Yes, your statements have completely converted my sentiments..... oh wait, no it didn't.

It's obvious that Nintendo has run a little dry on the idea well. I loved skyward sword, the story was by far the best of any Zelda game (IMO of course), but aside from motion+ and a stamina meter we didn't really get any new gameplay features.
 
So far Retro have been 'reviving' Nintendo franchises like Metroid and DK so maybe that's a sign of things to come? F-Zero? Star Fox?

That puts them around the range of Monolith Soft and Intelligent Systems, both of whom always have 2 or more projects at one time.

Mario Kart or Starfox

The 2 series i hope Retro is not working on. Both a waste of their talents.

Mario Kart already has a competent group behind it. Starfox as a series was never that good, Sin and Punishment was far better anyway.
 
People will either be disappointed it's a game in an existing franchise.

OR

disappointed it's a game in a lame new franchise.

There is a real danger of "traditioning" a game to death. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm not against them making a new IP, but if they ARE going to work on one, I'd prefer it if they went big or nothing at all, IE Zelda.

Monolith was 92 in March last year, before they began to build up their Kyoto Studio and IntSys is 127 as of March 2012, so they're somewhere in the middle.

Fair enough. Wasn't really making a big thing of the smaller points but if they were having such troubles so far along in development it would suggest something other than Mario Kart as theres sort of a formula there, its very step by step process of production.

I will say on the article however, we have Iwata himself saying they were behind in software production, which they seemingly are only really getting over now (nintendo, not Retro specifically); then Retro were 'suppose' to be at E3 according to some but had to pull out 'supposedly'.

Now theres the two team theory; with Retro maybe working on WiiU and 3DS projects, sort of a Western HQ for Nintendo and becoming increasingly important to Ninty.

Now it'll be shown at an E3 without a big press conference fanfare and lost amongst the frightful graphic pushing power of PS4 and Durango. GOOD JORB IWATS.
 
Miyamoto/Aonuma never ever would allow Zelda developed by an external team EVER.

Even Metroid Prime games were spin-offs, not main entries.

I love Retro and I also love Mario Kart. So if this time they have complete control over MK8, I would not mind. I'm sure Retro is big enough to house two teams. So their other team is probably working over a "new" property or trying to resurrect another Nintendo IP or something.
 
I think it will be Wii Play U. They will bundle it with the Gamepads when they are ready to sell them. Amazing 6 Mini Games. Mindblowing Mii Visuals ala Mii-Creator. Local Multiplayer that supports up to 2 Gamepads (at 30fps). Total Gameplay time of 20 minutes guarantees a high replay value. They will also include "Nintendo Seal of Quality" Stickers in the Manual. You can put them on broken objects in your house or stick them on your butt.

Would love an updated StarTropics. A console version of Kid Icarus would also be amazing. Though I honestly I don't care who works on either of those titles. Funny enough, those were two of my favorite NES titles as a child and my Father still has both of the games (including Guides and original box).

Unfortunately, I doubt it's either of those two titles. My guess is a new IP, Metroid, Mario Kart, or a crossover. Hopefully it's amazing and mindblowing regardless of what it is.

This is all possible, but we still have that quote from the Retro employee, don't we? The one where he said "we're working on something everyone wants us to work on".

Is that REALLY Mario Kart?

Yeah, it seems like she has a few sources, but some of them are either full of shit or she extrapolates what they say behind the limits of credulity.
