Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Thanks! I do love me some Vita, Ah tell you whut. Such a great successor to the psp, where my modded psp-1000 model gave me well over a thousand hours of enjoyment. I was very satisfied at launch with it. I couldnt be happier with it now. Plentifully rich with gaming possibilities.
As someone who never owned a psp, I love that side of the library as well. 3rd birthday rocks.

Hooray for Knytt Underground on the IGC! That game was a treat!

Does Wild Arms 1 run slow during battle with anyone else?
In some battles the fRAME RATE drops a lot but it isn't game breaking, usually this happens when enemies or characters attack.

...and who's Shahid?

Yeah, some battles get real heavy slowdown, I seem to have found it occurs more on the open field areas once you get all three characters

And Shahid is a Sony employee who runs dev relations mostly with indies signing titles to Vita.

And wooooo! Blazblue, the one fighter I can play because I can mash as Noel! Too bad it doesn't connect to the console version though, would love to use the Vita when playing against friends, though wasn't Blazblue Vita previously the largest game at like 3.3GB?

So is the tide starting to turn a little for the Vita?

Jeff Gertsmann from Giantbomb was incredibly down on the Vita at launch saying that he doesn't even know why it exists, but in their recent Bombcast he seemed quite upbeat about it saying that "they are starting to make a case for it..."

Exciting times ahead I think!

What took them so long. Hope the tide turns for more publishers and devs to take a chance on Vita games also.

we will have to see if a bunch of smaller quality releases (most of them indie games) can move vita units in order to get bigger releases on it.

Hopefully sony can announce minecraft is coming to it soon, I think the rumors were that the xbox exclusive rights were running out soon.

man.. if they redid Suikoden 3 in 32bit glory.. (like Suikoden I and II) and released it for the Vita.. Konami would have redeemed themselves (for me personally)

but I shall stop dreaming

I just hope they announce something for the Vita at E3
(multi-account support)

Gamestop leak?

Edit: Wait no, Blogcast. BlazBlue, Knytt Underground, and Pinball Arcade on the Vita side of things.

Wow, three games I don't have. Which is crazy because I have almost 60 Vita games, lol. That makes me happy.

All games I wanted but didn't want to pay for. Nice.

High five.

I think they just didn't give it enough chance because they couldn't get direct feed capture. Now Jeff seems pretty happy about it, though, which is nice.

Only one I don't have is BB and I couldn't care less about that. Let's hope they fix all the problems with TPA now that's it's going to be on a lot more vitas. Love the game but it's buggy as hell.

given i was never able to get into guilty gear I wasn't expecting much from blazeblue when I gave it a try. Then it turned out i really enjoyed it (on stylish setting, screw traditional :P) it should make for a nice little pick up and play thing from time to time as working my way underground while powering up is a fun thing to do while watching a baseball game or a boring movie.

At that $12.94 PS+ price Sly Cooper is tempting. How is it?

It's solid.
Two of five hubworlds have framerate issues and the camera can get annoying at times. Controls work most of the time except for third person shooting. Have a dislike for Sly's friends, but the Cooper anvestors played well.
Would recommend it for that price.

Penguin Party seems ok (seems like an actual high quality game unlike some of the other psm releases) and it's free (you can buy a monocle and top hat to tip the devs)

Man, the Japanese store still depresses me so much. No Guacamelee or other stuff like that, it's all anime, anime and more anime.

I'm sitting here in front of the Store for PS3 and on the Games 3 tabs, I see 6/9 anime entries, 8/12 anime entries and 9/12 anime entries (and I'm not even counting stuff like Gravity Daze because in-game it isn't so bad...).

Seriously, this is depressing. For someone with a JP account as his main one but not liking anime all that much, this sucks balls... and worse of all, a lot of the cool stuff from the EU and US stores never show up here. Ughh....

Well, the store IS catered towards Japanese tastes. Why not just switch to a US account?

I live in Japan and I only have Japanese bank accounts, so in order to do purchases in the US I would need to keep buying point cards online or whatever, and if there's some issue I wouldn't be able to call or get something resolved. I still buy lots of DLC for some games like LBP and whatnot on the US or EU stores, but still, quite a hassle :(

And I know the store is catered towards Japanese tastes, but I'm not alone and even a lot of my JP friends are always shaking their heads at this stuff... and it's not that they have A LOT of anime, which I'm ok with... it's that we never get most of the cool stuff in the US. Most recently Guacamelee, I asked the devs about a JP release and they said they didn't have any plans for now. Same for a lot of other stuff... it's sad :/

What Sony needs to do in the future, I feel, is a single global submission fir psn. Kind of like steam. This way, most games will be available everywhere, just subject to regional pricing. Regional submission is antiquated and completely unnecessary in an age of digital distribution.

I'm sure there are things they can do to make releases in multiple areas easier, ultimately there are tons of regional rights issues, marketing concerns, and individual countries laws that prevent this from happening in any large scale.

BlazBlu? Well, at least it isn't a Namco PSP fighting game, though I really would love a different genre at this point.

Final got my Animal Crossing playing cards delivered before my Nintendo Coins expired. Flipping around, spot Goose... :-) My favourite character, alongside Buck.

I'd love it if Sony branched out beyond their third person shooter comfort zone and supplied a game like this. Slap Toro on it.
