it's a THREAD - there's hundreds of comments in it.... most of them pointing in the same direction as EDGE and Digital Foundry have - that Durango is 'somewhat' less powerful than PS4.

I'm not saying I agree, or even that I fully believe it, but when a lot of technically minded people say something points in a certain direction you'd have to be an idiot to ignore it just because you want something else to happen to suit your view of the world.
Wait i thought you're talking about Xbox division,if you talking about console power i don't really care, even wii give me some fun,and i will buy WiiU because new Xeno

Just give me a game i want and i will buy the console

I wouldn't underestimate Knack, Killzone and inFamous.

With Killzone we haven't seen multiplayer yet.
With inFamous we haven't seen no gameplay, the series has so much potential, I loved I2 but it was lacking a lively city and good sound design which I am sure Second Son can improve.
Finally with Knack we barely know what that game is.

I can't pretend reading everything here (or on other forums), but I had to browse all recent topics to the end of page 3 to find a topic dedicated to either of those games, and it was called "Knack should not be counted out so easily" and has something like 150 posts. That looks like a very low level of hype.

You do know those games were revealed 2 1/2 months ago with barely any news about them since, right?

I'd say maybe that's down to knowing relatively little about them.

I'm aware of that, and it doesn't contradict my initial comment. We need something to get excited about, and with the few information we have, even the positive buzz around the PS4 gravitates around technical/abstract infos (RAM, teraflops and indie support) rather than games. It's all the more ironic when the Sony buzz is like "it's all about the games", and there are few things to discuss about them at the moment.

It wasn't meant to contradict. More to temper expectations, or explain the lack of info about games, a month or so in advance of E3. I honestly expect a lot more about games at E3. That's not crazy is it? Although I know some people like to set expectations low!

Cheers.

Just one thought.... the last time MS was underestimated at the start of a new generation they surprised everyone.

They may very well be having issues... but they aren't dumb. They have COD, Titan, PGR and the potential to tease Halo.... plus a bunch of stuff we don;t know about.

Regardless of anything else they will be able to put on a good show on the 21st.

Hopefully.

The real test will be the showfloor at E3, where both systems will be playable and people can draw real conclusions as to where both systems are at pre-launch.

I remain hopeful they will surprise us all...

Well, we need to have something to get excited about, and with the WiiU stalling and the mute MS, it only leaves the PS4. Actually it's rather "funny" that the main source of excitement revolves around Cerny and "8GB GDDR5". Not many "can't wait to play Killzone/Infamous/Knack".

People should temper their expectations until after E3. That goes for Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. The Xbox event is going to be more a teaser. I think it's kind of unfair to say that people aren't excited about the PS4 when we've received very limited information on the console and the titles. Infamous Second Son may not even be a launch title for all we know. People also tend to forget that Sony's tier A studios weren't even at the event. When Polyphony, Santa Monica, and Naughty Dog show up, and if hype isn't through the roof, then there would be an issue. So I'm waiting until after E3. Microsoft won't show all of their cards at this event just like Sony didn't. And Nintendo is going to have some surprises too.

Personally I think MS is seeing delays because their 1st party new IP's are geared at directly opposing PS IP (which is magnitudes better). MS have no answer to inFamous (open world), Last of Us (which is in a league of it's own) among others. If MS decided to do this and fill these genre gaps it would mean new IP's, new concept etc which we all know is a very lengthy process. This may be where the 'growing pains' rumour is coming from?

Launch will most likely be a handful of 1st party along with 3rd party exclusives and the usual multiplat games. The 2nd and 3rd years will be much better than the 1st I think.

So it's like every other console launch then....

Assassin's Creed 4
FIFA 14
Madden 25
Watch_Dogs
Battlefield
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Ryse?
Need for speed?

What launch games am I missing besides speculative MS stuff?

It's impressive how naturally he says that the Sony ip's are "magnitudes better", completely ignores Crackdown and praises a yet unreleased title as a game "which is in a league of it's own"...some months ago we had someone saying that TLOU was his GOTY already so I guess this one shouldn't surprise me that much.

Besides PES 2014 I can't think of anything else...it's weird that we won't have a fighting game in this launch.

Crackdown? That free game that game with halo 3 beta?

Infamous is a poor man's Crackdown.

No one has played Last Of Us. Or is the game automatically good because of 'teh grafiks'?

Stop perpetuating this myth. Microsoft has it's own IPs for every Sony one and has had so since launch.

Wait a minute... People actually want Microsoft to moneyhat big franchises? And you all consider yourself gamers?

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I want the New Xbox to perform equally strong as the PS4 worldwide (or vice versa). If that can be achieved with the help of moneyhatted 3rd-party exclusives due to the lack of 1st-party studio development, then so be it.

Crackdown is that good? (Haven't played it) Damn I better check it out at some point. Although my desire for current gen will be zero come 21st :(

Edit: Who cares about 3rd Party Exclusives, many are making it out to be 'cheating' an exclusive is an exclusive at the end of the day.

Grand Theft Auto meets the Matrix.

It was even made by the original creator of GTA.

its easily the most underrated game of this Gen.

Agreed; although I think the preference would certainly be for 1st party development to key exclusive content; the home console market needs to have good competition and if 3rd party outright or timed exclusives help that activity; I am ok with it.

Sadly not, but there will be a Kinect-enabled Geometry Wars TV show produced by MSNBC exclusively for Xbox Movie Store.

Except focus groups will say that they don;t know why the word geometry is being used... so they will consider Kinect Wars... but then someone at Microsoft will decide 'Wars' isn't family enough... so it will be marketed as Game Show Kinect.

It's automatically good because of Naughty Dog.

Even without their name attached, it's abundantly clear from the trailers that it will at the absolute minimum be a competent game.

I don't consider 3rd party exclusives cheating. However 3rd party exclusives won't win me over mainly because there is a huge chance that exclusive ends up only time exclusive or the sequel to that IP ends up multiplatform. Especially if PS4, Durango and PC are all x86 hardware. I expect Respawn IP to be timed exclusive (maybe by a year) if not the sequel would be multiplatform. Where as a game internally developed will always be fully exclusive an we can expect all future sequels to be exclusive.

That's a matter of opinion. I find the Uncharted series insanely overrated (Thank god I rented). Infamous>Uncharted
