Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Soul Sacrifice is a demo done right. I am totally hooked, counting the days to the final release.

Pretty incredible how the online is good in SS. It is intuitive, lag-free and it actually works.

and sad thing is the quality of Sony first party (not only on handheld) went to crap since after 2008.

and his recent weird decisions on focusing on PS3(like GT6 on PS3,Santa Monica/GOWA on PS3) is just so bizarre...but oh well he posts on Twitter so I guess he is cool or something.

*and before Sid attack me,this is not because he rejected Folklore 2*
Why the hell would I 'attack' you? you made some really good points,GoW:A(which should have been WAY better than it is if developed right),GT6 and TLOU should have been saved for the PS4,a new system desperately needs as many killer apps as possible as quickly as possible.Even their portable suffers because of the douche known as Shuhei Yoshida.

I disagree on that 'after 2008' statement though.Sony always brings it's A game on it's consoles so I can't be mad at him on that front.

It's easy to say that those games should have been on the PS4 but they also need to make money now.

PS4 version=no money? hell that ass backwards thinking is what has them struggling now, such games early on in the PS4's lifecycle would prove to be more profitable in the long term and I don't just mean in the monetary terms.

Because Sony has no games planned to be released for the PS4 on launch.

I'd rather they keep supporting the PS3 with good games than pull a Nintendo and go "smell ya later!" and drop all support for their current, still active console for the one that's not even out yet.

Well TLOU probably couldn't have been made on the ps4 unless the dev budget would have become too bloated as it is in development for 4 years already. I think, though that GT 6 should have been PS4 next year for holidays to have a huge seller. And I think GoW:A should have been a SSM Vita game. That would have a huge hype behind it, it would help sell the system and many of the flaws of the game (like the story that doesn't add anything complaint) would have been forgiven as the game would be treated as a spin-off only.

I wouldn't go as far as calling the man a douche. He interacts with the industry and his fans over Twitter, something you don't see very often. Problem is, Sony has always had difficulty with managing two platforms simultaneously. It showed with the PSP, and now again with the Vita. The Vita has a few big name titles coming out this year, but lack of marketing is slowly killing these franchises. PSP had commercials out the ass and new IPs (Loco Roco, Patapon, The Con), as well as tremendous third party support from the likes of Rockstar and EA, just to name a couple. Yet, the system was dead to me by 2008, when the best thing you could do was buy Lumines, install CFW, and do anything you wanted with the device. The lackluster PS3 needed help, and Sony shifted all of their resources to that platform. They even admitted that. Revealing a brand new console a couple months after launching your first portable was a mistake. Not to mention that it got delayed and would not come out for another year and a half.

As a fan of the Vita,he is undoubtedly a giant douche.
As a fan of the PS home consoles,he is pretty awesome.

Sure they have launch games planned but you and Sony need to look up the word system seller in the dictionary. These games didn't all have to come out at launch.

There will be a PS4 version of all their main franchises so I fail to see your point.

Actually he loves the Vita. He posts about it all the time on Twitter and plays it a lot. That's what is so odd about the whole situation. Almost makes me think it's somebody higher up than him at Sony to blame for the lack of Vita games.

Oh bite me. How do you that those games would sell more on the PS4 versus the PS3, which already has an established install base? If they think they can sell as PS3 games, then there's absolutely no problem with releasing them as such. Again, you're acting as if Sony don't have developers working on interesting games made to run on the PS4 in mind.

Either way, dropping the conversation cause it's gone off-topic.

Gonna pick up Black Rock Shooter once it pops up on the store. I thought it'd launch at $40, but it's a neat impulse buy at $20.

^^

What's not to get? the sooner they release system sellers the higher will be the intial uptake which goes a long way in ensuring the platform's success.

Or he's pandering like a major executive should. ;-)

Sony doesn't abandom their consoles the moment successior comes out or 2 years before ;)
Who said they should? just keep the big games from their first parties away from it's current console in the year it's successor is supposed to come out and instead put them on it.

That's practcally the definition of abandoning a console IMO.

What type of games would you suggest they release, if not franchises which have established that they can sell on that particular console?

EDIT: Especially when Sony historically sell their new consoles at a loss?

Move the estabilished franchises on to the next console to maximise intial uptake, end of argument.

10 year old ports in the form of Sly and Jak and Daxter collections are the only first party games announced for the Vita this year I think.

I can't believe we're at a point where people are complaining about the Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter console games coming to a handheld.

Sly Collection rated by the ESRB for the Vita.

Not a fan of this Sony.

You are not a fan of good PS2 games getting playable Vita versions?

I mean, sure, Sony should be putting a lot more exclusive content on Vita but putting these PS2 Collections on the system is a good move.

I, personally, would be interested on almost every PS2 HD Collection released until now, but I have no interest on buying them on PS3/360.

More games is always good but ports of ports does not help the Vita's library. It just seems like an easy out for Sony. God forbid I have an opinion on this $250 piece of hardware.

Yeah, that's true. These releases would be great 'filler' releases if there was also good, original and exclusive support.

Still, I can't complain about getting these PS2 games.

Sid, tone it down a bit. I agree with you that Sony needs to announce new games, but it doesn't have to involve getting in a heated argument in the one thread where civil discussion about the Vita can take place.
