Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

I'm sure there are things they can do to make releases in multiple areas easier, ultimately there are tons of regional rights issues, marketing concerns, and individual countries laws that prevent this from happening in any large scale.
Doesn't stop steam, apple and Google play store. Single submission, and all they need to do is curate the games a little for specific regions.

Actually it does - both stores are full of games and apps that are only available in certain countries. And going back to the original comment, about the lack of western PSN games in Japan - I doubt a unified global submission would fix that. Most devs still wouldn't launch in Japan without a local publisher to handle translation and marketing, and to deal with any potential legal/ratings/rights/cultural issues that the dev might not be aware of.

Sony should have such an option - if you accept our terms we will be your publishers in Japan.

I'm not sure about the NPC part, but I believe that was the goal of R∞M.
That looks less like Animal Crossing more like an avatar chatroom. Even Home seems to have 'goals' and activities.

So just imagine AC with better online play and optional cash to bell conversions. 700yen to buy a basement and 100 to buy a One Piece outfit or whatever. It's a game that lends itself to F2P transactions quite well. Bundle it (in a world where Sony Japan made things, this is what Friend Network would've been).

But SCEJA doesn't make anything so I'm better off ending this pipedream right here. Can't have too many all at once!

Did you post proper impressions somewhere?

Not really lol. There's not a lot to say. You cultivate a field, plant crops in it, harvest it, store it, then sell it when market prices are high. Use your profits to buy more fields, more tractors and equipment to make more money and more profit to buy more fields/equipment ;)

Controls are fine, graphics are shit, music is annoying, and it's far more addictive than it has any right to be.

Carl (or anyone else), what do I do in Farming Simulator? I feel like I'm doing things wrong, haha.

Also this, it's REALLY shit at explaining what to do. I spent an hour trying to work it out >.<

Tap the icon on the top right, and tap hints - it gives you a few pointers. Harvest crops with the combine, drive your trailer up to the side of the harvester to empty it. Then dump the crops in the hole near the silos. When you want to sell it, drive under the silo to empty it and take it to one of the sell points (look on the map) - but check market prices first.

it sounds like it needs a thread

Fucking gamestop in Ireland. I traded in a few games for a pre-order for Soul Sacrifice, assuming the game'll launch for 40 maybe 50 euro max. Imagine my surprise when they were charging 60 euros for. That's ridiculous, considering Amazon has it full priced for 40.

Has anyone seen or heard of an issue with Virtue's Reward (or maybe any other game) where you go to load it, it does the first splash screen that happens when you first launch a game and then just goes to a black screen forever? I just deleted it and am redownloading it again to see if that fixes it, but guess I am worried that I will do that and for some reason it still won't run or it will run and then when I download my save from PSN, it will do the same thing. It's not like it even gets to a menu or anything. Just pretty much dies immediately and I can hit the Playstation buttonb and back out of it and close it, so not like it locks the system.

As someone who doesn't understand the appeal of Animal Crossing this is actually hard for me to imagine.

The appeal of Animal Crossing is how calm and relaxing it is (a virtual community with amazing dialogue!). But F2P games make their money off of packrats, fashionistas, collectors and completionists, which an Animal Crossing-type game can provide for easily (fossils, wallpaper/clothing/furniture designs, toys, etc.).

Heck, Guild Wars 2 makes money off of virtual fireworks.

This is what I've been wanting most on Vita, even just a Harvest Moon game or .. something. Anything. I love my sim games, and I really would kill for that type of experience on Vita. It really is a relaxing, fun experience and I'd love to have something like that, natively on the Vita. There are PSP and PS1 games like that but nothing really quite close.

My copy of Soul Sacrifice is shipping today from Amazon, £30 and also they mailed me a code for FIFA 13 as well so certainly worth picking up a 3 month plus extension £11.99 or the year £36.72 for getting that game for free :)

As a result I will be giving away my retail version to the first person to post a picture of this years PFA Premiership player of the year. (Spurs fan)

curse you - you got my mouth watering for a harvest moon on vita...

has there even been one on ps3?

Sort of - there's that Rune Factory game, Tides of Destiny (which I actually own) ....

It's worth giving a try IMO but overall it's a lackluster game in comparison to the other RF games, and nowhere near on the level of the HM games, mostly because the farming bits have been basically delegated to the monsters you tame (yes, the monsters do the farming), so it shifts the focus of the game to dungeon crawling.

ah right. RF. i've always wanted to play one. told myself i'd get that "sequel" to the wii one that came out on wii and ps3... forgot all about it.

hmmm

Well redownloading the game fixed my issue. I was able to pull my save down from PSN and the game still works. Weird thing to have happened.

This is gonna sound like a weird question, but I've been looking into that offer too - what is the expiry date on the code you get given?

I'd love a new Harvest moon for vita.

I would as well, I'd gobble it up in a heartbeat. The HM franchise is one of the few franchises that makes me buy Nintendo platforms now, it's a shame that they've basically abandoned their support of Sony devices :(

There is that World Neverland franchise on PSP, which looks AWESOME, but unfortunately it's so text heavy it'll probably never be localized.

Edit: I just realized there is no "dark skin" tone (or anything darker than a light tan) in the character creator... wow. LOL

I've never been able to go back to harvest moon after playing rune factory, it's rune factory or nothing for me... which I would love a rune factory game on the vita o.o;

This is your lucky day. One of the few japanese publishers that is supporting the Vita is Marvelous.

Rune Factory 4 Plus maybe?

How does it look? The thing is I really like the white vita...do any skins allow the white to show through in places?
I think it looks fine, but of course my skin is slightly off and it doesn't bother me.
at least with the persona 4 skin you still can see white around the dpad/buttons, around the analog sticks, around the start and slect buttons, where the speakers are, and around the very edge (the skin is just smaller than the vita which is how it ended up slightly off as my wife lined it up with the left side of the system)

not my picture but this is how mine looks

that could be fun, but i also could just live with the 3ds version.

Hmm when should I start joining MP games in SS? (In terms of SL)
Also we gonna arrange a EU group? Don't want to play with random as the Demo soured me badly.

(Won't be playing tonight by the by, will be able to play on Sat night)

That's like putting one of those leather car bras on a ferrari.

oh god. you hit the nail on the head, i know it's preference, but i just am OCD about keeping my gadgets pristine. i hate putting stickers on my computers etc and typically try to leave the initial plastic peel on my phones etc till my gf inevitably fight me to take it off.

on a related note - i've dropped my vita maybe twice? and i just noticed a few tiny tiny cracks on the rims of the PSHome buttn and the L stick.

NOT happy.

normally I am not a fan of putting stickers on my system, but well I wanted a screen protester and was to lazy to get another one so I just used the person skin lol

Unfortunate typo... or perhaps you've been playing too much Soul Sacrifice?

I'm really happy that BlazBlue will be coming to Plus as that game really deserves more attention in North America. (here it's always Capcom, Capcom, Capcom and Mortal Kombat, and sometimes Tekken, bleh).

With that said I'd really like Arc System Works to fix the godawful loading times. And that bug where the sound volume becomes wonky after you suspend the game and come back to it. But so far they've never released any patch for it, and it was a Vita launch title, grr...

Whenever, really. So far I've only dabbled in the MP a little bit, but it seems to work perfectly fine as a solo experience, so I wouldn't be too concerned about just trying to jump into a few games. I don't know if there's specifically an EU group but take a look at the Soul Sacrifice OT, there's a list of GAFers there with their regions included. I can add you, if you like. I should be around sometime this weekend.
