Lack of true Wii U support tells me they are finished.
hahahaha.
Lack of true Wii U support tells me they are finished.
Press conferences are for the mainstream media. Those people who write articles for customers Nintendo is looking to recapture. They're not going to watch a stream and report on it. Completely boneheaded move.
If some tech writer for CNN or the AP goes to the press events or something noteworthy enough to make it into a mainstream press article comes out of the conferences, yes?
Did you read the OP..?What, no Nintendo at E3? Interesting indeed.
Confused. Doesn't that imply the Nintendo Directs are largely reaching people who already own the system? That doesn't seem like a particularly good thing, or evidence of wide audience reach.Uh...

You can do the math yourself, but that's a pretty respectable number.

There's still plenty of 3DS owners who could be watching Wii U stuff on the handheld to look to see if there's anything for them.
I swear the amount of illiterate people on this board is growing.
Nintendo not going HD with the Wii has finally caught up to them and now both Sony and MS are a console gen ahead. The gimmick to get all the old people in gaming has run it's course. Lack of true Wii U support tells me they are finished.
Great, they're taking directly to people who own their systems. Everyone else though...
I changed the thread title because as much as people should read the OP, I know full well many won't, and will instead throw a fit that Nintendo has apparently chosen to skip E3 entire and cancel all Wii U games, in order to better spend their days sitting around jerking each other off.
What, no Nintendo at E3? Interesting indeed.
This....If they are at E3 they will more than likely still be covering Nintendo.
You're the one that's really missing the point...
Huge mistake at an E3 where PS4 and Nextbox will be shown.
I don't get this move at all by Nintendo, but they have something else up their sleeve is my guess.
This....
no one will pass up playable smash bros, wind waker hd, mario u and mario kart.
Doesn't really matter to me as i'll find the information I need, but will it work for the mainstream? Does Nintendo care?
are you serious
Nintendo's decision to me shows that they aren't really confident that what they would show will be really attention grabbing. Nintendo Directs have been decent for news but they are mostly viewed by really big Nintendo fans. Overall, it seems that even Nintendo thinks that the only people that they can attract the Wii U to at this point are big Nintendo fans.
Sure, no doubt. But doesn't this just make the job harder? If they are at E3 they will more than likely still be covering Nintendo.
The press is clamering for anything they can get. Remember the big stink raised over Sony not showing the actual device? Even if no pricing or date is given, the media will be eating it up. Keep in mind just about every major software unveil has been unable to mention a release on platforms aside from PS4 (BF4, MGS5, Etc. - none of the publishers can mention a release on next gen until the nextbox is unveiled). We might not even get price and details from Sony and Microsoft.
Also both consoles will have been revealed before E3. This would have happened regardless and if it goes as well as they hope it will probably be permenant even when Micro and Sony have no new consoles to show.

If this reaction to this news gets any stronger, I think Nintendo may have to come in and clarify what they mean. I hope they do, because some of the misinterpretations are painful.
Sony just won E3 without a fight.

How will they get EA to come out on stage and announce their unprecedented support.

Still, it will be at e3 in some form.Smash won't be playable.
They don't need to clarifying it, because people on GAF/the internet throwing a fit don't really matter. E3 will still happen, and their games will still be there. They're still hosting press events, that press will attend and then report back from. The Nintendo Directs will still screen.
People misunderstanding or disliking the news isn't going to stop it all from happening. It's not like press are suddenly going to go "I'm confused! Nintendo isn't at E3! Wargable!" and not show up to events they'll be specifically invited to, at an event they're attending anyway.
The events will happen. The games will be played. The reports will come. All irrespective of how people feel or think today. Whether or not it plays out well will depend on the execution, and nobody can know that until it happens.
Or they could have just had events that didn't suck.
To me this reeks of them having no confidence in not having a shitty event, because not having an event at all is better than what they had last year. Which doesn't bode well for announcements.

I'm not going to search this information out. I don't particularly care for Nintendo style games and people like me are not going to spend the time looking up individual games that we wouldn't have otherwise. Were these games shown in one video I would watch the other games like commercials and may find one interesting that I wouldn't have otherwise, while still waiting for my blackbuster.
knew they couldn't compete
But there will most probably be an E3 Direct where Iwata will go through their whole future line-up in one video.I'm not going to search this information out.
