The girl at the end that was murdered by Joffrey was Ros, the girl who worked for Littlefinger, but betrayed him to Varys.

Okay, I originally thought it was Ros but I thought she looked strange there. Maybe it was just all the makeup. I stand corrected then.

Yet the show juxtaposed LF's calling those things illusions with Jon and Ygritte, who's loyalty, love, and willingness to sacrifice for each other is what gets to overcome the wall and climb to the top.

Those things are only illusions to a cynical man like LF because he can't personally experience it.

I took it more to mean that all of those other things can come and go, they are temporary and fleeting. The realm doesn't give to shits about whether or not you die. The gods only care if you are doing what they need (in this universe). And love seems so so temporary in this world. For someone like Littlefinger who has had that taken from him throughout his life I can see how he could feel that way. The only thing that is ever there, always there - is the ladder. And you either choose to try to climb it, or you get shat on by those who do.

Chaos is the ultimate opportunity for those who are opportunist because while many are paralyzed by it, opportunist embrace it as a way to grow in the power vacuum.

That is how LF means it, that all the other things are hindrances and that only the naked grab for power is real. But I thought the show ends with the Jon/Ygritte scene as an added commentary on LF cynicism, that some times you succeed the "climb" not through treachery and ruthlessness, but through trust and love.

I haven't really seen anyone discussing the ratings for this season, but they are through the roof. The last episodes was 5.35 million, over a million more viewers than the season 3 debut episode. It has overtaken True Blood as HBOs most popular show, and is only just short of TBs highest rated episode ever.

If it keeps up this rate of growth it might hit six million by the finale.

Great to hear, for many GoT is only reason why people are subbing to their HBO service.

Wow, Joffery.

Wow.

Anyone else expecting to see Margarey there with him after they they showed Ros?

I don't know why, but that scene made me a little sick.

Yeah this was the first episode of GoT that felt like legit filler material for the most part.

Nope, this episode is setting the stage for some pretty big developments. Some developments won't happen until much later, however. They use their time on this show well. The only thing that can really be considered filler is the whole "Pod has a big dick her-her" joke.

It was Littlefinger's ship. It had his sigil on its sail.

Thanks. It kinda confused me since it was in the middle of his speech. I hope its not the last we see of Lord Baelish and his cunning ways

I never knew this. I'd go insane if I had to wait that much and probably even more for the story to end.
And now I feel bad for all the book readers that have been waiting so long for Martin to finish his books. All those comments about him being lazy now make sense to me.

Have you played the Half life games? If yes, then you already know the feeling!

Is that speculation or are you in the wrong thread?

R'hollor? Thoros mentions it during his conversation with Mellisandre.

Yeah. I never did know how to pronounce the name out loud anyway hah lol

Yeah. Plus it doesn't help that like 200 of them got slaughtered by the white Walkers as well and so even Castle Black is probably understaffed.

And not necessarily like Everest. But since the first time I saw the intro, they showed the wall as this imposing thing, that no one could cross, separating westeros from the true north. So high up, you need that elevator, it's almost unclimbable and takes a few days and only the best climbers can do it. And they show Jon and Ygritte, who are like two teenagers and have never climbed it before, scale it within a day you know.

Just my own observation, I thought it'd be more imposing than it was made out be. Interesting that you say there is some magic that guards the wall. Probably true, otherwise how else could anyone build such a wall that never melts, stays strong etc.

Was a great scene though.

Yeah, I really liked it. Looked a fair sight better than a tv show has any right to, that's for sure. Anyway, not even the magic in The Wall could make Rosie Leslie have an ass :(

This episode had a good start but kinda went a bit flat at the end. I'm used to bombshell endings by now... people kissing? Meh.

yeah it did play out oddly against the frame of the rest of the season

plus who wants to watch Rose Leslie make out with anyone anyhow? *bleck*

I really don't understand the Jaime situation. Is Bolton sending Jaime back to Kings Landing to get Sansa returned?

Looks like this guy is trying to play both sides. Feel like he thinks Rob will lose so he is making a play to be in favor of the Lanisters.

So cruel, Theon's torturer using a horn to wake him up.

That made me laugh. This guy is a pro. Hopefully he doesn't give Joffrey lessons.

The funniest part was Briene in that pink dress. They are going to mine that visual gag for awhile.

The episode was ho-hum compared to everything before it but there was still a lot of great set ups and revelations.

In fact I'm beginning to wonder if the Tyrel's won't do something to the Lannisters to prevent both of their flowers from withering under the Lannister's pressure.

Thought this weeks episode was piss weak. Pales in comparison to last weeks episode.

yea it was pretty boring overall, very disappointed when it was over. i guess you have to slow down at some point and build up though. i came into the episode expecting some fallout from Rob and the Tyrion/Cersei forced marriages and those were barely touched on at all.

Last week was action, this week was story. Next week is back to action.

I completely disagree. Last week wasn't action at all. It was story, story that was interesting and moved the plot forward. Aryas bit, Stannis' kid, Jamies story, Robs dilemma, Tyrion and Cersei being forced to marry etc etc. are not action.

People are actively complaining about this episode because there wasn't enough action? The story is what makes the show great!

Loved Littlefinger's speech at the end, and as has been posted already its juxtaposition with Jon and Ygritte's climb of the Wall.

That was the ship she was going to get smuggled out on before she said no based on her little fantasy of getting married to Tyrell.

The girl at the end was the one was Tyrion was mistaken to want to marry if I remember correctly.

Can't wait to see her snap.

Was sad not to see Sansa's face when she was told of her new fate though.

I would buy a Game of Thrones DVD if they had extended scenes including stuff like this.

There are just certain moments that need to be seen.
