Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

I'm at a loss... I think most likely I will try to sap every ounce of value I can from the demo and then buy the full version when I can get it for 20 bucks or so. That should suit me well enough.

I say return it. Because you're ungrateful and don't deserve it!

Can't see Soul Sacrifice hitting $20 for a loooong time.

Quoting for a new page, I've left the stuff that I strongly agree with. I'll address the stuff as I go:

I've realized that ~70% of my Vita frustration right now is because of Capcom. The coke arcade whore in me would do anything for more good action titles beyond what we have access to already.

And where has Konami locked IGA away?

Bullet Heaven/Danmaku Shmups ☆☆☆☆
Where is CAVE? That Akai Katana thing turned out to be a unicorn, and their 360/XBLA/iOS support (or lack thereof overseas) shows no sign of Vita. You can have your Velocities, Sine Moras, Super Stardusts; just give me anything from CAVE or 8ing or some other developer who actually took the time to tune their shit properly. To tie it back to Capcom, Giga Wing, anyone? Mars Matrix? No?

Rhythm Games ★☆☆☆
There are literally only like two genuinely good ones on the system right now. The rest are merely passable (or worse), but the biggest tragedy is that it's slim pickings coming off the PSP which did an admirable job representing this genre. You could go to any dying arcade and still play more there than what the Vita has access to right now.

Arcade-Style Puzzle Games ☆☆☆☆
We don't even have a real Puyo Puyo game for goodness' sake. The Vita is a desert for flashy, loud, score-based tile-matching. So many PSN/XBLA releases that already exist could easily fill this void, including Puzzle Fighter.

Beat 'Em Ups ☆☆☆☆
Dragon's Crown will change this depending on how good it is, but why aren't the D&D games coming to Vita, too, Capcom? And, Treasure, will Guardian Heroes ever even come to PSN? Why are you guys letting indies screw up this genre you perfected so many years ago?

I'm getting tired of all this potential without actualization. Gurrrl, Monster Hunter is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think Koji-san is mostly just doing small stuff now, I think Konami is moving forward with the super lame westernized Castlevania games now.

I think bullet hell/shmups are severely under supported on the device, and it's a shame - they would be GORGEOUS on the screen.

It's also a shame that there hasn't been a new Patapon game, but I think DJMAX has a prime example of how AWESOME rhythm games can be on the device. I know that Lumines isn't a rhythm game, but hopefully we get more music based games at least? TxK is going to be amazing though, IMO.

Puzzle games, again would be amazing on the device. I think there's a decent amount of them currently but not much natively on the Vita. Does anyone know of some stuff coming that has possibly been overlooked?

This last one is one of the biggest tear jerkers for me, I absolutely LOVE Guardian Heroes and still own it for the Saturn, and to this day wish it would come to PSN. Sadly, I believe it was a Microsoft funded port/HD remaster, so it'll probably never come to the PSN. This is, unless Microsoft asked for timed exclusivity instead of outright exclusivity, which they have been doing a lot lately.

The vita really needs its next wave of first party games around now.

It reminds me of when the 3DS first came out. An initial wave of Nintendo games, then lack of games and poor sales. Nintendo overreacts and starts making a lot of 3DS games. The fruit of that has been seen this year.

Hopefully a similar thing has happened from Sony. The vita needs it's next wave of first party software. But as the PS4 is launch this year it asks the question if they have internally focused on the vita.

Puzzle quest with trophies and touchpad support would be glorious :(

I think its -way- more likely they cut their losses rather than something like that happening.

I hope that I'm wrong though. Either way we'll find out in the very near future.

Guys, want to ask something.

Say I add 20 bucks to my PSN account using Vita with memory card A. Say I replace that memory card with memory card B--memory card B will be automatically considered by PSN as my account's default memory card when I go to PSN and the funds I purchased with memory card A would still be there, correct?

Or am I mistaken in something? An answer would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

The funds would be independent of any memory card, funds are tied to your account. The Vita will just see memory cards as a storage device.

Btw hi Vitagaf. I bought one a few weeks ago and it's one of the better gaming purchases I've ever made.

Hmm, I ask because all the talk about MC being tied to your account of whatnot... Alright, thanks :)

Welcome. Vita is great. Enjoy.

So glad I saved two of the Forgotten Pacts in Soul Sacrifice, it's going to make 91-99 so much easier. Then plat is mine!

For someone relatively new to Sony platforms, Vita's library is daunting. I literally have too much to play just from PS+ games and a few PSN games.

Well after sending an email to Sony about never receiving my referral credit finally got a response.

Thanks Massa for reminding me about the whole thing. Think I will grab Atelier.

Well, I just bought Virtua Tennis 4 and I must say... the games is GREAT!!!

I'm playing the championship A LOT and it's very good if you like these games.

PD: I'm with all the Capcom haters and I urge you to do like me: DON'T BUY a game from them AGAIN. I won't...

Over on the their forums, XSEED Tom seem to think their full integration with Marvelous Japan means easier access to their parent's catalog... including Senran Kagura.

Did they name-drop Senran or just wishful thinking?
Aw, who am I kidding. It'd be digital-only anyways. I'd rather it not get localized at all in that case.

Another VT4 fan! Welcome to the ranks soldier. How are you enjoying the campaign?

Yeah its awesome. Looks incredible too.

As much as I love DOA on Vita, I dont think many other fighters can beat MK for SP content. DOA looks allot better if that matters to you, but in content MK wins easily

I've heard about how much SP content is in MK but how much of it is actual matches of pure fighting without silly things? Stuff like the challenge tower sounds interesting but I'm more looking for something that's just normal fighting, if that makes sense.

It depends on what your asking, but mortal kombat has a lengthy story that reimagines MK1,MK2, and MK3, it has the challange towers (2 versions), solid training modes, the krypt thats full of unlockables, a bunch of costumes to collect. There is just allot of content thats great for SP including your typical one vs one, aracde modes, etc.

The only other fighter that might come close is BlazBlue, but MK has more characters.

Well the story mode is all pure fights with the only gimmicks being that you sometimes have 1v2 fights. Also there's arcade ladders with every character having their own ending (motion comic stuff, not too elaborate but something at least).

Wait, what kind of rationale is that? You'd rather not have a game if it means digital only? :/

Playing through psp GTA/God of war games, makes me really wish I could map the 2nd stick to stuff or that they had vita games coming ugh.

The conundrum of "I don't want to buy the digital-only English version, but I can't import a physical copy knowing there's an English version". Like Dokuro and EDF2017 before it, it means instead of importing it, I'm never going to play it.

And because I'm EVIL! Mwuahaha.

If they can justify localizing it at full price $40, they can print physical copies. I don't see them doing a $20 digital localization ala Dokuro/Let's Fish/Corpse Party, but if they did, I'd bite my tongue and buy it.

I think Senran Kagura is a bit of a stretch, but I'd certainly buy it in a heart beat. Life and home town aside, it looked like an improvement over Dynasty Warriors Next.

Don't know how they'd get it by a rating board though. In a similar vein, kill me when the threads and articles about breasts pop up again.

Why is Senran so egregiously censored anyways? Censorship is one thing (although there is plenty of uncensored gaming nudity, see Heavy Rain, God of War, Grand Theft Auto), but it's -far- more obscuring than the clothing they were originally wearing..

Urban Trial Freestyle is a lot of fun, wish there was more to it in terms of clothes and even more tracks with out there designs, but it has decent value for whatever I bought it for, think it's the same price as I only got it the other day. Nice physics, leaderboards and ghost stuff. Addictive too. I'd buy tracks and stuff dlc packs for it. Glad it came out on Vita and I didn't pass on it. I noticed a lot of the people on my friendslist who played Wipeout also got it.

Apparently bra covered breasts and panty covered butts bursting out of clothing and jiggling about can make people feel extremely nervous. Who knew?!

Eh, Bubsy 3D is probably worse lol

I think the new Bend studio has worked on 4 games so far:

Syphon Filter Dark Mirror = Superb game, loved every minute of it
Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow = Superb but not as good as Dark Mirror
Resistance Retribution = missed it
Uncharted Golden Abyss = Good but not as great as the two Syphon Filter games

Sony Bends Resistance game is one of the best games in the series IMO. It's absolutely worth playing.

Resistance Retributiom was recently added to the Vita PSN store and has had a permanent price reduction, it's now $14.99. It will be my next PSP purchase.

Hmm... I should try the Suphin Filter games. I'd love to see Bend produce a full on Syphon Filter reboot for the Vita.

Dark Mirror was a really badass game. Trying to unlock everything is a pain in the fucking ass though, put so much time into it but I still couldn't do it :(

Neptune PP special edition boxart is on the website now.

Is Zombie Tycoon II any good? Haven't heard much about, shame there isn't a reward for getting all of the Spring Fever games this time around.
