Regarding these losers...it's one thing for a pair of people to be so fucking demented as to pull this off but 3 people? Brothers? Beyond the horror these poor girls had to endure, I wonder at the upbringing of these men...what the fuck kind of parents are responsible for their upbringing? If children are a reflection of their upbringing, what did their father teach them?

I usually don't care about the "why" in cases like these because frankly "stupid is as stupid does" but here, I'm really curious to know what drove these scumbags to commit such horrible crimes together.

Also, I don't like how people are trying to make this a "we're laughing at Charles Ramsey" thing or connecting it to race. Charles is just an interesting, unique guy. It doesn't matter his race. I mean, the "Dude, you *have* no Quran!" guy and the Kai the "Hatchet Hitchhiker" guy are white, and they got a lot of internet attention. I just think when someone comes on the news and says something different or amusing, it gets people's attention.

Dan LeBatard said it best...(paraphrasing) Charles Ramsey, in his 15 minutes, manages to simply be himself in the face of a media onslaught. He managed to find humor in a situation that doesn't have any and he was completely charming.

They may not have been involved with kidnaping and raping the girls, but no charges at all seems crazy to me since just knowing about them would make them accomplices. The girls may not have known who knew and who helped cover it up.

The police specifically said "no evidence" so unless this changes, these guys are off.
 
Right, it's not like they can't have charges filed against them later if the police find anything during the investigation. Sure, they could try running, but good luck with that.

They don't *have* to, but they're still 'persons of interest', I'm assuming. I'm not implying this is a bail/runner situation, but if they suddenly disappear, it will probably raise suspicion. My point is, they don't have evidence, but the brothers aren't in the clear.

Maybe I'm misremembering but didn't the girls say at one point there was a 4th girl but she disappeared?

Either that or they're counting the 6 year old daughter as well.

They already provided statements and based on their statements and ariel's it was concluded they had no involvement. Though they can still be charged.

I don't think they're completely innocent, that comment that one of them made during a site excavation just doesn't sit right saying "they won't find that girl here" how the hell does he know that unless he knew that she was at his brother's house.

That was my first thought too...but if so wouldn't there also be murder charges? Or where is the 4th girl? The little girl I would think would be a different charge...maybe false imprisonment or something? Not sure how kidnapping applies there. Not that I'm complaining...the more charges, the better. I just want to understand
 
Just watched the Cooper/Ramsey interview. Wow. Awesome stuff. Being genuine and real in front of TV America is an amazing thing to behold.

If someone asked me if a missing girl might be found in my brother's house, I'd say "they won't find that girl there" with no shadow of a doubt even if I hadn't visited him for years. I'm also sure you would say the same about your brother. This guy likely had no idea about the girl, and no reason to believe his brother would do something like this.

They might disappear but it might not be their own doing.
 
Interesting, watching CNN right now and they interviewed the Hispanic gentleman that Ramsey mentioned in his interview and his story was completely different than Ramsey's. When questioned about the rescue he said Charles didn't show up until the very end and that he was lying about most of his story. He also had someone who corroborated his story. I have a feeling this is going to get very interesting when all the facts come out about the rescue.

It wasn't at the brother's house it was when law enforcement was digging in some area that he made the comment they wouldn't find anything. This was years ago.

CLEVELAND -- With her captor standing nearby and threatening her life, Michelle Knight was forced to deliver the baby of Amanda Berry as Berry lay in a plastic baby pool to help contain "the mess," according to a police report obtained by Channel 3 News.

"Michelle stated that Ariel told her that if the baby died, that he'd kill her," the police report states.

The report then tells of the next few harrowing minutes as Knight fought for her own life and for the life of Berry's child, Jocelyn, who had stopped breathing during the birth.

Knight, the report said, put her mouth to the Jocelyn's mouth and "breathed for her" to keep them both alive.

The police report, provided to the Investigator Tom Meyer, provides the initial details given to police by Knight, Berry and Gina DeJesus of their decade of terror, from the point at which they became captives to the time they gained freedom.

Berry told police that Castro forgot to lock the "big inside door" of the home on Monday when he left the house to go to a nearby McDonald's, the report said.

Still, Berry was trapped because the storm door was locked and she could not open it. Berry was afraid to break open the storm door because "she thought Ariel (Castro) was testing her," the report said.

Instead, Berry tried to get the attention of neighbors to help her. Berry was eventually able to get out but was unsure of the details of her escape, she told police.

Once police arrived, they checked the basement and then walked to the second floor.

"As we neared the top of the steps, Officer Espada hollered out, 'Cleveland Police,' at which time ... Knight ran and threw herself into (Officer) Espada's arms," the officer writing the report noted. "We then asked if there was anyone else upstairs with her, when (DeJesus) came out of the bedroom. "

Espada then put Knight down and DeJesus jumped into the officer's arms.

The report also notes how Castro kept their presence in his house a secret for more than a decade.

Castro kept all three chained up in the basement but eventually letting "them free from the chains, to live upstairs on the second floor of Castro's Seymour Avenue home," the report states.

If they were allowed outside, it was only in the backyard and "they had to wear wigs and sunglasses and keep their heads down."

Castro also made sure that Jocelyn did not know the real names of Knight or DeJesus in case Jocelyn spoke their names in public when Castro took her out of the house.

While Berry gave birth to one child, now 6 years old, Knight was pregnant five times but forced to abort the baby, the report said.

Knight told police that Castro "starved her for at least two weeks, then he repeatedly punched her in the stomach until she miscarried."

DeJesus told police that she did not think she ever became pregnant during her captivity.

None of the women, nor the child, was allowed to see a doctor during their captivity, the report said.

The three women also told police how they were initially abducted.

Knight said she was in the area of West 106th Street and Lorain Avenue when Castro offered her a ride home in August 2002, the report said.

Instead, Castro took her to his house where he chained her up in the basement, the report said.

Public records show that the mother of two of Castro's children lived just up the street in the 2200 block of West 106th Street at the time.

Meanwhile, Berry was walking home in April, 2003 from Burger King on West 110th Street and Lorain Avenue when Castro offered her a ride home, the report said.

Castro told her that his son also worked at Burger King. DeJesus told police that Castro initially approached her with Castro's daughter, the report said. The two girls went to school together.

Castro later returned without his daughter and told DeJesus that he would give her a ride to his house so they could hang out, the report said.

Instead, like the other two girls, Castro drove DeJesus to his house.

That was in April 2004.

I don't think it really matters. People get excited and exaggerate all of the time (whether with honest or malicious intent—our memories are pretty shitty and if he's got any issues at all, whether substance abuse or mental, those can make it even worse). If we need to tear some people down let's try and direct that at charlatans like Sylvia Browne.

Hopefully. This is from the Ohio state code and it's just for aggrevated murder. It's not counting the lesser included offenses involving fetal homicide:

A) No person shall purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another's pregnancy.

(B) No person shall purposely cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another's pregnancy while committing or attempting to commit, or while fleeing immediately after committing or attempting to commit, kidnapping, rape, aggravated arson, arson, aggravated robbery, robbery, aggravated burglary, burglary, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, terrorism, or escape.

(C) No person shall purposely cause the death of another who is under thirteen years of age at the time of the commission of the offense.

(D) No person who is under detention as a result of having been found guilty of or having pleaded guilty to a felony or who breaks that detention shall purposely cause the death of another.

(E) No person shall purposely cause the death of a law enforcement officer whom the offender knows or has reasonable cause to know is a law enforcement officer when either of the following applies:

(1) The victim, at the time of the commission of the offense, is engaged in the victim's duties.

(2) It is the offender's specific purpose to kill a law enforcement officer.


(F) Whoever violates this section is guilty of aggravated murder, and shall be punished as provided in section 2929.02 of the Revised Code.

(G) As used in this section:

(1) "Detention" has the same meaning as in section 2921.01 of the Revised Code.

(2) "Law enforcement officer" has the same meaning as in section 2911.01 of the Revised Code.

On the news conference earlier this afternoon the police said this was the first time Castro forgot to lock one of the front doors.

They said Amanda was initially scared to open it because she thought he was testing her somehow.

And even after getting past that unlocked door, she still had to get help to kick through the front aluminum screen door.
