Respawns shooters, Black Tusks shooter... I'm not sure man.

Oh you know I slightly forgot about those games. The Respawn game will obviously be multiplatform but it makes sense to try and capture the following of that games on the Xbox. Who knows if their game will be good or not but best to have the upper hand.

As far as Black Tusk goes, I am really interested in seeing what they have to offer. The fact that they are directly aiming at being a game the caliber of Halo really interests me.

Thank you. It definitely sounds like they know something, their 2hr pre event show must be something really special if they don't intend to waste people's time/not a filler pre-show.

Also interesting comments about MS possibly not showing any games at this event, but instead waiting until E3. Not sure how believable that is, but I certainly don't expect there to be more than one or two games shown with a reel teasing other games.

It will probably be announcements of games, exclusive content, etc.

Phil Spencer tweeted there will "definitely be games" at the event.

Late September would be perfect.

For multiple reasons.

-early install base that can buy more 4th Quarter software

-larger software library come Holiday season

-marketing campaign, word-of-mouth, etc. will have gained ground

-more features will be available to the Holiday buyers

-Microsoft will be able to adjust how many units they'll need to meet demand

I think it would be perfect; all of those things would lead up to a better prepared strategy for the holiday season.

Third-party exclusives are on their way back. They'll fade out over time just like this generation, but I think they're coming back and in full force as install bases will have to be built again.

Edit: And I think GTAV on Durango is very likely. Thought so for quite a while, too.

I had always assumed Rockstar intended to release GTAV on both current and next-gen consoles, but giving either the PS4 or Durango exclusivity would be hilarious to watch unfold.

I don't understand why folks are taking Gerstmann's conjecture about third party exclusives coming back as the word of god now. He kinda mused it instead of pretending he has evidence for it.

I don't see any reasons why devs could or would do that in the face of ballooning development costs.

Though R*'s comment on no gamer sitting out GTAV this holiday is kind-of perplexing. Does that mean Wii U? If it does why haven't they announced it yet alongside other platforms? And what does it mean about next gen? I'm more inclined to think November instead of September + GTAV exclusive which was always kind of a weird link based on the delay.

I don't take as the word of god, I just think it makes perfect sense. Devs will oblige because $$$.

And it's always been whispered that MS wants the reveal, E3 showcase, and launch to follow each in other relatively quick succession. And that was the word months before GTA V was silently pushed. Taking that into account, September launch + GTA V exclusive sounds right on the money.

can you imagine. and if durango has bc.. jump in gta 5 with next gen hd pack only on durango

the meltdowns, lawd the meltdowns

I posted some time ago that I suspect that was the cause of the delay for GTA to september.

I think MS moneyhatted Rockstar to make a higher resolution version exclusive to Durango, and get it to launch with the new Xbox.

September means they get lots of time in before Christmas as well as Black Friday.

The longer we use the preliminary term "Xbox 720" the more worried I get that it's the actual name.

As I've posted a zillion times now over the past 2 years, no chance.

Because it connotes 720P, which is "old and inferior".

If anything like that it might be Xbox 1080 (but again no because soon, 4k!)

I think it's just Xbox. More and more. Or Xbox 8. One of those two.

I think I'll be fine with Xbox Loop.

fuck it.

lets start properly hyping this shit.

September - GTA 5, Halo Anniversary 2 (using next gen halo 4 engine... god bless corrine yu) and Project Gotham and RYSE... day one.

I'm calling it now.

:D

It's not only Gerstmann. It's confirmed that EA is doing with MSFT via crazy buttocks.

I still think just 'Xbox' is the safe bet for the name. If they do want to add something I would assume Xbox Infinity (using the symbol in the logo), but I'm not expecting it. Microsoft has been rebranding all their entertainment stuff to Xbox, so I don't see why you wouldn't just call your console that.

The only reason I could think of not calling it Xbox would be some concern over casuals not understanding the difference between a new Xbox and a new Xbox 360 revision (if they happened to call their Xbox 360 just Xbox). I doubt that would happen, though.

If it has all that BC business, I could also potentially see it being called Legacy, which someone suggested earlier in this thread.

"Xbox 8" doesn't make any sense. If you're looking for synergy with the other Microsoft ventures, Windows and WP will reach the number 9 well before the nextnext Xbox, then what?

I suspect that moneyhatting GTAV next gen probably wouldn't be all that much money, since it would be released at the beginning of the generation, with PS3 and X360 versions already available, and so likely wouldn't push all that many units on 720.

Heh, MS moneyhat everything.

Ok then, soooo, so far folks reckon that MS has some type of exclusive deal with EA (FIFA + Battlefield), COD and GTA?

I think the console war is over. Sony may as well not even turn up.

Apple send an iPad 2 and an iPad. The iPad is the new one. Same thing here.

Changing the name of the 360 revision would be weird. I could see them talking on mini or something.

They haven't so far.

Any particular reason we think GTAV is exclusive again all of the sudden?

Well, what do you call it when a next gen version of GTA V is on one next gen machine and isn't on the other? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

All kidding aside, the delay for GTA V's release was fishy and it seems like precisely the type of thing that Microsoft would do. They have the money to easily secure an exclusive, and it would be in the best interest of their newly launched next gen machine to do so. It'd be like chump change to Microsoft, and the return on investment could effectively secure the next xbox as the next gen leader in North America for years to come.

How much would a GTA V exclusive moneyhat cost? I'm thinking $50 million at the very least.

The only exclusive news we have so far is...

Sony (most likely) has Final Fantasy.

Microsoft HAS an EA exclusive that isn't Battlefield, but a 'big' franchise.

An established franchise going exclusive is a big risk for a publisher, because there is a chance they could alienate all users on a specific platform. I can only see this happening with new IPs.

So far we got next-gen GTA V, EA/Bethesda IP, COD DLC, Respawn timed exclusives. We missing any other ones?
MS can easily make this shit happen btw. Believe it.
