"Luigi's Pie Factory"
Holy fucking shit I'm dying
I can't believe that Pikmin 3 isn't coming out until August now. They better be polishing that thing to perfection with online multiplayer or some amazing hidden feature that we haven't seen yet. I thought the game was pretty far along already on Wii and while I understand that it does take some time to upres/update the graphics (besides the ground ones...), I don't see how it can take this long unless they're adding something else or really are that incompetent yet at HD development...

Nintendo gave third parties a nice window to fill with games and become
established on a new console especially with new IPs.
Most of these companies, for whatever reason, squandered this opportunity.
This list might be fake, but I dont think, in light of third party performance,
and the launch of two competitive consoles, that Nintendo is going to have an
anemic offering this fall. I would not be surprised if most those games will
come out this year with an "evergreen" strategy.
The bolded part - THIS. THIS, TOO HARD. The Wii U hasn't failed. 'Third parties' have failed the Wii U (Collectively, not all).
No. Third parties simply had projections about Wii U sales (that proved to be accurate) and thus did not decide to actively support the system. I wouldn't call it failure, I'd call it a smart business decision.

I partially want to believe this list is fake to be honest. On one hand it does mean that we've got games lined up for fall, but on the other it means Nintendo literally has no surprises in store. Unless this was somehow retroactively edited I want to think this is just some lucky guesses on someone's part. What are they going to have at E3, just a bunch of release dates?
I'm not really buying it. I'm looking forward to megatons just as much of the next guy but this would be rather underwhelming.
It was a projection that executed itself.
They weren't on board even before we really knew anything about it. I'm guessing it's actual performance in the marketplace didn't have anything to do with it.
Not really. The Wii U in its first two months had done better than the 360, PS3 and almost as well as the Wii, but third parties wrote it off then, if not already before.
It had nothing to do with poor sales because the poor sales numbers hadn't begun at that point
Pretty much.
If they had supported the Wii U, even with same-time ports, during the period of low sales, then the sales would not have been bad, or at least certainly not AS bad.
Instead, they only opted for launch with late, mostly half-arsed ports.
That's what I said. They had projections that proved to be accurate. Publishers simply did not expect high profits arising from Wii U development, they did not see demand for their titles on that platform. And up to this point, they were right. (Even if their projections were not accurate, things wouldn't have changed as the example of the Wii illustrates...)
A retrospective view on sales does not always make sense when looking at future prospects. Also, most people will agree that only very few will buy Wii U ports of 3rd party titles - the people interested in those games already have a PS3 and Xbox 360. What about Wii U exclusives? Not really lucrative at the moment (see ZombiU).
Know what a self-fulfilling prophecy is?No. Third parties simply had projections about Wii U sales (that proved to be accurate) and thus did not decide to actively support the system. I wouldn't call it failure, I'd call it a smart business decision.

When are third party launch titles ever lucrative?
If anything it was more about demographics than anything else. Sales didn't have anything to do with it. However, if they don't grow that market, then of course their games won't sell. It's just typical self-fulfilling prophecy/ Catch-22 BS.
I really want to believe this list especially with the two month old reddit post. The problem is the lack of Mario Party 3DS announced last week for the Fall. That really should be on there.

Yes, third parties sure did squander the window Nintendo in its altruistic kindness left open for them, they should have put out far more titles to lose money with terrible sales.
GUYS!!!
There's an easy way to tell if it's real:
Look at the product codes (WUP/CTR):
![]()
For games not yet out, watch when they come out and see if they have the same code, THAT must be the best we got.
You forget that there actually being releases would mean that the sales wouldn't be as terrible

The image itself was uploaded only after the last Nintendo Direct apparently.

I don't know how this is possible though as the Reddit post was not edited and you cannot replace images on Imgur.
'Unannounced titles'. Mario Party 3DS was only announced last week. If the list is from Feb, it fits.
Also, lol @ 'Wii U battery pack (very confidential)'
Game & Wario in the image - WUP-P-ASAE
My copy of Game & Wario - WUP-P-ASAJ
Presumably 'E' for English, 'J' for Japanese.
But you assume that people would actually buy the Wii U for 3rd party ports then? Or do you expect 3rd parties to develop games like ZombiU? I could only see the latter making a real impact. But you are definitely right that software is the problem, as even with a low price Wii U sales remain abysmal.
Oh shit.
Does anyone have Lego 3DS to check?
Hardware sales would still be terrible, the only difference is there would be more software selling terribly with poor or negative ROI.You forget that there actually being releases would mean that the sales wouldn't be as terrible

There is no onus or obligation on third parties to lose money propping up Nintendo's ailing system.

If there was more software out for the console, and it being a steady stream, then more people would be inclined to purchase the console. Even if they were just ports of say Tomb Raider, Bioshock etc.
Xenoblade Wii U could not be X but a porting of the Wii game (as it was listed in some online shop)
the only impossible things are SMT x FE and Smash Bros this fall

Try not to laugh and entertain this notion for a moment:
In a scenario where there was no question about third party support and with (nearly) all the major titles that came since it launched having a Wii U SKU, you can bet that that the thing wouldn't have sold as terrible as it did/does.

"Oh I can play the games I would've wanted anyway on the new system I would otherwise wait a year or two for because that's when the first party library is strong? Cool, might as well jump in now and get potentially better versions of games I would've bought for my old box."
I feel like this analysis ignores that some of the big holiday heavy hitters like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed were available at launch. Sure, there are examples like EA porting Mass Effect 3 at full price instead of the Trilogy that we can point to as third parties never giving it a chance, but I don't think the complete picture at launch necessarily suggested that third parties were never going to give the platform a chance.
TheHut lists The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Oct. 15th release, don't know if they are reliable, but I wouldn't he shocked if that was the release date.
With this boxart.

What about the UPCs?
Still, Smash Bros. this year? Whoever typed up that load of manure should've at least tried to make it the tiniest bit believable by leaving THAT off the list.
