Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Definitely prefer the EU Jak HD boxart - just feels more colourful and alive, matches the game more.

Yeah that EU one is nice. Definitely a purchase for me! (Digital though)

Top of the page! Buy Guacamelee, Nunnageddon, Nun Attack, Farming Simulator, and everything else.

I wish Vita had an app to track gaming time like the 3DS does... would like to see the gaming time I have in Persona 4 Golden compared to other titles like Dynasty Warriors Next and Gravity Rush.

seems like I missed out quite a bit.

guess those HD Collections would not be Cross-Buy right? :/

hmm for some reason, I'm not getting into Persona 4 Golden
just not feeling it yet

Eh. I actually thought of this yesterday when I wanted to check how much time I spent with Liberation Maiden on my 3DS. That diary is really a nice feature, probably the only thing I like about that sorry piece of hand/eye pain.

We don't need a separate app. It should be incorporated into the Live Area of a game.

Game takes 3.5 hours to get interesting and open up! After that its 70 hours of pure awesomeness.

A separate app would be neater, the one on 3DS makes charts and stuff like that. It's very limited but it's a nice feature to be honest. But a timer on the Live Area would be better than nothing I guess. Luckily many games show an hours counter in the save file.

Has anyone else seen Ratchet&Clank: Q-Force on the Vitastore frontpage lately?
IIRC I saw it a few days ago. On the front page were some games are featured, I didn't realise it and entered the store and when I got back to the featurepage it was gone.

I first thought my mind tricked me but apparently there is another gaffer who saw it, too.
Yeah, I saw it a couple of weeks ago along with a price.
I still think it's a sign that the Vita version will be coming soon, especially given that it was mentioned we'd get Ratchet Gladiator and Q-Force Vita news soon.

Probably not :(
Good thing Sony has priced the Jak and Daxter Vita Collection low enough to make it easy to double dip.
That makes two of us. Aksys hasn't said anything yet so I don't think they'll be publishing it if it ever comes.
You can add a third to that. I really want Muramasa Rebirth, (especially seeing as how I missed out on getting the original on Wii) but I can't go importing a copy from the US with a bunch of new content being DLC.

Hopefully some news on a PAL version pops up soon.

But then it would just confuse people. Haven't you heard? Apps are confusing.

:( I actually really enjoyed it. One of the best looking games on vita. Love the boss battles and the time manipulation mechanic. The story is kind of obtuse, though. And I guess if schumps are something you're really into, it may leave something to be desired. With the way you guys are carrying on, though, I would have thought you were talking about soul sacrifice...

15hrs into SS, game could be improved but it's one of the best games I've played in Vita. I definitely like it better than say, Uncharted GA.
I stayed up like two hours just reading in some of the lore and it is fantastic.

Ack these different shield colors protecting some enemies in Guacamelee! are such a pain in the ass. It's like some of the enemies in DmC too... I just want to use every move I can to make to combat satisfying please dont tell me what kind of move I should be using. And one of the bosses is all about the damn colors.

I don't understand why this bothers people so much.

In every decent brawler, there's generally a move that is best to use on a certain enemy type. Guaca just makes it into part of the strategy.

After you do the move, the shield breaks, and you can totally combo the enemey as you want. It's simply a "mash attack to win!" deterrent, nothing more.

The shield colors coincide with the color of the moves special effects too. It's a pretty intuitive thing once you get used to it, and with all the roll and jump cancels in Guaca, the only time it should REALLY be an issue, if if one starts to hammer away at moves, rather than setting up the right moves for more complex, less mashy situations.

this last life of pixel level is killing me

Yeah I understand that, not that big of a deal bit gets a bit tiresome later on when there are shielded enemies and you also have to keep pressing the trigger to alter dimensions.

I am now in the forth World in Nun Attack. Will play every now and then since if you marathon it you may get pretty bored.

The game is okay for what you pay but it can get quite repetitive in my opinion. Touch screen only it's not so bad if you get a little practice too.

Got my 4 Vita games: UMVC3, SFxTK, Persona 4 Golden and NFS Most Wanted.

Enjoying the hell out of UMVC3. Amazing game and a great port to boot. SFxTK not so much, even the 2013 version sucks. And there is this microstuttering that is bugging the hell out of me, it is normal? (Cart version)

Did you have to do any grinding to get past some levels?

Just had a lady trade in her Vita and games in complete disgust. So upset of the "lack of games", I tried explaining to her about PS+ and the selection of PSN games- she wasn't having it. Smh

To be fair Sony does a pretty lousy job advertising PS+ and digital games on the Vita in general to begin with.

It can be pretty daunting, but man is it great when it works right. I've had quite a lot of fun kicking enemies from on dimension towards enemies in the next, and RIGHT before they get hit, switching them us, so that they collide. Or using the shockwaves from one dimension's body drop to quick-kill enemies in another.

The shields and dimensions did throw me off when I first saw them, but now, I just think of it as color-coded hit armor, and it's actualy pretty fun in co-op. I also like how, generally speaking, after a color-war, they throw some popcorn enemies at you, so you can release the stress by beating some weaklings.

Not really fellow GAFfer. So far I did some levels by completing all there is to do while on others I skip those destructible portals.

I did died some times on the first Boss but that was because I was still getting using to using each Nun's powers. The best advice is to not keep them too much closer to each other. For the first Boss I strong recommend using the Nun that can Heal.

Still need to start and finish the 4th World but will do it without rushing it.

That damn Guacamelee glitches on me while I was having a nice run on the Caverna del Pollo arena (for the orb). Fuck that game.

---

Damn it. Is this game serious? I've reloaded my save and restarted the area and it glitches on me AGAIN.

---

Still does it on the third time...

Ragnarok Odyssey is a bad bad game. I'm only on to quest 1-9, every quest is kill 10 X or collect 10 X and there is no online players for early quest, and it seems like there aren't many overall. Also, the gameplay is a little iffy.

Yea, I paid full price and got it digitally at launch...yea. I'm being ALOT more careful what I buy digitally and for full price now. Pretty sure my next game will be Muramasa Rebirth, have the collectors edition preordered and then Dragons Crown.

I went through the entire PS2 generation without playing any of the Jaks, Ratchet and Clanks or Sly's so i'm eyeing those collections to. Definitely have some games lined up for Vita. Then FFX and X-2 HD for fall. The cherry on top would be a surprise KH HD Vita port but then I woke up.

Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery is supposedly out this week:

Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery (PSN Exclusive / PS Vita) – Jacob isn’t one to mix with other kids, he prefers the great outdoors and the company of his parents, so spending his summer with a load of weird kids at Summer Camp isn’t exactly his idea of fun, However, when he stumbles upon the mysterious Bigfoot, his summer takes on a whole new twist. Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery is an episodic adventure brimming with weird and wonderful characters and a host of brain teasing puzzles.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/12/the-drop-week-of-may-13th-2013-new-releases/

It's not a PSN exclusive so I dunno what's going on there.

Let's shoot for platinum and imagine how much more time you can sink into it :D
Yea.... I love persona, but I am going to skip the trophies. I am about 60 plus hours into p3p myself. I am nearing the end! Hopefully I can complete it this weekend. After that, I hope to get into soul sacrifice.

I need a 16GB....

I cant deal with this no more... This 4GB is poison. I tried going back to BestBuy but they were closed today...

No matter, Wait 1 more day for it... Soon..

Soul Sacrifice is holding it down for my Vita right now. Sooooo glad it made it to the States. I want to make it my first platinum.

Fun Fact: I have no platinum trophies. I've had my PS3 for about maybe 5-6 years now....

Ideally I'd like to 100%/Plat every Vita game I buy, eventually.
But then I look at my list containing Let's Fish (terrible game), Wake Up Club (which resets when I format my Vita..), Ninja Gaiden (so hard..), and Monster Monpiece (100 online wins, so roughly 1000 battles total for me).

Maybe in 5-6 years!
Currently have plats for Gravity Rush Soul Sacrifice, and Project Diva f.

Import.
Preordered Muramasa a while back. Looking at pre-ordering Dragons Crown & Ys Celceta given it's likely Ys may only be released in the States.

Hope Disgaea sales did well on Vita would like to see another release as it's near endless fun.

Or maybe never...

Free youself from the tyranny of trophies!

Cool that Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery is coming out this week. I'm interested in it, although I don't like that it's all touchscreen controlled, even the 3D movement.

WTF beat it glitch free?!?

Wait, that Jacob Jones game is out this week? Wtf :O zero marketing outside of the Blog IIRC. It looks awesome tho, if it's decent I'll give it a bite.
