Sony never packed in a game before that iirc. Nintendo has quite a few times before. No, I'm not saying they are not going to sell because of this nor that you have to buy anything. We're talking about Nintendo being expensive and I was just replying to somebody who had a poor excuse that "it cost money to make they have to make profit" for charging for that crap. I merely mentioned that despite PS5 selling at a loss they gave a free higher budget game that introduced you to the hardware. Nintendo on the other hand have high profits and still nickle and dime with a $10 welcome tour that looks like a free web game.
But is anybody really asking for smaller systems? Let alone being forced to purchase portability? If Nintendo made a screenless/TV only switch slab for at least half the price, I would praise them, but no.Do people really not understand that making things smaller cost more?
It only appears like I'm cherrypicking "data" because you think I'm doing some kind of Sony Vs Nintendo competition when all I'm doing is making a comment that there is absolutely no reason for that welcome tour to cost $10. ergo it's expensive for what it is. A glorified manual for a $450 system that could have easily been preloaded on it.Sony never packed in a game before that iirc. Nintendo has quite a few times before.
Sony makes good money in its business. Nintendo makes more some years. Other years it does not.
I think you're cherry picking your data.
And I don't see how Nintendo would be less expensive to you if they included the game you didn't buy because you say or imply it is terrible and worth nothing.
IF you're only talking about Welcome Tour then that's the definition of cherry picking. It only appears like I'm cherrypicking "data" because you think I'm doing some kind of Sony Vs Nintendo competition when all I'm doing is making a comment that there is absolutely no reason for that welcome tour to cost $10. ergo it's expensive for what it is. I'm only talking about Welcome Tour because that was the subject I replied to. How are you then jumping into the convo to suggest I'm cherrypicking it when I didn't even pick it?IF you're only talking about Welcome Tour then that's the definition of cherry picking.![]()
And you don't know what Welcome Tour is because you haven't played it.
Imagine giving your opinion of a game you haven't played to the guy who actually bought the game and played half of it so far. Comedy gold.
And I don't think Nintendo is expensive because you don't think Welcome Tour is worth buying. Seems rather arbitrary.
Ok you're just shitting on a cheap game you haven't played. Got it.I'm only talking about Welcome Tour because that was the subject I replied to. How are you then jumping into the convo to suggest I'm cherrypicking it when I didn't even pick it?
If you're talking about the general perception that Nintendo is expensive nobody is basing that on Welcome tour in a vacuum. I don't need to remind you about $80 games, games that barely go on sale, the crazy profit margins on Switch seven years later, the extortionate prices they were charging for cardboard...
The only reason I was talking about Welcome Tour was because the subject was already about Welcome Tour when I decided to give my input on that post specifically.
If you want to shit on Fable or any other game and call it expensive by all means do. There is another thread where people are laughing at The Outer Worlds 2 and calling the $80 price tag stupid and expensive already. They don't need to play it to feel this way just as I don't need to play Welcome Tour to see what the videogame, and I use that term loosely, is like (there is an obvious video I've posted here). I will say and finish up on this though. When somebody charges much more than something costs it's usually the definition of "expensive" to most people. Who do you think has the highest profit margins on their products?Ok you're just shitting on a cheap game you haven't played. Got it.
I think FAble is going to be dogshit on Xbox. So I guess I am not immune. But I'm not going to use it to argue Xbox is expensive. EVen though I think dogshit for $70+ is expensive. BEcause I haven't played the game.
MOre expensive games is the norm. Sony/MSFT raised their game prices when their consoles came out. Nintendo 5 years later raised theirs when S2 came out. When the PS6 and nextbox come out, it's a good bet you will see further game price increases on their part if they don't do it before that.
PS5 is still $500 after 5 years. XSX just got a price bump to $600 after 5 years. Like Switch this isn't the usual. IT's inflation. Also tariff related.
The cardboard stuff ...I mean if you're just going to view Labo, another game you haven't played btw, superficially as cardboard and you aren't 8 years old then what you end up with is called a hot take. Easily dismissed.
This is me as well. Ditch the portability, the screen, the controller that has mouse functionality, and you could easily sell a console for a minimum of $150 less. That would put it right in line with the cost of the Switch. Make it all digital for even more savings. But is anybody really asking for smaller systems? I got a switch 2 but I'll never use it in handheld mode. I passed on a switch 1 for the same reason but now the game catalog is looking pretty good and with better playing conditions (60FPS ...)This is me as well. Right now the only way I see myself getting a Switch 2 in the near future is if I trade in my switch and all the games I have. Even then I'd still likely be paying more than the Switch cost at release, which is depressing.I got a switch 2 but I'll never use it in handheld mode. Though 70€+20€(DLC) on Zelda BoTW, a 8 old year game, damn
Add the 35€ /y subscription pack to be allowed to play emulated games, it does feel a bit like a ripoff to be honest.
Still happy overall as the user experience is very good, and it's a very nice complement to a gaming PC, which are getting much more expensive than consoles comparatively. Let's be real here : software prices no longer compensate the absurd PC hardware prices, unless you buy a shit ton of games you'll never play anyway.
But the thing is you do have to play a game to have an informed opinion. Otherwise you're just talking out of your ass.If you want to shit on Fable or any other game and call it expensive by all means do.
