Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

I have a code for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (US) was wondering if anyone had a code for a game they would like the trade for it. I hope im not breaking a rule but i figure i would get a good response here, if i am breaking a rule someone tell me and i will remove the post.

Top of the page: Get PS+ and Sonic Transformed.

Yes, every trophy can actually be done solo too. One thing about the Japanese voice pack though: it takes up 500+ MB, and once you've installed it on your save file, you can't uninstall it. Even if you delete the Soul Sacrifice bubble and restore your save file, you still won't be able to use your save file until you've installed Japanese voice pack.

Wait, I can't *choose* between English or Japanese voice pack if I install it?

Speaking of metal gear, does portable ops work yet in the US? If not what the fuck is the hold up? I'd play it with better controls.

I'm pretty glad that I didn't download the JP voice file. I actually like the English VA, minus the chipmunk part. Everything else is good and I have no idea how so many people have an issue with it.

Also Guacamelee has been awesome. Playing it on PS3 with the Vita as the controller has been so nice.

$9.99 if they keep it in line with the EU price, I'd guess, but my gut says $14.99 with no PS+ discount.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's $9.99 with a 10% discount for PS+ though.

If it's $15 then I'm not getting it. I want to support Futurlab and have bought all their games, but no way I'm paying $15 for a game I've already played.

Hello, Vita-GAF! I'm posting in this thread looking for some insight from Vita users.

I've got an itch to get one of these damn things lately thanks primarily to the value proposition of PS+, cross-buy games, Sony's commitment to indies, and the likelihood that I will be a getting a PS4 at launch. I'm a PS3 owner. Also, I've got a new baby at home and grabbing a handheld might end up being the best way to squeeze in gaming time in the near future for me.

Here's my question: Is there any reason to keep my PSP? I got one for free unexpectedly a couple years ago and honestly I've barely touched it. It's a white one in great shape. It came with Ridge Racer and I've never bought another UMD for it. I've only used it to play two games from PSN (Tetris and Metal Slug) and a couple PS1 games. I guess my real question is - how much of the PSP's library is compatible with the Vita and available on PSN? Where is the most current and comprehensive list? It just strikes me as arbitrary that many - but not all - PSP games work on the Vita. I'm really bummed that some of the PS1 games from PSN aren't playable on Vita. It's weird. But that's probably not a very valid complaint because after looking at the list of incompatible PS1 games, it really looks like Legacy of Kain and FF5 are the only two I'd really even care about. (Don't care about Crash or Spyro.) However, FF5 is one of the few PS1 I've bought on PSN. I just got it during a recent sale and I was looking forward to playing that one on my PSP - I've never played it before.

So, maybe run through FF5 on the PSP then sell it? Am I crazy for wanting a Vita if I've barely touched a PSP I've had for a couple years? Honestly, Guacamele, Thomas Was Alone and games like that look way more interesting to me than anything that was on the PSP. Of course, I can play all those indies on my PS3 already...

Anyway, just bored and thinking (typing) out loud. Thanks in advance for any advice on this first-world problem.

Thought I'd give some of my advice...

---If the only reason you have to keep the PSP is FF5, yeah I'd run through that game and set the PSP aside(or sell it). Two big omissions from the Vita's PSP Store are Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts:BBS, though I think you would have played those already on your PSP if you had any interest in them.

---Here's a good list that will help you get an understanding of how much of the PSP's library is compatible with the Vita and what can only be transferred via PS3. Not sure how complete it is, since it hasn't been updated in awhile I think, it's the best one I've seen though.(NA store)

---And no I don't think you're crazy for wanting a Vita. I also was not a huge fan of the PSP, but am really enjoying the Vita. And if one of the big reasons you're wanting a Vita is for indies even better I think. As it seems the handheld is going to be great for indie games.

I have two little ones at home and it's become very hard to game on my PS3 nowadays so all those cross buy titles are getting the most game time on my Vita. They feel better on the Vita anyways.

Got it. Now to enjoy a very expensive handheld.

Cheers - thanks. If I'm waiting for E3 for announcement and a possible price drop, I guess I could/should be claiming Vita games through PS+ (confirm purchase but not download) in the meantime?

You got the best bundle IMO. Only downside is the low capacity memory card doesn't make sense with a digital-centered bundle. Get a bigger memory card, though, and you are good to go.

Yeah, I'll be getting a larger card. I'm excited to explore it and with the Playstation+ included I know there is a lot to see and do. Also being able to use it with my PS3 and the PS4 makes it more interesting as well.

Yes definitely, you'd have some nice games waiting for you for when you do decide to buy it.

Selling my Preorder code then. Thanks for that information man.

I'm about to uninstall Guacamelee. Was all fun and games until that damn Thule Tree. There's no way I'm coordinated enough to go up those platforms:

And believe me I tried. Can't remember the last time I wanted to snap my Vita in half. I wish there was a demo that had that level only. I could've saved myself the 15 bucks. Kudos to those that found that part easy.

On a related note, is the platforming in Dracula X or SOTN that frustrating? I was planning to pick that game up after playing Guacamelee. Not so sure now if the genre is still for me.

It's funny, Thule Tree was challenging, but I enjoyed it. But when I faced enemies with three different barriers at once, I said to hell with this and put the game down. Guess I enjoy platforming more than fighting.

Try pressing jump and switch at the same time. Press both at the same time, then just up + circle. Rinse and repeat.

There's very few if any areas with truly difficult platforming on SOTN. It's all about exploration and action/combat.

It doesn't matter. Once you've installed it, there's no going back. I don't have the voice pack installed myself, but that's what people have been saying.

So the only recourse for those who have the VP installed if they want to use the version without VP is to restart the game from the beginning?

Hmmm.

However, once you download something it will be free forever to be redownloaded, correct? So the only issue is just the increased filesize, correct?

I'm going to lie and say it was easy. It was very tough platforming. I loved it though. It requires a lot of switching dimensions mid-air and doing special moves to get where you need to be.

New trailer for Mind=0, looks like its taking some Persona 1/Old School Dungeon Crawl influence as well. And the battle system is finally shown! Glad it's not all third person, looks like AA was added since the mag scans. Overall looks nice, like a mix of Devil Survivor navigation, Persona combat (hopefully, saw no hints of the press-turn systems), and the Visual Novel style interaction both games feature.

I'm testing out that theory right now. I just got to wait for it to finish downloading now.

I know, right? It's the one I'm currently playing as well. It looks quite better than on the PSP.

And the fact that I can have all main FF from I to IX (and soon X and X-2) on my Vita also helps. ;)

It's a shame that the PSP FF collection for I & II doesn't work on NA Vitas (I think).

First to quote gets a US digital code for Playstation All-stars Vita.

Please don't quote if you plan to resell it or give it to someone else, I'd prefer to give it to an actual Vita owner who wants to play the game :D
