Somehow despite all the negative rumors and GAF just trying their dammest to undermine this reveal. I'm hyped as fuck.

Bring the shit Microsoft.

I'm hyped but keeping it realistic in that this reveal will have info and some games, but the real shit will be a few weeks later in L.A. :D

Will there be a spoiler-free thread for this as we usually have for E3 press conferences?
Unfortunately, I can not watch this live, but I would still like to watch it afterwards without being spoiled before.

Mobile editions of AAA titles dilute the brand and add risk to the franchise future

That's exactly the wrong thinking for helping gaming proliferate on Windows Phone. WP gamers want actual Xbox/Microsoft franchises to play on the go, not just physics puzzle games. Also, the Batman: Arkham, Borderlands, and Call of Duty series all seem to be doing just fine despite having decent-ish mobile versions.

Original Xbox games I want a sequel:

Your list is incomplete without:

I had so much fun playing midtown madness 3, UK people were always on. I felt it was amazing I was playing and talking to people across the ocean.

Midtown Madness 4 and Rallisport Challenge 3 by not DICE doesn't seem so awesome. 1080p upcaled versions of the classics along with JSRF getting the same treatment would be awesome.

Games like MM3 and the others he listed were why my PS2 ended up disconnected. Such a great slate of games back then, and the online portions were just amazing at the time.

:) I originally, for just a moment, took that to mean PANZER DRAGOON 2 RPG. Not sure why.

Well the guy behind Crimson Dragon expressed interest in making a spiritual successor to PD Saga in the form of CD2. Now all they need to do is get out the first one...

I'm hyped as a mofo for this event. I'm working nights at the time of the reveal but you can guarantee I'm gonna be waking my ass up for this.
I'm off but on call so it's best of both worlds for me. It's immediately after the long weekend here as well so most people would still be off and hope I dont get called :D

Is it weird that I liked the Xbox more than my PS2 even though I never had it hooked up with an online connection? Stuff like KOTOR, Halo: CE, KOTOR II, Jade Empire, Splinter Cell and Fable is why I enjoyed it way more than the PS2 or even Gamecube (would probably be my #2 for that generation).

Not unusual. For it's last two years it was simply the best console. You missed out on a lot of fun by not having it connected online though.

Its how I felt too. I loved my PS2 and Gamecube, but those games...... Halo 1 & 2, Fable, KOTOR, KOTOR 2, Blinx Dead or Alive 3, ect.

One of the only Xbox games I ever played online (at a buddy's house) was Return to Castle Wolfenstein and it was an absolute blast. I wish I could have played that, Halo 2 and a lot of other games in their prime.

Already have the day off booked in for the 22nd (AU time).

can't be fucked getting up 3am, then going to work a few hours later.

fuck that.

Posted? Not even sure if this is the right thread but:

GameHorizon Roundtable Sammer Baroova (GameStick), Mark Rein (Epic Games) and Andrew Oliver (Blitz Games Studios) answering a whole load of questions about next gen, oculus rift as a potential platform, etc.

Of note, mostly from Mark Rein:
- Sony and MS didn't go for 5 year cycle because the increase in specs wouldn't be significant enough (people wouldn't be satisfied with 4x the RAM instead of 16x), they were waiting for something significant instead of going for the tablet revision cycle which he believes doesn't work with these devices
- Talks the media hub approach, says consoles are already good at that, they're just going to make it easier next gen, interfaces and services are where there will be improvements, and games benefit too
- Consoles can learn from Google/Apple by making gaming more convenient
- Walled garden experiences and business models are where current consoles suffered, Mark Rein says that both Sony and Microsoft's next gen consoles are heavily embracing free to play, "I'm telling you what they're telling developers"

As for the walled-garden part, Mario from Pikpok indicated months ago that developers he spoke to gave the impression that the walls in the walled-gardens of Sony and Microsoft are still too high.

My brah, how have you been?

Same shit, different dollar. 9 to 5 and all that jazz. I must admit it makes the days fly by. The 21st doesn't seem so far now and thank goodness because the last hand will be played and hopefully we can move on to the games. I saw your thread about the "App Difference" but I didn't have much to add. I suppose that's why I don't work for Microsoft, lol. I suppose we'll see. Outside of that how have you been?

Additionally:
- Some guy (who Sameer refers to as "the Xbox guy," I assume he works for MS) asks about how low-end android devices will become hypercompetitive on the market in terms of price and commodity. He gives an answer, and then Andrew asks him back, Are you concerned at MS that all these low-end consoles will flood the market? And the MS guy says he can't say anything until May 21. Dude answered pretty seriously for a half joke question.
- Mark Rein muses selling hardware with a subscription model as what he may be talking about
- Xbox guy then comments: "We've always been focused on premium experiences, and an area where we will continue to focus. We think that Xbox is a premium brand, and we will continue to deliver services that people will pay for and perceive to have premium value."

Still watching, I'll post if there's anything else interesting.

The entire exchange is just over 21 mins in.

I just heard one of the guys say that he thinks the Vita will continue to sell well for a few more years. Wuhhhhh? It has to sell well first before it can continue to sell well.

steam box.

pretty sure valve would want it to launch along side its hardware it's developing.

not to say it won't come out on next gen consoles, but just i'm sure valve wants first dibs.

The Steam box isn't even a thing yet as far as we know, and the past games launched simultaneously if I remember correctly.

I think it being a new IP is more likely though.

Fuck...A Midtown Madness with 16-24 players on-line at the same time in a massive city. Use up all that RAM!!! Would love it!

Haha I clicked on this vid, completely randomly skipped the slider bar to 26mins and change. Very first thing I hear is moderator say something like "what do you think about the Wii U?" Mark Rein responds "I'm staying out of this one". Everybody laughs.

LOL, what a gold moment to randomly skip too.

You can expect some very high walled gardens on consoles, App stores and games are really going to be regulated for quality in my opinion.

These guys saying that if Apple added a controller and let you play iOS games with a controller it would kill consoles are insane. Those games are quick and fun at times, but they are not replacements by any means for real, substantial games.

Yep it's community driven and wouldn't take away from gaming on a console.

Midtown Madness 4:
* 64 Players
* 300+ Cars, Trucks and Buses
* London and Dubai.

I had no idea valve confirmed they were making an official one. I have no idea how the hell I could miss something like that.

Step 1: Build a gaming computer with Steam.
Step 2: Hook it up to TV.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!

Seriously don't waste your time with the Steambox it's literally just a Linuxbox running Steam in big picture mode...

I'm on the fence about that, personally. While it's true that handhelds are still enormously popular, it's also true that people are gaming on their smart phones more than ever. So would a gaming controlled Apple TV kill console sales? No. But would it eat into sales? I think so, definitely.

Bring the shit Microsoft.

I agree....a lot of negativity in this thread, especially by supporters of the other platform. Never understood why they come into a MS thread to shit all over it.

I am looking forward to both consoles and am getting both.

Mark Rein:
- One of the console manufacturers told me that their research showed people only buy a new TV every 8 years, and they were very reluctant to plug things in and out of their TV, so you had to have a really good reason to plug something out and slot something new in.

The rest of the video is very, very interesting too. Rein thinks an explosion of PC gaming will occur with stuff like Surface 2.0 and 3.0 that become better devices, but there's more context to that comment that I'm too lazy to type up. Also they dispel ideas that different types of games will cannibalize others, possibly the death of consoles, etc. Also Rein, Sameer and Andrew argue over even if an iPad is capable of a Watch_Dogs game, will someone put the $50mill capital into actually making that game or not. Mark Rein also thinks a PS4S and stuff could work, muses new business model.

Not much. Back home now from the days of living in a hotel :) hence my time on GAF is taken a (huge) hit as well.

Yeah looking forward to the 21st as well. Hopefully it's a good show. The news from then on till after the E3 should make GAF more livelier.

Nirolak posted a thread on this.

Hype am rising.

The house of halo was built on hardcore gamers.

they won't let us down.

also the stakes are massive with them going head to head... They will come out dual wielding

I think I just came.

I think he's onto something. I was dead-set on getting PS4 and Xbox at launch, but now I've backed off that after using Windows 8 on a touch screen laptop. Now I want a gaming laptop with Win 8 (Samsung Series 7 Chronos) and one new console. Just waiting for Haswell upgrades.
