It's so enlightening to see so many the last few pages say emulation is impossible I have been the only one saying it was. You then say you wouldn't rule it out and instead of calling out those that said it was impossible you single me out LOL.

You need to reevaluate your positions when even the person who comes closest to agreeing with you needs to point out that you're wildly off-base. He doesn't need to "Grow a pair," you need to grow a god damned mind. Yes, there will surely be some PS3 games that will be released for PS4. You're flat delusional if you think that "most" or even a large significant amount will be available any time near launch.

Don't get me wrong, the fact that my PSN library can't be carried over to the next Playstation is one of the primary reasons why I'm almost certainly done with console gaming. But I don't go fabricating reality around what I'd like to be true.

Fuck off. I don't need to call them out because I'm not a child. I can acknowledge that it may be impossible but I'm not ruling it out. Why? Because I ruled out PS2 emulation on the PS3 and turned out to be wrong 4 years later. But the fact is that the Cell is a very complicated piece of hardware and emulating it on a completely different (and not really that powerful) CPU isn't fucking child's play like you seem to think it is.

And yeah, I'm singling you out because you've continually moved your goal posts throughout this entire argument. Your original argument was that the PS3 emulator would be there at the PS4 launch and that's 100% bullshit.

I think you are actually. I'm right that ps3 emulation is possible on ps4 and that means that current digital titles might be on the ps4. Others said that was impossible THEY are wrong. The ONLY thing I could be wrong about is that they will be available at launch and if you look at my original post I said "think" so I wasn't even making a certain statement so I can't be wrong. This was all I said.

I don't know about that. We won't get free new games but that is because every game at launch will be the first release, the free games are always games that have been out awhile. I think we will still get free games but they will be classic titles.

The bolded didn't really happen though. Your quotes didn't really prove that it was possible, just that Yoshida was taking using emulation into consideration; even though even he admitted it might only work for a small amount of games.

Yoshida’s reaction was simple and to the point. “Sorry, we are not providing that native compatibility on the PS4. But we are trying to come with some ways to provide more services, and our libraries to the PS4.”

When asked if these possible solutions are something Sony is still trying to work out, his answer was direct. “Yes.”

I wasn't responding to anything other than what I quoted. You didn't prove that emulation was possible, all you proved was that Yoshida answered, in response to the possibility of BC, that it might be possible for a small number of games that don't take advantage of the PS3 hardware if they ever tried to work on it.

That doesn't really sound like the possibility of software emulation on the PS4 is very high at all. In fact, it sounds like he's saying it's not possible for the vast majority of PS3 titles.

But yeah, I'd love to see classics through Gaikai at some point as part of Plus, if that's going to be their focus.

PS3 emulation will absolutely not be possible on PS4. It's too complicated. We don't even have the beginnings of a PS3 emulator on PC yet and PC is an open platform.

Because Sony has no interest in working on it. It's very different to have some amateur programmers try to build an emulator without the full documentation vs the guys that actually created the hardware. Even PS2 emulation is not 100% on PC way more powerful than the PS3, yet Sony has a very capable PS2 emulator running on PS3.

I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but like Nibiru says it's also crazy to rule out the possibility completely.

Except for IBM, who was shipping a Cell emulator around the time the PS3 came out. Performance isn't anywhere near what's required for running games on any sort of modern computer though.

Performance, not complexity, is the real problem here.

I replaced the hard drive with a 1TB drive just so that I can be good with all the downloads for the next year and I'm already completely blown away with how much stuff there is to download. I only wish I could have subbed to this as soon as the instant game collection was announced last year.

The reason I'm writing this is that Sleeping Dogs was one of the games being advertised. I asked the manager if that was a mistake, pointing out it was an EU game but we haven't had it. But he said no, that's how it was supposed to be, and he thought it was a May game.

So, maybe some good news for May! I know we'd all like Sleeping Dogs, even those of us who have played it.
