Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Aight Vitabros let's do this legit.

I made a quick Google Docs spreadsheet.

If we use this Team Sonic could be ours in no time.

If you go to PS3trophies.org it will take you no more than a day to get it done.

Top of the page;

PS1 recommendations-

FFIX
Metal Gear Solid
Castlevania Symphony of the Night

PSP on Vita Recommendations-

Untold Legends
Ape Escape On the Loose

PSV Recommendations-

Soul Sacrifice
Little Big Planet Vita
Persona 4 Golden
Guacamelee

Oh, I thought you meant it was dimming for the rest of the game. That's just the input inactivity standby.

Well the input inactivity standby feature can suck my dick. Whoever invented it needs to be smacked over the head with a long cut-scene.

Setting auto-standby to 10 minutes like the link I posted earlier recommended doesn't effect it either.

Make them play MGS4 with that feature on. :P

If someone in germany is looking for Sony US Vita cradle, I have one (used but fine, without packaging) for 20€ inkl. shipping.

I mean, shit, they basically threw up their hands and made it an indie handheld as a last-ditch effort since people aren't buying the system and aren't buying the AAA ports that come.
Indie games are something Sony has been pursuing for all their platforms. SCEA has a separate indie team in the 3rd party relations group, so these games would be coming regardless of how successful their other plans for the Vita were.

I picked up Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū 2012 for fairly cheap as there's a newer version of it out in Japan. Not sure the difference. (does anyone know?)
Looks like it's updated rosters, attributes, and uniforms.
Heh, yeah they did a updated re-release less than 6 months afterwards. The 2013 edition should be announced soon.

Working my way through Gucamelee at the moment. Great game so far, and it has a high level of polish.

Has there been any word on playstation mobile being rolled out to more countries? Would be nice to have access to that library as well on the Vita.

I use the PDP Pull N Go case. Holds my 15 retail carts with room to spare, and holds two memory cards as well. There's a pull out case that holds just the Vita and 4 game carts that is in the bigger case with velcro, too. Sometimes I'll just take the little Vita case out if I'm going to work or something, and then if I go to my fiancee's house I'll take the whole pull n go case so I can bring all my games.

Unless it's a really long trip I can never understand why people would carry around an entire collection. Lose it, everything's gone!

Anyone played that Dragon Fantasy RPG?

Any impressions?
Wait for the hit rate patch to release, otherwise it'll be a frustrating experience. Otherwise, it's a really fun game and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Cute graphics and charming writing. It's exactly like the title implies, a mix of oldschool Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

You know, I might be down for this, but I have a very important exam next week, so it would be great to know when you guys are more or less thinking of doing this

The purpose of the spreadsheet will be to set a time and date. Playing with US and Canada usually we wound up using something like 6-8pm GMT --> noonish in US/Canada.

I'll put down a date just to see the response, let's say Saturday April 27th @ 7pm GMT

Cant the same be said for anybody who carries a full digitally loaded system?

Downloading the Soul Sacrifice demo, had to delete FF7.

Soul Sacrifice is awesome.. I'm probably gonna preorder now

hmm..
after Guacamelee... I'm really hoping for more games with that kind of art direction
(bright/cheery/colorful)

3PM Eastern sounds good to me.

OK, Soul Sacrifice is the shit. I really hope it gets support overseas.. I might just even preorder now..
How long until I get to play online, I think Im at Ordeal 5 now

Okay, that sounds good! Count me in (added myself to the spreadsheet)

You know what's even more funny than all the ridiculous region locking PSM stuff Sony does?

The Official PlayStation app. It launched in Europe more than two years ago on Android/iOS. Still not out in any other region.

Just updated my vita it's been collecting dust! Besides NFS Most Wanted and Wipeout are there any other good racing games out there for this?? Any good imports?
I will say this, after not using the Vita for so long the OLED display is beautiful!
The colors look insane.

I was just asking my buddy yesterday if such a thing existed...
I am actually surprised it's not in NA, doesn't need any translation. Wonder if it's extremely buggy or something.

Ugh. Sound Shapes won best 2012's handheld game at the Canadian Video Game Awards.

Fuck Sound Shapes. T_T
Nah, fuck Mass Effect 3. Robbed a lot of games. Including Sound Shapes!

Its terms of mobile, it's definitely the most notable game on the list. What's wrong with that?

I just really hate that game. I don't get why people like it so much.
Neat platformer with some good tracks. It's better than iPad ports of decade old RPGs, anyway.

I guess the moral of the story is, Klei needs to get off Xbox and into the mobile/handheld space.

Oh hey, MechWarrior is from a Canadian dev? Had no idea. I always forget about these Vancouver studios.

i know allot of people on Gaf like to hate on it, but Brian (retro city rampage) is making a new game for the Vita. Confirmed at the fullindie summit, I dont know if it was worse on consoles, but I thought it was great on Vita, lots of fun.

SCEA considered bringing it over, but the didn't think it was good enough. Expect something fancier to launch with the PS4.

People seem to like Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed. The Milestone racers (WRC 3 and MUD) have more of a mixed reputation.

It's a fun throwback but it's buggy. When you change equipment sometimes, the game will crash.

I'd wait for a patch if I were you.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
My Singing Monsters
Shellrazer
Sound Shapes
The Bard’s Tale

Seriously. Where the heck is MBA. Damn you, Victor Lucas!

I'm struggling to think of other good Canadian handheld games in 2012, but I'm coming up empty right now, lol. At least I know for 2013 we'll have two awesome games in Luigi's Mansion and Guacamelee duking it out. Maybe even the handheld Arkham game that's coming up, assuming it turns out any good. That's WB Games Montreal, right?

Apparently a lot of mobile garbage. But still. :U

Actually, shit, Mutant Blobs Attack should have won over Sound Shapes. Easily!
Technically, Sound Shapes is also a console game. Maybe it shouldn't have been there at all. :P

Edit: Lol, that's a horrible list. I agree with the Sound Shapes win out of those nominees.

Retro City Rampage is also ommited, but likely came around too late to be nominated. 2013 is looking little it'll be a better year for Canadian handheld rep.

Agreed

I hope the new batman game will have combat as good or better than Guacamelee!! Loved the combat in Guac cause u had to use different abilities and it never became a button masher experience for me

Yeah, definitely!

I'm secretly hoping for a Super TIME Force Vita port, but I know if it does happen it'll probably be 2014 at the earliest. :p

I thought the handheld game was being done by Armature, the ex-Retro guys. Retro are Texas based right? I would guess Armature are as well then.
