Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Oh wait. Power off? hmm, easy to check, sorry my vita isn't handy.

[I thought you meant put it on standby, which of course works when you resume, as long as there is battery anyway]

Yeah, I would be grateful if someone can check this for me. Due to my circumstances, most of the time I can only download chunks, not once at all.

I would love to know if Vita can do that, just like 3DS.

Finally, incredible game, even better than Wipeout HD and Pulse (XL still is the best). The last half of the multiplayer campaign was a chore to finish.

Kinda bitter that I couldn't take a picture the plat popping up. :(

Man, this thread has become way negative in the last few pages. Totobeni must approve.

Yeah it's toto's ghost haunting us. COME ON GUYS WE NEED TO CHEER EVERYONE UP IN HERE - What games are you guys playing? I have WAYYYY to many, literally dozens of games I haven't beaten yet. What're we supposed to do with soooo many games?!

I just can't stop playing Toukiden Demo :D

Never mind, I just tried it.

Apparently when you pause a download, then you turn off your Vita, then turning back on, the download will automatically resume if your Vita is connected to the Internet.

Well, I've been playing MGS: Peace Walker since it went on sale. That is, when my son isn't hogging my Vita to play Soul Snackrifice (as he calls it). :)

Playing SMonkeyB, finally got passed those initial advanced stages and also LBP again, community levels mostly and starting TWA. Finishing off Urban Trial Freestyle and Guacamelee objectives.

Can't wait to see the rideable pig in tearaway.

You're way too optimistic. Vita was cut from a similar cloth to the PS4 not PS3. Supposedly easy to develop for, a supposedly attractive price, and we've seen how well that worked. Sony's shut down internal studios that worked on Vita games in favour of expanding studios that won't even bother.

I suspect this E3 will have Sony show a montage of Vita games almost universally being of the indie variety, and an announcement of Bend's new game or some 6/10 Ubisoft spinoff and that'll be all for Vita. It'll get less and less of a focus in future industry tradeshows.

I meant about that - Vita games more closely resemble what we get on PS3 than what we will likely have on PS4. The leap is a lot bigger, we hear costs rising. It makes more sense for the PS vita to end up as a PS3 replacement then (lower game production costs and advertising that won't conflict as much with sales on, or of the ps4). Especially since it is portable - it covers Sony's back if mainstream start to care more about convenience than graphics (although not so much that they want to be limited to iOS, which is fair enough of a target, Sony are in the business of going for that extra bit)). PS3 will become as important as Vita for exclusives but also multiplatform titles, as PS3 becomes less and less appealing, and a portable ps3 becomes more so.

Studios may be shut now, even potential PS4 studios got shut right? (no wipeout), but new projects can still start down the line, especially when it makes more sense to do it later rather than earlier after they saw their initial sales weren't up to scratch.

I suspect that's how it will end up too at E3...hopefully some of the unannounced indies are really great... I wouldn't be shocked at Infamous or GoW 2014 announcements though.

I know I'm too optimistic here, but it seems like logical behavior to me now that I think about it, a few days ago I was really counting on more at E3 but it just might not be time yet. I don't buy the speculation from mostly suspect individuals about an imminent demise.

gad dammit, I was going to wait on Dragon's Crown (coz I'm broke), but that art book is making me reconsider...

problem is which version to buy.

I guess my posting in this thread kinda indicates which way I'm leaning

Congrats Shinriji! And haha I have no idea how they get a photo of it popping up, must be expecting it when they do.

You know it makes sense. You really want someone to see you playing Dragon's Crown at home? Play it in secret like a true perv.

I really think the gameplay will suit vita just fine, one of those times when I wouldn't have to really think about it. Even though the artwork is nice, there were inconsistencies in some the artwork detail, especially when stretched out on my laptop screen. Do it.

I'm considering buying the digital Vita version and the physical PS3 version... Probably won't though.

Recently getting back into Rayman Origins due to others talking about it, and im remembering how fantastic it is, if Legends is one of Takaos "6/10" Ubi games ill be thrilled personally. Also continuing to dig into SS, and mess around often with Jet Set Radio.

I cant wait for Terraria as that will give me tons to do until the wait for some of the bigger stuff, and hoping to here about what other indies Sony has gone after. there is quite allot on Vita that im excited to play, and then when the PS4 comes it will make a pretty great companion device for it.

bleh. I think Vita is the only console thus far that's making me buy games on release. love them so much.

Yep. Vita is the only machine that actually gets me to preorder them.

I think the soft cap of $40 + a machine that I know I'll keep playing for at least a couple of more years unlike current gen consoles.

Shahid Kamal Ahmad on Twitter:

He talked about games he signed: Thomas Was Alone, Hotline Miami, Rotating Octopus Character, Limbo, Luftrausers, Velocity Ultra, Terraria and Floating Cloud God Saves the HD Pilgrims.

BUT he added this: "Oh and the P game".

I asked about what "P" game and he told me: "the one that people will say to me “WTF?!” Or “COOL!”

He added: "And I’m hoping to get some more stuff signed before E3. Something for everyone".

I asked about E3 show, hoping Sony won't forget about Vita, and told me this: "I’m sure you will enjoy the show, nobody has forgotten about Vita, trust me".

Then he said: "Oh and there is an AMAZING big title coming to Vita. I can’t tell you anything about it, except that you are gonna be hooked for hours".

love Shahid, looking forward to seeing what it is. As for the P game......Im not sure what it could be. I would say Phantasy Star, but thats only because im not sure of any other Ps. The Big game could be anything, if its indie I would guess Minecraft , but impossible to know until they spill the beans.

Looking forward to E3.

Monster Hunter isn't the only piece of the puzzle missing. There's a giant elephant in the room that Sony happens to own 10% of.

Gran Turismo, and God of War. Of course the effectiveness of those franchises will likely be dampened since I imagine we'll see PS4 counterparts before PSV. Any other money should be spent securing major third party support.

The truth is, none of them are huge system sellers on portable. They did pretty well but not remotely as well as the console games. If you think they shouldn't be putting their IPs on the Vita, ones that many Playstation fans love regardless of how well they sell, then I don't know what to tell you. I definitely didn't buy the Vita mostly for the third party support. O bought it because I love Sony's IPs. I need more of those. Even the ones that don't sell as well. Tearaway and Killzone aren't "system sellers" but I'm sure as heck glad that Sony studios aren't run by someone like you that don't see the worthiness of a good game, even if it may not always sell incredibly well.

That P game is that pee game, right? The restroom one?

No. In fact, he talked about Mayhem game later on Twitter:

"And lots, lots more. I haven’t even mentioned Men’s Room Mayhem, which is riotous good fun on a Vita (and signed in <45s)"

Oh... and he said this: "Hey all you lovely people that added me on their PSN lists, thanks, that was amazing. If anyone is missing, feel free to add me: Muslim".

And: "And you are all gonna kick my ass now that I’m on your PSN, because I’m not that good at playing games. Better at signing them. Hehehe"

I picked up P4G again about a week ago. Just finished playing through August and I'm now in
Naoto's[/dungeon]. So glad I went back to this game as I'm completely in-love with every aspect of it.

You're right... mmm... searching for "P" indie games... XD

it could be a new indie IP for all we know....I would love for a Puzzle Quest game, or a Pixel Junk game on Vita. I guess wether people like it or not there will be game annoncements at E3. As long as they look fun/interesting then ill be a happy camper.

Puzzle & Dragons would be an SCEJ thing, and 3DS is already getting a version.
Who knows, maybe he had a better rapport with Gung ho America than SCEJA has had with... anyone in Japan. Game being on the 3DS doesn't matter.

I remember Shahid teasing a 'P' game a while ago. We threw around some ideas but I don't think anything we came up with would make people say 'WTF!?' etc., so maybe it's a new game and not a port?

EDIT: Btw, UK/Euro VitaGAF, Zavvi are taking pre-orders for Tearaway for just £20.

The BIG title will only keep me hooked for hours? Shouldn't it have been quantified with tens or hundreds? Hooked for hours sounds like a throwaway indie game.

Whats the general consensus on Atelier Totori Vita? Its hard to find good reviews about this game. Ive heard its like Persona 4 since it has time management but its a bit grindy...?

I've played 30 minutes of it so far.

It looks great.
Dual audio is nice.
There's annoying loading pauses occasionally when exiting or switching UI screens.
Trying to hit stuff in the world for attack advantage feels messy.

4/5

-Bikini DLC is gone, same price as launch.
-Digital Only. No resale value, no collector's value, no true ownership.
-PS3 Version is <$20.

1/5.

Testing out my theory in the media create thread, wish me luck ;)

Not asking you, Takao :P

Although I thought about it even more, so let me know. Basically Vita is going to be the only way for mid-tier publishers to survive with (non-kid games) once next-gen dominates.
