Oh Sean, why do you always have to die.

boromir was far more noble and smarter than eddard stark. he made a wrong move trying to take the ring but at least he showed other scenes of courage

if eddard was in this universe his dumb ass would give the ring to sauron since it's his rightful property.

Agreed, Eddard is much more nuanced than Boromir. The latter was corrupted by the Ring's power. Stark was just another highborn noble looking after his legacy, as honorable and just as he tried to be.

Stannis is the one character in the show I really couldn't give a fuck about. I never know what motivates* him since he barely ever speaks of anything.

*Other than to become king. Boooooring.

But without Stannis we wouldn't have the Onion Knight / replacement Jean Reno.

I feel the same way about Stannis. Not a fan at this point and I certainly don't want him on the throne with the Red woman at his side.

Stannis is an awful psycho.
No wonder he was disliked by everyone, he's a massive dick.

I always thought it was weird how is Renly (whatever his name was) didn't go ahead and support Stannis anyway, seeing as Stannis would die with no male heirs - turning Renly into king.

Instead we got shadow babies and death for all the remaining Baratehons.

Bran...was...crippled?
red lady had a shadow baby

eyepatch dude had been revived how may times?

people possessing animal?

magic everywhere in this bitch and brann can't get his legs back?

and and fuck jaime and his sad story, can't believe breanne is falling for hist shit, dude crippled brann after he caught him fucking his sister!

True. Onion knight needs to just kill Stannis and get it over with.

You know the anguish would be too great for GRR not to have him do it. He does love to torture his characters, that dirty oul' sadist.

And I do greatly dislike this new Flame God religion. I'm an old God man myself. Trees and shit.

The Flame God is actually real though.
Followers can give birth to assassins that can kill anyone, and resurrect multiple times.

How it's not more widespread boggles my mind.

I like Stannis, maybe more so in season 2. Cold badass.
He's kinda broken now though. Would like to see how he was before the influence of the red woman.

Fire witch showed him something in the flames that kept him going. I wonder if that's indeed foreshadowing that he will get a big role later on. At the moment he doesn't really have any "assets" that would matter in the big scheme of things. Doesn't even really have connections to the other characters, kinda like Daenerys' story.

I'm guessing you have to prove you're pretty devoted to the fire god to be granted magical healing abilities.

why didn't melisandra tell stannis about this whole coming back to life thing earlier

if stannis can never die

he truly is the rightful king

How do you know she didn't? She showed him lots of fire-visions.

And the coming back to life doesn't make you immortal. It just means you can be magically healed, but you come back a little less each time. Also, it can't bring back completely severed limbs, they make a point to say that.

Dragonstone is bleak and all, but I can't imagine Stannis letting cobwebs build up on the chandeliers.

He seems like the kind of guy who doesn't give a shit honestly. He just wants the throne so he can say it's his. He's not in it for the festivities, the fun etc.

I think he wanted the lands down south or something. Remember he said to Ser Davos that even after all he did for Robert, he chose Renly or something.

He almost died defending Storm's End(I think, remember his story about eating rats, and the horses), but Robert gave that to Renly afterwards.

Just rewatched the last episode to get ready for tomorrow. God damn that was a good episode. So fast-paced, jumped around a lot more than normal but every scene was engrossing.

Character acting quality has really flipped around for me, my favorite actors in previous seasons have been replaced by people I didn't like as much before.

Jamie and Jeoffry are probably my favorite now, and Littlefinger is a little more stiff than previous seasons.

edit: oh yeah and that guy who plays Jean Reno is awesome too.

I wonder why Stannis didn't move into Storms End after Renley died. Would be preferable to Dragonstone I'd imagine.

It would be too easy for the Tyrells to cut off any supply lines, thus recreating the situation he found himself in 17 years ago when they laid siege to the castle, and the Onion Knight delivered food to them before Ned Stark broke the siege. On Dragonstone he has his own castle, provisions, fleet, etc - and the only way for it to be assaulted is by sea.

I wonder if it's part of Joffrey's (he's a Baratheon too remember!) territory now, since the Tyrells have also joined him.

I'm just remembering about episode 9 being pushed back a week and dug through this thread to find the reason cause I couldn't remember and:
It says on Wiki it's scheduled to air June 2nd.
Yeah, Soderbergh's Liberace movie will be airing instead.
I think I read that the other day and dismissed it as a joke, and waited for someone to post the real reason but it didn't happen. Turns out it is the real reason. Wow, HBO, you couldn't have picked a different time slot? [very mild TV series spoilers]
Episode 9 is the most crucial episode of the season, just like the previous seasons really, and you delay it... -_-
