Crackdown was so much fun. That game came out of nowhere for me. To bad the second game was such a letdown.
Crackdown? That free game that game with halo 3 beta?
I don't consider 3rd party exclusives cheating. However 3rd party exclusives won't win me over mainly because there is a huge chance that exclusive ends up only time exclusive or the sequel to that IP ends up multiplatform. Especially if PS4, Durango and PC are all x86 hardware. I expect Respawn IP to be timed exclusive (maybe by a year) if not the sequel would be multiplatform. Where as a game internally developed will always be fully exclusive an we can expect all future sequels to be exclusive.
That's fine, but I'm speaking in terms of critical consensus. Chances are it will get mostly 9's, and most people will really enjoy it.That's a matter of opinion. I find the Uncharted series insanely overrated (Thank god I rented). Infamous>Uncharted
Is this real life?
10+ multiplats, Knack (Lol) and you saying that Halo is the only exclusive when MS has already confirmed that new IP's are on the way... At least wait until the 21st man.
Unfortunate that Crackdown 2 was a pile of crap.
I wonder if Sony is going to try and trump the Nextbox event by announcing another PS4 event prior the 21st. There have been rumblings of "multiple PS4 reveal events" The more press conferences (from both sides) the better IMO.
Infamous is a poor man's Crackdown.
No one has played Last Of Us. Or is the game automatically good because of 'teh grafiks'?
Stop perpetuating this myth. Microsoft has it's own IPs for every Sony one and has had so since launch.
Don't knock it because it isn't shootbang.

Eh, I think both the 21 event, and E3 conference will be pretty core centric since we're the ones who are going to mostly be buying Durango for the first couple of years. It won't take much to derail Nextbox announcement if MS intends to cater to the casuals on May 21st.

Oh but it gave us this gem.

The first Crackdown ranks up there with my favorite games this gen.
I'm not fully up to speed on this thread. It won't take much to derail Nextbox announcement if MS intends to cater to the casuals on May 21st.

I can't wait for "Announce a console without actually ____? That's one approach" posts.

Is that the general consensus... that the 21st event will be more about casual entertainment than blockbuster games?

I'm sure they'll want to cater to everyone. So we'll see core games, we'll see casual games. And we'll see games in between. Certain GAFers will only highlight the casual games shown to prove an argument. Other GAFers will only highlight the core games to prove a different argument. And so the Internet goes on.
Meanwhile the general public will remain ignorant and it'll be up to the marketing gurus to try and change this late in the year. Still, at least the Xbox 360 dashboard allows lots of advertising space for that.
I think most people aren't expecting much since it's only a one-hour event.
And we already know there will be CoD: Ghosts, and it probably will be 10 minutes or so, so that would leave 20 minutes for other stuff, so probably another 2 games, plus some global support mentions. If I had to gamble the games would be Ryse and a new Rare property.

Microsoft is probably going to have CoD Ghosts timed exclusives, an exclusive Epic shooter, Battlefield 4, and Respawn games exclusive coming out on Nextbox near launch.
The "lol casual games" argument is getting tiresome.
I want to see MGS projects.

I'm a lot more interested in Microsoft Studios own projects than 3rd party.

It is insane to expect MS to go all out on the first reveal software-wise. This event will be about ecosystem and hardware/peripherals. They'll have CoD and announce the continuation of the DLC exclusivity contract, one new IP that's most likely Kinect/family friendly and Forza Next for some eye candy.
They'll use E3, GamesCom direct events to announce their 1st party games at a pace to keep up interest.
The presser lasting 1 hour, is it a rumor or a direct statement by Microsoft?
The countdown is on: Microsoft is making a next-generation Xbox and youll be able to see the first details LIVE right here on Tuesday, May 21. The 60 minute announcement event will air live right here on GameTrailers.com, Xbox Live and exclusively on Spike TV in the US and Canada.

Thanks to both.
Quite short, so I guess the focus will be on hardware-software, with three or four games on stage.
Kinect 2.0
A different department within Xbox handles Kinect hardware and software. The focus was more on developing and networking both consoles with Kinect more of an after thought at that point, considering dealing with it would be less of an issue even with hardware changes to the main console hardware. Kinect isnt the primary focus.
The development kits required several pieces of hardware as to combine all potential hardware which may or may not be required to work with each other, which also includes the potential for any or all devices to required a network connection, which is where most of the required rumors are coming from.
There is a thread on that already. So was this discussed at all?

I'm confused because it's from VGLeaks so it's supposed to be reliable, but also, it's not bad news about Xbox, which I'm pretty sure means it's definitely false.
I'm going to laugh my arse off if Kinect isn't mandatory as has been suggested by virtually every site, insider, etc.

I wonder if the CoD thing is a Bundle at launch
What are you going to do if it is mandatory?
Spike said it's 1hr commercial free.
