but .. but .. It had Conker, and Phantom Dust, and and, aww man :(

Still have to buy Viva Pinata and Nuts 'n Bolts.

Both console gave great libraries that are varied.

But Viva piñata alone means 360 wins the variation stakes.

its a game where you create a garden environment that encourages pinatas to fuck.

think about that for a second.

Piñata animals that fuck. It also happens to be amazing.

They're very related.

Occulus Rift is still early, but once we get 4k resolutions, better hardware for the games to run those ridiculous resolutions (along with higher framerates), the full graphical immersion will be at hand.

Kinect would allow you to interact with a virtual world the likes of which has never been seen before.

Ideally you'd still have a controller - something like PS move which would allow for movement inside the game, as well as tactile feedback, but Kinect would actually be able to capture your finger's movements in the world, and enable an unprecedented amount of immersion. It would radically change the way developers think of game design, in a good way. VR worlds would be more organic than the abstract methods we currently face with game design.
I still think VR and Kinect can succeed on their own, without integration. Yeah integration would be awesome, but like you mentioned having something like a PS Move or a Hydra could produce a different experience that allows for tactile feedback but might not necessarily be "better" than Kinect. It really depends on the game your trying to make.

The Media Molecule demo was the first instance where I thought PS Move might be worth a damn, that and in conjunction with VR. It almost looked like matured motion gaming for me, beyond cheap "throw this" gimmicks. You might even still call it a gimmick, I don't know if it's even gaming, but they were doing something cool and different using motion controls that explored the way you interface with the game, and that's what I want to see from all of these new inputs (Kinect, PS Eye, Move) and outputs (VR).

In an era with no ads, no Pizza Hut Apps, no bullshit. Just you, Xbox Live, and for those early enough to experience Halo 1 MP - Xbox Connect.

Maybe in a parallel universe.

Xbox had a few dozen cult hits; so does the 360, and a lot more on top of that. Let's just wait a few more years for the proper nostalgia to kick in.

I'm hoping the Nextbox's controller doesn't look too different besides the d-pad and bumpers. They're likely going to have a new guide button as well, since the 3D 360 orb kind of goes against the Modern, flat UI design.

hopefully it's flat, something like the power-on button on the Slim 360. (but not so sensitive)

And hopefully there are no annoying gimmicks attached to it. The 360 pad is good as it is and just needs some tweaks.

What if they put a windows button on the controller in place of the X (signifying the integration of the brands)

which if pressed would talk you to a submenu, but held would take you here

I want a customizable UI similar to Win 8. My biggest complaint about the current Xbox UI is that I can't customize the squares. They're great at making an OS/UI, so I expect the new one to be well ahead of what we have now.

I kinda hope the console has its own UI. Obviously it's gonna be tile-inspired, but still, it doesn't have to be the exact same screen, does it?

*shrugs* idk

I just made that assumption based off of their handling of the Surface, but the Windows Phone 8 OS looks slightly different (to match the dimensions of a phone) so maybe slight adjustments will be made to make it better for big TVs (if it'd need to be), or for some other reason.

I personally wouldn't mind it looking just like 8.

I feel like they'll not throw quite so many tiles on to one screen.

When you're using a stick, not a mouse or touch controls, I think it would be best to be a bit more simplified.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: i just want that ms start to use xbox movie ..under a subscription/season ticket model...and not renting or selling each movie..

a sort of sky go ..or movie on demand with a ticket of 20/25 euro

would love that with their xbox movie HUGE library

this could be the biggest ms gift ..to me

Yeah, it would be awkward navigating several rows of tiles with a controller, especially at 1080p (which allows you much more tiles) :-P

Looking at it, getting from point A to point B a couple tiles away using the Windows 8 interface and a controller would be a pain. But they've probably thought of that (I hope ).

EDIT: Just saw the 360 interface (haven't seen it in years), it seems to solve that problem by using larger tiles and putting less on the screen, separating them into categories, etc. So we should be covered.

It will be like windows phone 8 compared to windows 8.... same ideology and 'feel' but adapted for the purpose and input device.

Hopefully it will have some sparkles too.

after doing some research...

On his CV, a British freelance animator says he is "Currently Working on a AAA Next-Gen Xbox Release Title .. for 2013." In a post on his firm's Facebook page from last September, the animator states that he is "working with Rare … on a new title," but cannot divulge any details due to confidentiality agreements. However, he does generically hint that the game "will be big." Combining these two items together, it doesn't seem unreasonable to infer that Rare is probably making a launch window game for the next Xbox.

The Verge's Tom Warren reported a few weeks back that Microsoft's slate of "major launch titles" included "a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics," which doesn't necessarily seem outside of Rare's wheelhouse given their recent casual, family-friendly Kinect focus.

It sounds like it's all but confirmed lol

Was that "Rare is working on a AAA game" rumor debunked? I love to see something from them that isn't a Kinect game.

I mean, they have only really done 2 Kinect games, And Kinect SPORTS is not a BAD game at all. They created Avatars which i thing are now synonymous with Xbox LIVE. Their last real game was Banjo Nuts and bolts which was GREAT. I am excited for their next big thing.

More like only one and a half, since they only co-developed Kinect Sports 2.

Also, this is the first I've heard about Rare possibly working on an AAA game. Can someone shed some light on that rumor?

ODST was the must fun Halo game.

Nah - not wishing to start list warz but my personal ranking of them would be:

Halo
Halo 4 / Halo Reach (love them equally for different reasons).
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo 3: ODST

Anyway - enough of that nonsense....

IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

Really want to the prices be at the publisher's hand, so he scale up and down as he wish.

Prices are already set by publishers, which is why they are so incredibly high.
The big problem with the digital store platform on console is that they basically are monopolies and have no competition whatsover. This is why the prices are so fucked, there is no competition on consoles.
Much better on PC with lots of different digital content sellers.

What really would be a revolution is if MS and Sony allowed digital content to be sold by third party web based storefronts like greenmangaming, getgames, gamefly etc.
Valve is already doing this with Steamworks and it is going very well. Sadly MS is going the other way by closing their OS into a walled garden through their dated appstore.
Both MS and Apple are doing it wrong, Valve is doing it right.

Man.
Dying for rumors and leaks here.

This time 7 years ago (or was it 8 ?) we at least had a few rumors about the shape of the console itself and iirc closeups of a few details.
