Kotaku Rumor: Microsoft 6 months behind in game production for X720 [Pastebin = Ban]

it'll be alright

they got skype

That's one of the most interesting non-gaming things I want to see from this next Xbox. They can use Skype to replace Party/Private chat, so you could in theory chat or video chat even with anyone with a Skype account. That sounds super cool to me.

Quick google:

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/11...t-gen-console-is-out-next-year-but-which-one/

This could however be "Oh you know more about new consoles than we do" shenanigans and he just doesn't want to be so bold in identifying the two obvious companies to release new consoles. I assume thats what it means anyway.

I was thinking more just murmurings we'd had on gaf and this I think, Gamespot CEO:

Huh. I hadn't really taken that seriously, but huh.

Precisely. Feels like MS is stepping into the cocky shoes Sony were in, in 2006.

Sony being humbled this generation was a blessing in disguise for them and their customers.

They have not said anything about their new system, let alone announced its existence. We are getting way ahead of ourselves.

Damn... I have a good feeling Sony will make it this year. You don't unveil a console in the US for the first time, promise "Holiday 2013", and then shun us until 2014.

I'm confident Sony will deliver this year, at least in the US. Based on some of the revelations in this thread, I'm starting to lose confidence in Microsoft. Having said that, if they're relying on third-parties instead to get the platform going, well, that works too.

How do we know that Verge leaked launch lineup is even true? I don't remember reading anything in that thread that confirmed it.

The Verge has an excellent track record with leaking Xbox stuff.

It's Tom Warren from the Verge, to be more precise. He got really good sources and usually only writes something when he's sure it's going to happen. He already had a good track record before he went to the Verge.

I've been confident in Sony way before the announcement, that was just icing on the cake. The smartest decision they have done in YEARS was hire Mark Cerny as the lead architect. You watch, it will become a huge benefit for consumers and developers.

Um....they've announced Durango's existence...in a banner ad.

I personally have heard a rumor that Insomniac doesn't even possess a ps4 dev kit. I have no idea if that's true or not, but I've heard twice now. I think they had a pretty huge falling out with Sony. Bummer as I loved their work together.

I wonder WTF ever happened to the Vita version of R+C FFA? It was supposed to come out in january...

I think this dude is right, Insomniac's logo is missing from here:

I'm just interested in general to see why the fuck MS are reserving like 3GB of RAM for the OS. It's clearly not because MS don't know how to write code, because they've squeezed the WinRT kernel into mobile phones and the changes to the 360 UI over time have been nothing short of wizardry (especially when you consider that Sony still can't get PS3 apps to run smoothly).

Yes! When I heard that 3GB was going to be needed for OS, I was also kind of awestruck. As you said, MS doesn't have poor coders or something, there's something more interesting going on than just a slightly upgraded OS. I'm sure Skype replacing Game Chat will be a big part of that.

Very interesting times ahead. The 21st can't come soon enough!

They may just not have PS4 devkits yet since they've been finishing Fuse. Might as well wait for the final ones in a couple months if you're still working on current gen projects.

I dunno about this...they have been friends with Sony since the PSX. Why wouldn't their logo be on there? Why wasnt Ted at the presser? Something is going on for sure, we will find out at E3 I guess. Interesting stuff though

I figure the 3GB OS overhead is because it's running a Win8 core and extra services. Lot of abstraction there.

No need to freak out. I'm sure there are way more devs with tech than on that list. That's just a nice, eclectic list of developers for people to see and get excited about. Nothing to take as sacred.

lol

A. it's called NDAs relating to future projects and/or hardware that tie my hands pretty heavily about what I can and cannot say.

B. we were finishing Fuse at the time and still supporting FFA (we STILL have a patch with a new map coming!!!). That's a lot to focus on!

C. I think I had a pretty thorough response within the bounds of what I'm allowed to say in the other thread.

I'm going to assume by your snappy response in the other thread and your "/thread" antics that Insomniac will continue to produce products on future Sony platforms. :-)

Zombie Studios has actually made a shrine to him in their offices because of the work he's done on the PS4.

I wonder if Microsoft will do something to try and control the message. Will they leak something to Polygon that says otherwise?
