Yea I would love to see it but lets face it by the time MS force Kinect into the game it won't be worth playing.

Why do you say that? The didn't do it with Halo or Gears or Forza or Alan Wake's American Nightmare or the up coming State of Decay. Everyone just keep parroting the same line about Kinect and it just isn't happening.

They need something to fit their narrative
:P

I thought GAF would enjoy the following picture:

Crazy that Paul Thurrott prediction thread have way more replies than this main thread
Guess because it seems negative?
This is the second thread about this announcement. The previous one was at 1450 posts,

Also this thread has been cleaned up now and probably got 100 posts deleted.

Still crazy?

Paul Thurrott sounds like he knows of an "always online" feature, but he doesn't know what that entails. That's just conjecture, but that's what I got from the article and tweet.

Yeah I think he's heard stuff but not enough to put together the whole picture or know how it will function.

He was told "must be internet-connected to use" and noted it down exactly like that in January.

To use what is the question.
There is no omitted context. I'm not selectively quoting and what was really meant was "must be internet-connected to use [internet explorer and streaming or online multiplayer games]"

That sentence is to be read as 'must be internet-connected to operate', if you watched the discussion in the interview that is the interpretation that was used while discussing it.

I think gaming offline will work no problem. I think it is the 'Google TV' type functions that of course will require the internet connection. I also see Kinect being needed for the voice search.

Question? He already said to use the system itself.

If that were the case, he wouldn't say that he has no idea to that twitter comment. It's not going to be that clear-cut or he would have just said "yes."

In preparation for gif-mania, what's the best free site to host larger gifs? A couple of my earlier ones got pared down to squeeze in under 5mb, and the quality suffered.

Process: process(infinite)
begin
variable infinity: integer := '0';

--XBox Infinity,
if( infinity = '0') then
infinity <= '0';
else
infinity <= '1';
end if;
end case;

nintendo ditch e3 thread is got more page/post than this.

no hype for neXtbox. o_O

I think Nintendo leaving the traditional E3 press-conference route is more interesting and stimulating than another day of next Xbox rumors, even if they're from someone as credible as Thurrott.

Baseless? Yeah, ok.

You know your post history is visible yeah? Not that it needs checking, you're in every thread having a crack.

So did Sony change the ram because of the rumored Xbox having 8 gigs or was it for other reasons? I'm completely ignorant on the issue and am genuinely curious.

Yes. Sony panicked because they realised the next Xbox would have double the RAM and also Sony were likely worried they'd be unable to make substantial improvements to the OS in the future without reserving more RAM.

If you read the first page, you can see that there was an original thread but that ended up getting closed due to fanboy wars. This new thread came up later in the day once the initial shock that the reveal was actually happening set in.

Plus, it's an announcement of something which there are tons of rumors about. At this point, it's not worth getting too excited before May 21st.

It's always been a conjecture. It's based in an old note he wrote months ago and couldn't remember the context for. That's the validity were working with here.

Each time Paul Thurrott news came out he said he had no idea of the context or if it even referred to always online DRM or just the ability to be connected at all times, but every time it was used as being evidence of always online DRM. Not only that but he openly admitted his most recent source (the Forza leak) had been all over the place with what he's gotten from other sources. Some contradictory, some spot on, some stuff he knows nothing about.

There's no point doing the always online gymnastics anymore when we're so close and they only continue to prove they're not reliable.

I implore the mods to let us wage fanboy war, at least until these consoles are released to the public. Make a thread dedicated for it or something... I mean that is half the fun.

I don't think he ever ran with the Forza leak person because he said he didn't know who they were and some of it didn't match with stuff he was already aware of.

A ton of sites did run that info no questions asked, though.

This thread isn't going to be anywhere near as awesome as the Kazification, is it?

No I think there is to much strong dislike going on for us to ever have that similar glory :-/ I was hoping it would be more positive but there is a fixation on the negative rumors, instead of a nice build up like the ps4 one was getting.

People can't force these things. They have to happen naturally.

Sadly, the MS fanboys tried to force a retaliation Ballmer-gif-thread WAY too early. They blew their load prematurely.

This news is no longer breaking. Is it now creating?

This is why I hate when titles have "Breaking" in them, a breaking story is rarely breaking for long.

Doubtful, it would have been in the pipeline long before hand, if only for cost and other hardware measures to take advantage.

If my reading of the supposed hardware is right from other places and I am remembering what I read correctly, the way the PS4 board is designed the chips they were using could simply be changed for a higher density version if they became availible. The dev kits up to 2013 were 4GB GDDR5 which is what all the rumours had which are 2Gb density chips in clamshell, so on both sides of the motherboard. 4Gb density chips are going into mass production at the beginning of this year which is why the specs changed from 4GB to 8GB.

lol! more plz.

The fact that some people even noticed much less commented on it clearly shows they are way to emotionally attached.
Yes,because it grow a lot faster than this thread
And yeah maybe you will say "it's growing pretty fast in here too",but that's because people talking about same thing from Paul Thurrott thread,again

probably.

i think despite prevailing gaf opinion otherwise, that a xbox with 1.2 tf gpu and 5gig game ram (with possibility to increase) vs a ps4 with 1.8 and 3.5, woulda been basically a push.

but now when it's 8 v 8, that changes things.

Who would you use? Ballmer looks like some greedy fat-cat type. And Mattrick is just fucking annoying with that shit-eating grin of his.

Bill Gates I like though. You guys should do Gates-ification even though it doesn't make much sense.

I think this illustrates a deeper and more meaningful point.

Microsoft needs a respectable face to its Xbox brand.
