definitely not a cluster hair. Lots of people seem to get these occasionally. There are a couple of forums with pictures too.

This morning, I sat in the bath for like 40 minutes, steaming my face, and I finally got the fucker. GAF, I present to you, my mutant facial hair. Compared to a normal head hair for dramatic effect.

Have you get ever had one of these? Anyone know why they form? Anyone got any mutant facial hair horror stories?

I have gotten these and have no idea what they are.

I have also recently experienced a single beard hair secretly growing at least 4 times as fast as the rest of the surrounding hairs. I'm pretty sure I've been exposed to too much radiation.

I don't have a mutant facial hair story. However, my body hates my facial hair. I have extremely curly facial hair and my face reacts to it. Get inflammation from the hair growing and sometimes it curls back into my skin causing even more problems. I have tried oral antibiotics and I am currently using topical antibiotics and RetinA. Nothing works. Nothing. It might be the most frustrating thing ever. I have a very meticulous face washing routine and it doesn't help at all. I can't shave all the way down because when the hair grows its just going to cause problems. I maintain a beard but washing my face causes some of the hairs to get pulled out also causing problems.

Fuck my facial hair and my inflammatory response. Yes I am bitter. I wanted to vent. It is one of the most frustrating things that exists in my life.

sounds like some crazy ingrown hair, had one of those the other month that was basically growing into my face as opposed to out of :( pulled it out and it was 3 times as long as any hair on my face... nasty!

Yep I get em. My hair overall is pretty thick. Most of the time they'll appear on my neck or around my cheek bones. Squeeze em right out. It's a blast let me tell you.

I remember we had another thread not that long ago with a gaffer who had some hairs that looked like plant material.

Freak-GAF we call them.

Laser treatments are a little more expensive when you have darker skin because they need to use a special laser, but you might consider looking into it. Once your hair goes gray, it's going to be harder to handle, so consider while you're young.

I present you: the longest ingrown hair you'll ever see.

Thank god I've never had to go through any of this. I keep my face away from dangerous gamma radiation.

Jesus christ. I've watched a couple of ingrown hair youtube videos but this takes the biscuit. He must have had that boil on his cheek for years.

Does ingrown hair qualify as a horror story, OP?

I've been using dating websites. My love life is on hold for this thing, and I've permantly scarred my chin. Pretty sure that counts...

maybe not

Yeah I am about to go back to my derm. I am beyond frustrated at this point.

I used to get those kinda regularly, but only for a brief window of time. I'd say it was when I was... around 25 to 30. Been a long time since the last one. Mine were a lot darker than the one in the photo, they were pitch black. Much darker than a pencil lead. Looked like a really thick whisker, up high on my cheek. I'd get them with tweezers, and they'd just slide right out, there was no root holding them down. I think they were always in the same spot on my face. Always wondered what the fuck they were. I thought maybe they were some bizarre type of blackhead, but completely different from the usual.

I feel for you man. This is the first real issue I've had with ingrown facial hair, and it's really annoying. Not only is it uncomfortable but it also makes you feel self conscious. The thing that came out of my chin is nothing compared to life long suffering with the issue.

This is exactly what it was like. The original one was alot thicker and darker. The one in the OP was the second one. There was litterally no resistance when the first came out. I have thought about the blackhead thing but I dunno, could it really be a mega blocked pore or something?

I demand a scientific explanation! Not even Google can solve this mystery.

Can one of you describe the vid in detail? I can't click...

A guy has a hair on the edge of his jaw by his right ear that basically looks like a thin, broken spring. Curled around and around itself a ton of times. A single hair that was like 2-3 inches long. It may or may not have curled back under his skin a few times.

And he pulls it out with puss coming out? fuck

That snake's head thread did nothing to me. This, on the other hand, will live on in my mind long after the disgusted shudders have passed on.
This is why I only read about them.

In HS I noticed a single clear(not white, clear) hair growing out of my forehead. It was about 2 inches long too I dont know how it grew without me noticing it. And no one else noticed it.

I've had something come off of my chin that looked exactly the same. That son of a bitch hurt so much. When I finally got it out, I almost orgasmed with pleasure.

Soooo good.

Haha, oh man, this is embarrassing but I have one too. I didn't mention it because I've never considered it an issue but for my whole life, I've had a single, very thin clear hair that grows like 2cm above my eyebrown. I have to tilt my head in the light to see it and yank it out.
