Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

The 7/11 robbery doesn't make any sense to me, why would they go and do this after their faces get plastered all over the news as bombing suspects?

Also, at this point, I wonder if Dzhokhar is held up at a safe house somewhere? It makes me wonder if he is staying at a friend/ realities place just to lay low.

I think it was more of a case of them being spotted and then a chase ensuing. I doubt they would seriously go and try and rob a place but who knows.

I posted a few pages back but my post got buried.

Fox news reported that the suspects didn't actually rob the 7-11, only purchased gas and got picked up on the security camera. I wondered too why they would rob a store but it appears they didn't.

Now that makes more sense. Still an unbelievable outcome though. Who would've guessed that this would have happened right after their faces were shown to the public?

Do you think we will ever get a logical explanation even if he's caught live? He's either an extremist or a fucking psychopath.

Even if he is caught alive i highly doubt we will make any sense out of it.

I think if they did this for America to listen than we will know why they did this.

If they did this just because they felt like doing it (which I have serious doubt in) than I can't really say if suspect 2 would be willing to say what they did.

They were tracking the car before, have they found the car he drove his brother over with and took off in?

The car has to have been found, right?

No it doesn't. This sends a clear message: you do terrorism, we'll stop and nothing to bring you to justice. That's how it should be.
It doesn't work, though. Because it actually sends a very different message: You build a shoddy bomb and kill three civilians, we'll panic for a week and blow millions of dollars pursuing you. That's the message - and that's exactly what terrorists want. The term "terrorist" already implies it.

seriously.

not to make light of the situation, but its similar in GTA3 when you would go nuts, each time you went more nuts it would escalate. Right now this guy is practically sitting at 5 stars of law enforcement.

I am normally one to agree and say they have no right to search the premises of private residences. But in cases like this its absolutely necessary.

ha, that's strangely an apt comparison.

I get that but how normal his tweets were the days leading up and after don't indicate snapping. I get that I shouldn't read too much into that but still, seems weird.

It's weird, but I guess different people reveal different layers of themselves in social media versus private life.

We can't really base someone's state of mind solely on their tweets or even how they act with their "friends," you know?

What should have been the response?

So what the hell is the alternative?

Because sometimes people snap.

I think that this is the opposite of snapping. These were cold and calculated deliberate acts of terror where they had to plan and construct devices intended to kill and maim as many people as possible, find the event with the largest amount of potential victims and likelihood of success, and then follow through. He stood next to one of his child victims before putting the bomb down...

It sucks, but he certainly isn't a poor kid. He made the decision to go along with it and to accept whatever was offered up to him. I in no way place any blame on the other brother or anyone else for pulling the young one into it if that is what happened.

It certainly feels like the media want you to feel for him, everything and everyone who they have contacted about him has shown him to be affable, untroubled and normal. In comparison there is hardly a scent on the older brother. I agree as a 19 year old he is culpable for his actions and should face a fair trial and a fair conviction, if he is guilty. I do however, if what we are led to believe is true, think that most likely an outside influence got to him and turned him and that at one point he was a normal human being.

He's talking about the people who kept naming Sunil and we're convinced it was him. Dude got Ryan Lanza'd hard. People learn nothing.

And the sad part of the story is that he's still missing correct? It was the family looking for him that got the brunt from the parts of the internet that don't know or care about due process and identity confirmation.

Well, we should just let him run free then.

What would your remedy be?

These didn't just kill three civilians, they killed three civilians, injured another 150+ more, killed a cop, injured another 15, and ran.

What did you advocate doing?

Am I alone in feeling like the military like lockdown of this city just feels like a bit much?

If this was 24 and a guy was running around with a briefcase nuke, I'd totally get it, but this is one punk with maybe a gun, and maybe a grenade or two. I know that's a serious threat, but I'm just not sure what to make of so many "troops" rolling through the streets of an American City.

It's certainly setting a precedent.

i wonder how much money gets wasted with this search?

I'm not in the camp of this is all unnecessary to shut down the city.

I am in the camp of shit like this being unnecessary.

sigh

So every single night someone it shot to death in Chicago. Does that mean they should have "troops" rolling through the streets of that city to make sure not one more person gets shot tonight?

Martial law in essence, to catch one guy. Sad.

Maybe it's just me, but these photos make me feel kind of bad. Despite the fact that it's important to find this guy, I don't think think it justifies the extent of an event this has become via locking down whole of Boston with enormous amounts of police and soldiers, and going thoroughly through every random person's private residences.

Allegedly responsible. Kind of a big deal as well.

Like um, why are the cops wasting their time with this? I'm sure a phone call or a carefully worded letter would've made these two guys turn themselves in. I mean, I wasn't at the marathon, why should my tax money get spent on trying to find these guys?

Edit: Apparently even this blatant sarcasm can be misunderstood. But then again, what should I have expected considering most people here are believing all the BS that 4chan/CNN/reddit puts out and asks for more.

Just watched the interview on CNN. People really loved him...
Just wondering. What are the chances they really did get the wrong guy? What if he really is just a scapegoat to calm down the many people who are angered?

ot
nope

so listening to this police scanner why do they even broadcast on open air, and not on like a secret one or something.

its crazy how they can do this to a city, truly shows what the government can do if they needwant to..

How the fuck is it legal to just search everyone's fucking house?

People are found and arrested everyday without shutting down cities. Let law enforcement work as it's supposed to.

SWAT in your living room RT @MunKYBoii Just got searched for safety measures for the #manhunt in #watertown

I'm sorry but this doesn't look like the USA. Can people refuse to allow them in in this situation?

Apparently from all the bites, i'm amazed people cannot decipher blatant sarcasm in reference to people complaining about the cost and effort of the manhunt. Shrug.

Says who? What imminent threat and of what magnitude?

For some people of a certain political bent, that scenario still isn't justification enough, the whole system being wrong/evil and all, y'know.

Is this whole thing approaching the territory of "what if they don't find him?" Do they just ask Bostonians to resume their normal lives even though the guy is still on the loose?

Do they actually have any clue where he is? Is he even definitely in Watertown? Is it a case of when, not if, or could this drag on and on?

After the brave, intelligent and courageous response to the bombings which led to identified suspects within days, I'm worried that the longer this manhunt continues the more people are going to turn on the authorities. I'm already reading and hearing murmurs about how they let him get away, how they can't find him, wasted tax dollars, etc.

Lots of ignorant juniors in this thread. I think I'll post this link with a photo gallery to just remind you why this has happened.

What if they catch him and he blames everything on his brother? Like he has nothing to do with it, he was just with him?

I still don't get how he escaped after the shootout :/
After his older brother had the bomb strapped to him, they were probably extremely cautious about the second brother. They already lost one suspect. They wanted to bring him in in a cop car not a body bag.

The 7/11 robbery doesn't make any sense to me, why would they go and do this after their faces get plastered all over the news as bombing suspects?

Because they are batshit crazy evil fucks? I mean once you cross the line you are willing to coldly and with forethought murder men, women and children then I dont expect any kind of logical behaviour.

They are just mad dogs who need to be stopped. The lives and well being of the terrorists dont matter, just the cops and citizens there. Hopefully the fucker is already dead, if not lets hope they get him soon.

if they went to get gas at a 7/11, the next logical step if i was them was an escape route.
i wouldn't be surprised if the kid is long far gone from the tri-state area.

I honestly think dude escaped the perimeter in the night or something while cops were being distracted by a multitude of explosives. That bit always seemed sketchy for me.

Seems like an immature douche (homophobic, misogynist, says "nigga" and other ebonics even though he's not black, self-absorbed, etc.), but a pretty normal immature douche. He also seems rich.
Terrorism is an occupation of the middle/upper classes. The lower ones don't have the means nor time to engage in it (without say, widespread unemployment or instability in the region.)

I just wanna laugh at all the people in this thread and all over the internet that were CONVINCED it was the dude that has been missing.

FUCK off with that shit. EAT CROW.

Thanks for the people in this thread reminding people of what has been confirmed and not confirmed.

These types of posts, at this point, are just as awful/annoying as those speculative posts were....

We get it.

How are people still surprised when friends/relatives and neighbors say that the suspects were nice or quiet and that they would have never expected them to commit such an act? It's a cliche at this point.

1) The older brother was described by his own uncle, this morning (before he knew they were wanted for the marathon bombing) as "a loser and a prick." He had nothing good to say about him.

2) he did not have a future in boxing... he's 26 and was boxing in independent circuits in small Massachusetts towns.

3) The 19 year old got a $2500 scholarship to a mediocre public college in Massachusetts. I mean, sure, that's better than nothing but it's not like he was some prodigy.

But, it is a good question, why would any two people do this. It's a legitimate question to ask, but when it starts to get towards the "why would any two people do this, therefore I think that it is a setup/conspiracy," that's another question all together.

I am not saying it's a conspiracy or anything by any means I just find the situation odd. I don't like the shit conspiracy theorists come up with and never have. Once they catch the kid and evidence starts coming out, I think all questions will be answered. And although those things seem minor to you, I would imagine those are pretty good for immigrants.

That's a fair point.

Just tuning in, but they say he (or someone) threw another pressure cooker bomb at the police, but yet they don't know where he is? Who the hell threw the bomb?

Still missing and completely badmouthed by parts of the media and parts of the internet last night, stuff posted places. So his family has to deal with that aftermath on top of their missing son, nephew, brother, etc.

Fuckin' assholes make me sick.
