Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

I've been noticing that a lot over the last few days. As bad as things get, they have to get pretty bad to look like a "war zone." Perhaps a bit of hyperbole going on there.

Not hyperbole. It is very simple. People is USED to news of killing, bombings, maimings, explosions and so on going off in some distant place in the ME. But when it happens in your "back yard" from a Western perspective. As in a place that westerners can relate too. Then it is much scarier and up close. That is why this story is getting so much attention.

Suppose to go through South Station in Boston to get to NYC this morning. Doesn't look like that is happening now. Staying out of Boston today.

They are also interested in limiting people out and about to prevent false identification calls.

They keep getting calls of potential sightings all over the place and how serious it is they must pursue the leads.

Why are they not releasing more images of him since they know his name? Clearer images? Do they not want to panic the public by admitting they have no idea where he is?

I do not think we can attach normal emotion or reactions to a guy who was ok blowing up innocent people.

Hope this ends with no more innocents hurt or killed !

As much as it pains the simple folk, those that do evil things are usually very normal and compassionate in other situations.

True sociopaths usually end up in middle management.

I do not think we can attach normal emotion or reactions to a guy who was ok blowing up innocent people. If he killed himself I am guessing it would be because he was shot himself but both of these guys had a death wish otherwise they would have been far away from Boston after Monday.

Hope this ends with no more innocents hurt or killed !

You're right, I'm probably just applying movie logic to the situation.

I'm referring specifically to the use of 'war zone' as a term.

I'm sure they have more than enough for a conviction. Wheelchair guy told them that he saw suspect #1 walk up next to him, put his bag on the ground right at his feet, and walked away. The bag detonated 2 1/2 minutes later and he lost his legs.

And that's just a small example of what WE know. I'm sure police have plenty more that's more than just circumstantial.

Don't they have footage of the white hatted fucker dropping a backpack near the eight year old who later died?

Pronounce the name "Dzokhar" out loud.

I just called my boss and told him I wasn't coming in since the city is on lockdown. Surprisingly, half the office is there! Fuuuuuu!

This probably will not reflect well for me at work, but fuck it. I'm not risking my life to go to work.

Former Philly police chief says that the brothers could've been influenced by Chechnya terrorists.

Assuming this is his youtube channel, from his own playlist. "And They say, Its Only Sunnah | Shaykh Feiz Mohammed"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feiz_Mohammad
"We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam... Teach them this: there is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid. Put in their soft, tender hearts the zeal of jihad and a love of martyrdom."

I don't think they even had to go as far as Chechnyan terrorists to go down that road...

They were using youtube. the guy commented 2 and 3 days ago. They clearly did not go dark after they committed those heinous acts.

New details about the Transit officer-

Name: Richard H Donahue, Jnr. 3 Years service as a transit officer. I missed his age - NBC says 33 years old, 6 month old baby.

That's fucked up, the police specifically instructed people to stay home. Tell your boss to eat a dick.

You guys don't seem to realize that Chechens go beyond just the Chechnya-Russia issue. There are Chechens who have joined Islamic fundamentalist groups like Al Qaeda / Taliban and fought against the US and allies in places like Afghanistan. Prior to that there were even Chechen fighters involved in the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.

Yeah. Ask any Afghanistan vet. They've been fighting our guys for years over there. These international fighters believe in a philosophy of Islam as the one global religion. And the basis for all law.

What the fuck is going on? Can someone sum this up?
Wikipedia has a good summary;

On April 18, a shooting occurred on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, near Building 32 (Stata Center) at 10:48 p.m. EDT (02:48 UTC, April 19).[61] Multiple shots were fired.[62] It was subsequently reported that an MIT police officer received multiple gunshot wounds. The officer was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in nearby downtown Boston, where he was pronounced dead.[63][64]

Police in Watertown reported that they exchanged gunfire with two suspects following the shooting,[65] with explosions and automatic weapon fire heard.[66] Later in the night, The Boston Globe would report that the shooting suspects were the same men being sought in the Marathon bombings.[61]

During the morning of April 19, after a car chase, one suspect (referred to as "suspect number one" or "the black-hat suspect") was taken by police to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he died of injuries.[67]The FBI released additional photos of the two suspects during the Watertown incident.[68] Several sources report that a suspect was surrounded by police and ordered to strip completely naked before being arrested and taken into custody.[69][70]

The second suspect, sometimes referred to as the "white-hat suspect",[71] is "still at large", according to law enforcement officials.[72]
