Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

the thread just feels different without him :(
he had his annoying parts... but in general, I think he added value to the thread

This thread feels much better without him. Though, he is still on the forum, so I'll keep him on my ignore list just to feel safe of his shitty comments.

Imo thomas was alone is a good game but nothing great, it's too easy(i'm at world 7 or 8 i think) and green rectangle collaborations apart there's nothing really original, many of the rectangles have only different jump heights, "characterization" is good, but everything feels too "indie", i feel like it throws a little smoke in the eyes to cover a game that is not that excellent or original.

That's the point. Sony clearly funded AC:L and COD:D, if they fell for it then basically every other big studio out there would be playing the same game.
Not as such, it's my understanding that direct funding is very rare. Co-marketing deals are the usual pratice. "We've got X millions to spend on Vita advertising. Do you want it to be Assassin's Creed/CoD on Vita advertising?"

well to be fair we do already have a couple of examples, devolver already announced hotline miami 2 will happen and they are trying to ensure day and date with the PC version.
Yeah, the Hotline Miami guys said specifically that having an established relationship with a porting studio familiar with their engine, would make a multiplatform PC/PS3/Vita release for the sequel possible.

I finally had the time to play Soul Sacrifce demo (yes, a bit behind) and sweet jesus, the game is so freaking awesome! This game has an identity of its own and is also made for single player in mind, something that I don't expect nowadays from multiplayer focused RPGs. Also the lore is very welcome, voice acting is rather fitting and the soundtrack is fantastic. Game is on pre-order now.

Smart As has also has been bought and I feel like it has been a good decision. The menu is very pleasing, community aspect is pretty interesting and I have enjoyed some of the games I got to play. This will make a good daily session amongst other games.

And if that wasn't enough, Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz has arrived from Amazon and I haven't had the chance to start on that one. Fucking hell, the Vita is making my other systems obsolete at this rate.

Add another voice to the "Thomas Was Alone is great" crowd. Knew next to nothing about it going in but I'm really enjoying it. Will finish it then pick up the DLC.

This is a scary admission for me to make, but I'm enjoying the Vita so much right now that it's entirely feasible for me NOT to day one the PS4. Nothing to do with the console itself (which looks amazing), but I get so little time with the PS3 at the moment it seems pointless.

Just think, with remote play all of those PS4 games -are Vita games-. Full-scale console games on your Vita.

I'm probably not going to pick one up at day 1 because early launches involve game droughts and highest prices.

A question about the Sound Shapes DLC: do they all come with additional levels or are they just add-ons for the level creator?

Well they've been doing a pretty darn good job at it :P SCEE and SCEJ are at least trying to save the Vita :( SCEA doesn't seem to care..

Don't confuse ineptitude with lack of caring. Promotion, clear messaging and shitty store updates are also a problem for the ps3 in North America.

It's also worth pointing out that this entire indie outreach has been an SCEA endeavor. So if SCEA didn't exist the vita would have had about 5 releases in 2013.

Where the hell have you been!

And more importantly, how have you been?
Getting SS?

Howdy :)

I'm not sure where I've been. I read this thread daily but i obviously haven't contributed much in a while. Mostly because I haven't heard much of anything exciting since batman. This fall, if you aren't getting a ps4, may be bleak. To be expected though i guess.

I've been good though. Thanks for asking :) How have you been?

Like I can add it to my cart and purchase it and everything, it wouldn't let me buy it twice, makes no sense! I don't have a Vita right now, but it would suck to lose Rayman :(

The PS3 and Vita stores are not properly integrated. E.g., when you get a cross-buy title, if you make the purchase on the Vita, then the PS3 store fails to display that it's been purchased. But on attempting to purchase again, it will check and realize you own it.

So I just watched a video on Youtube, then started my browser, then started a game, then turned on a song on Music Unlimited and switched back to my game.
Finally the Vita is multitasking, feels so good and was about time, it's 2013.

Trying to get the no death trophy in PSABR is a pain. I just need to one trophy for the plat, so I can finally delete this game. I'm trying 2v2 but no luck so far.

edit: just got it, some random dude did all the dirty work, lol.. Time to free my Vita of 2.5GB.

Just traded in.....a bunch of Vita games for NGS2+,played around for an hour and the port is meh,I wish they would have dialed down the graphics a bit for better performance still the game is fun.

Hi guys, I have small question.

Is it bad having the system on for extended periods of time? Will the battery get damaged by being plugged in for hours while playing (even if it's finished charging)?

Reason I'm asking, is because the Soul Sacrifice demo has been keeping my Vita quite busy. It stays on charge for most of the day while I'm playing, and lasts for about 6 hours unplugged on lowest brightness with online play at night. The system gets slightly warm when playing plugged in.

Good question. Battery health is a topic that confuses me as well.

You can plug in for like a month and it still shouldn't give you a problem. The problem arises when you don't charge often enough. Lithium batteries needs to be charged for maximum efficiency. (So yes, if you have li-ca battery, don't do any of those 'use it to the end and charge it' method)

Your vita gets warm is more likely not because of the charge but because of the CPU use.

I've been playing with mine plugged in since launch. I think once the battery is fully charged. It stops charging, and no harm is done to it (could be wrong)

I let battery drain a few times a week (not completely, just before getting the low battery warning). I still get maximum use out of my battery.

Thanks man. Good to know.
Either way, I think I need to step away from this game for a while. It's addictive, and I am slowly losing self control.

I'd like to ask for an addition to the first post. That would be the list of all games that require an online pass, in case you'd buy them on second hand. I can't seem to find a thorough list and this is something I've been wondering on quite a few games allready.

Unless someone has a link to a good list. That'd be cool too.

I think every first-party Sony game that supports online multiplayer has an online pass. Don't know about other games though.

I am kind of hoping that someone picks up Demon Gaze for localization, been kind of wanting a dungeon cralwer to mess around with, and the game look decent. I guess Xseed would be the best bet for it, so hopefully they can make it happen. The fall lineup for Vita actually looks pretty good in my opinion, especially when you add in all the possible indie additions.

Yeah, I can do that later today. I'll put up every game I know that has an online pass! Shouldn't be too hard.

Nope. It is now a 'small' app so you can now watch youtube videos while playing a game.

Awesome!!! This should have been how the youtube app functions from the start.

I want more (western)open world goodness(saint row spinoff, fallout 3 or 4 spinoff and might & magic vi remake would be awesome)

I would lick a dolphins eyeballs for a Bethesda RPG on Vita. Won't ever happen though.

I too would kill for an open world, Bethesda like or not RPG on the Vita. Here's some hope though:

When the PS4 launches, assuming future Bethesda open world RPGs are on it, they will be stream-able to the Vita. This is if Sony comes through with their promise/mandate that all PS4 games must come with a master copy for the Vita streaming/button mapping. I know, it's not the same as having it running on the Vita itself but we all know that'll probably never happen.

True, the indie thing is really cool but overall I think it's just been a shame, their handling of the Vita :\ Most people don't even know it exists or if they do, it's just "that platform with no games", or something along the lines of that. We all know that's not the case but I just think it's a shame.

I think the overall feeling is that they just don't care, or they're giving it a half-hearted approach. SSM and Naughty Dog generally don't want to touch the thing when it comes to their main projects, the same with many of their other studios. I understand Sony generally is very flexible with their devs but this should not be the case.

This is their new handheld, if they want it to succeed they should start getting more splinter teams working on smaller Vita projects, at the very least - like Guerilla Cambridge and the small team within MM, both making KZ: Mercenary and Tearaway. Hopefully I'm proven wrong at E3 and Sony pulls off all the stops and comes out with a few new Vita IPS ... their track record is hinting that we'll probably be let down though.

Along with Holy Sorcerer Story.

Little Big Planet Vita
WipEout 2048
Unit 13
Resistance: Burning Skies

I'm having a blank after that as I've moved to mostly digital when I buy a game.

Reality Fighters
MLB 12
MLB 13
Hot Shots Golf
Playstation All-Stars
and of course, Soul Sacrifice

Yeah, I forgot about HSG, that's one of the games that if you buy it used at GS, they'll print you an online pass.
I think they do it with VT4 too, maybe, but I might be thinking that because I was trying to buy HSG and VT4 when they had that sale that made them about $10 each. So does that mean Virtua Tennis 4 has one?

I can't believe Reality Fighters has one. That's just adding insult to injury.

Any idea how to deal with Cerberus playing solo in the SS demo? The AI is pretty much only good for sacrificing, but I find that I can't get any hits in with Stone Axe once he stops moving.

Also, I just picked up Thomas Was Alone to help tide me over til Tuesday. Was not expecting it to be such a great fit on Vita. I can only hope that cross-buy continues with indie titles on the PS4. 3DS is fine and all, but the indies there seem way too hit-and-miss in terms of quality.

Bring no AIs for him to have lower HP. Golem + Shield. Run up to him to spawn, drop golem, stand behind it. If he charges, shield him down into it and then blast him with ice to freeze.

Seems there's a rumor that Capcom will port Onimusha Soul (Social junk, don't get excited) to Vita: http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7079796.html

It looks similar to samurai & dragons that is a good game(sega i want it here! >:( ).
If there is even only one smart neuron in capcom or sega, one game between samurai & dragons and onimusha soul will be localized to take advantage of the lack of localization of the other one.

Lego is split into two build

NDS/3DS/PSV one and PS3/X360/PC

sucks we are in the first one.

The people at TT Fusion are responsible for the handheld versions. I dearly wish they'd stop leading the development on NDS, then porting to 3DS and Vita. The Vita ports are a crime against the hardware.
