Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

It's real! My £27.99 copy arrived yesterday.

Can you get some screenshots going on the Vita Screenshot thread?

Top of the Page, guess there's a first time for everything. :P

Get LBP Vita. I personally didn't like the PS3 games but the Vita one just clicked.

I'm thinking of using 4 screenshots in the Soul Sacrifice OT. PM me if you have some really awesome ones that you want to share. :)

Small nugget i just heard through the grapevine. "Giant" Soul Sacrifice add on planned for this fall.

:)

That is sweet.

I just told my brother I'd give him a $20 PSN card if he downloads the demo and beats it (in hopes he'll want to buy it)

I've been bugging him to play the demo since it hit and he won't do it. I'm hoping that carrot will motivate him to do so.

The heck is Atelier Totori Plus?

I see loli, I see RPG?, I see $39.99!!

It does not really look like my thing, but it does seem somewhat popular, a bunch of people in my immediate area are playing it on near, though thats of course just anecdotal. I think i remember seeing that it was doing well on psn though.

A non traditional jRPG, with lighthearted plot, that doesn't involve saving the word and revolves about alchemy (gathering, synthesing, the works) Lots and lots of cuteness, the good kind of cuteness.

I'm actually legit surprised to see that Legends of War exists. I thought it was Vaporware after I found no info on it for the last thread.

Also, Jack collection for the Vita... Well, thats /one/ more good game added to the Vita's list.

Sounds awesome, I'm absolutely loving Soul Sacrifice so far. I really, really hope the game sells well enough to warrant a sequel/more games from Comcept.

Also I'm still soooooo torn on what platinum to go after next. I'm thinking I really have to force myself through Uncharted: GA, not sure why I'm so bored with the game considering how much I loved 1-3. I really need to get a $20 PSN card so I can finally get EDF.

I also can't wait until Terraria hits Vita, absolutely loving it on PS3, especially after cleaning out my 5 yr old PS3 and applying new thermal paste, it's running like new. I'm absolutely loving exploring in Terraria and so long as that game has multiplayer on Vita as well it'll be a huge hit IMO, especially considering it's filesize is tiny (like 64 MB on PS3).

There's just so many games coming and I already have such a huge backlog... just pure Vita overload @_@

Btw what the heck is that VVVVVV game people were talking about?

http://thelettervsixtim.es/

there is a demo

Atlus is holding a 2 day fan event in Japan to promote upcoming 3DS games

Dragon's Crown getting 3rd class citizens treatment and completly ignored because it's not on a system that Atlus actually care about.

I wish UTV Ignition sold the right to a decent publisher,oh well it's too late for that now.

You know, i don´t understand the face. Yeah these games most likely are not system sellers (i expect Killzone and Tearaway to shift some systems regardless of how tiny it is) but it´s a varied list that have plaformers, FPS, Racing, SS, JRPG. 4 genre is not bad you know. That means there can be something for many different people.

Well first Vita got only 14 games till the end of the year
SS = MonHun clone not a popular genre in the west
invizimals= sadly ended as VS mode again and not a complete game.
Teraway= 3D platformer(dead genre that I love)and small game from a small team within a small studio.
KZ:M= Spinoff with 9 missions.
2 Lego games (more of the same crap, most likely 3DS ports).
J&D =PS2 port.
Murumasa=Wii port.
Epic Mickey 2= port,a shitty game.
Batman Blackgate= spinoff/multiplat.
MotoGP= not super cars like GT/Forza which the only type of Racing games that sells.
VK3 = series got a very bad reputation of being very bad

so yeah it's beyond lackluster.

If JAD is coming out in June I wonder what they will announce at e3/gamescom.

Seems like the sort of game they'd save for something like that.

E3 will most likely be a PS4/Xbox720 show(and Sony as a company need push PS4 as hard as they can on E3 and Gamescom)

so if they have anything for Vita they'll show it now(till before E3)but honestly I think they have absolutely nothing.

GIMME.

Also, I can't wait to see what Dragon's Crown real box art looks like.

seeing how much Atlus don't really care, they might slap a 2 mins Photoshop job of some rejected Kamitani doodling for poor Dragon's Crown cover.

Token support at best,goddamn Sony.

Edit:Goddamn third parties is more like it.

I think its about time to stop calling every hunting game a "MonHun clone".

It's Totobeni. He waxes poetic about a game like Folklore that sells five copies but then shits on almost every other game. I appreciate people being into the Vita (there aren't that many) but the constant negativity is taxing EVEN IF it's mostly realistic.

Bundles for Tearaway and Killzone.

Gamescom will be devoted to Wonderbook 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Oh, come one, you guys can do better - obviously Sony will have a huge Vita-related announcement!

They're closing down Bend :P

Also bonus points to Toto for leaving out Ys, a true Vita exclusive and one of my most anticipated titles.

Your getting as bad as toto :/

It's very hard to be optimistic about Vita right now. Sales have been horrible for a year and Sony seems to have given up. I wouldn't blame them if I felt the company actually gave it their best, but I don't think they have.

I finished Guacamelee, and I'm really happy with it. It's right up there with Dokuro and Super Stardust Delta for me. Seems appropriate that with Vita's digital initiatives and indie future, all my favourite Vita games are PSN only titles. Well, I guess Dokuro is technically retail too. :p

I won't be doing an immediate second run-though like most of you 'cause I want to play other stuff, but I'll give hard mode a shot later. I'll probably play it on PS3 though.

Mutant Blobs was a good game with some big problems (imo), and I'm just really happy to see that Drinkbox has come a long way since then. This is definitely one of the best titles on the PSN service.

I was saying this for a long time now(but people keep attacking me for no reason)

SCE itself abandoned hope very fast before even some of the other publishers, and Shu Yoshida as Sony software output boss is to blame mostly here because lack of first party support on Vita give a clear hint to third party publishers that the system has no future, and we ended with this current grim situation.

Toto will probably put me on blast for this...

But I was just playing Soul Sacrifice and I got to thinking... it kind of reminds me of Folklore's combat in many ways. o_O
and to be more specific of Keats combat system.

*(Inafune stealing ideas from Okamoto is nothing new)*

but while they indeed got the idea from Folklore or let say inspired with it both games do it very differently, and Folklore is just a billion year better because it don't hold you or your attacks and let combine different kind of "summoning" attacks on the fly which SS don't do.

and by the way, they kinda "inspired"(lol) from Ellen twilight cloak and the book style menu and attack hud from Folklore too.

but it's ok for all the inferior developers out there to get stuff from Folkore the game of the generation,I don't mind.
Yeah, I can totally see that. In my Soul Sacrifice bitching post, I referenced Phantom Dust as a game that does a better job of making similar components feel more cohesive. It's almost the same example. The only difference is that Phantom Dust came out several years earlier than Folklore and reminds me much more of Soul Sacrifice, especially considering its multiplayer focus. All three games fall into different genres, though.

This montage shows Phantom Dust in action for those who don't know what is. Soul Sacrifice feels like déjà vu as many of the spells (and spell types) are nearly identical, from shots with different arcing and distance properties, crawler-type attacks, simple melee attacks like sword swipes, directional barrier-type shields with auxiliary effects, utility abilities like healing or movement augmentation, sacrificial attacks, etc.

The SS demo's tutorial fight against your partner is actually the closest thing to resemble a one-on-one Phantom Dust battle in another game.

I know people were worried EA wasn't releasing a new FIFA given its lack of inclusion in the announcement. I just looked in the computer at work and it is arriving on the system

Your right they were never all in from the start. Seems like an internal battle inside the company. Maybe everybody was in PS4 project and from the top down the b team was responsible for Vita.

The only people that did the job were the hardware guys concerning Vita. Marketing, getting games secured. Back up planning (PS3 should have taught them about a slow almost dead start) failed.

Nice. Now it's just a question of whether it's just a roster update or not.

well last time at EA sport lolz department,Wii U got a roster update of FIFA 11 too (FIFA 13 on WiiU is a port of FIFA 12 on PC which was FIFA11 roster update with no impact engine)I just don't see Vita getting a better treatment.

but..well lets hope for the best I guess.
