But it will be a new generation, new users, new things. Xbox Live Silver/Free was born thanks to current generation, new generation, new things (I guess).

It wasn't free on the first Xbox either. In fact Live fees have gone up from $49.99 to $59.99, all while MS continues to announce the growth of members.

All the while adding features. Which is what they'll do this time.

It's even less likely to be free when they are going to use it to entice people to the subsidised version.

For the new UI, I'd expect fairly accurate and full voice control. For Kinect, I'd like the ability to push buttons with a flick or forward motion, and grab stuff if the sensor is precise enough now.

Navigating menus with current Kinect is awful.

I'm so excited about what the Kinect 2.0 can do, just on the UI side. I think it's going to be one of the biggest factors if Microsoft successfully combats Apple in the "one box, all entertainment" future, along with the advantage of legit console games as well. Apple's trying to do a better experience with the alleged Apple rings, but Kinect 2.0 will have the advantage of requiring nothing to control the UI.

If the accuracy is there, and they make a great UI, it's going to be a game-changer in terms of being an all in one entertainment box.

Yeah, they are not going to spend an hour talking about another version of the 360.

Hopefully they show Xbox360 Mini. I'm more excited for that than Durango.

Paul Thurott doesn't think this is happening after all (neither does Pachter...); I could be interested in a mini, based on price, but at this reveal I'm MUCH more interested in Durango. What it does, what it looks like, new interface, new services etc.

Count me on this too!

actually, it's over 200 pages now if you're on the forum default.

anyone know how long the sony version of this thread was? the really long one that started when Sony announced they were having a playstation meeting up until feb. 20th?

21 days.

Started January 31st 2013. Meeting was February 20th.

This one is going to go for 27 days. Started April 24th, Reveal is May 21st.

Before the Meeting was held, the Playstation thread was at page 308 on February 20th. That means the Playstation thread got an average of 14.66... new pages a day till the reveal.

It is currently day 21, we're on page 204. We're averaging 9.714 pages a day. We have 6 days left, that's 58 more pages. We'll get to page 254 before the reveal, not bad. This thread will probably pass the Sony one and be more active in the next few days, as the sooner it comes, the more hype and more post we make. and if we get any leaks like the PS4 one did, you better believe this thread will go huge.

This is something Im hoping for. Ill be using the new Xbox at home with my wife and I. So it appeals more to me while I have my PS4 at the gaming pad at my studio.

Wow ok that bubble thing is almost identical to the UI video posted in this thread earlier...so that is probably the UI.

I can see switching to the XBox bubble to play 360 games, going to another bubble for services, and another for current games. That is actually sort of cool.

Expecting the new iteration of XBL to extremely controversial if nothing else. If they are serious about keeping gamers reliant on the system as the "PC of the living room", then the console being a value proposition as a digital marketplace will have to be a part of that.

This would include reward incentives for buying games digitally (20 dollar credit towards next purchase perhaps), better instant availability of digital goods (pre-loading games, good download speeds, day 1 availability), and perhaps even the ability to trade in your games digitally or to another user, so that MS gets a cut of the proceeds.

Then on the services front, MS will need to find a way to have users abandon Roku, Apple TV, even laptops and tablets as preferred devices for streaming.

Having an Xbox app on all major marketplaces (google play, app store, etc) for a mobile control service of the dashboard (obviously limited) would be smart.

Should be interesting

Not that I wouldn't like to see that happen, the reality is that they've had multiplayer as a part of the subscription since they started Xbox. I doubt that would change for their third console.

Plus, on the other hand, it has not been confirmed that PS4 will have free online play either. We'll know more at E3 what Sony's plans are, but it is possible that they will also charge for online play for the PS4. I doubt they would do that since they've set a precedence for having free online play, but if there's ever a time to do it, now is the time.

You mean SmartGlass? That's already out today for WP, Windows 8, Android, iOS. I would bet that they would further improve it for next-gen too.

I think they're taking about the Xbox TV. There were three boxes planned:

- Xbox 360 mini that plays games
- Xbox TV that is a Roku type device
- Durango

The Xbox TV box is rumoured to be on hold until next year but I'm not sure about the mini 360.

Care to link me to that video?

With a mouse, yes...

Kinect for me. Would love it.
Without Kinect I want blades. But I am thinking only truly interacting with the Kinect in the dash which is what I do.

It would require the newer Kinect obviously and if its sticky in its choices that would make it easier. Not sure. But I dig the look right now. Then again I am not in the dash much so a change wouldn't kill me.

Hmmm - you could be right, now I'm not 100% sure which exactly they were talking about. My desire for a "mini" then would be based on the price and whether Durango is bc.

Wow... I don't know what to make of this. It seems very modern (Google Plus, Facebook chat heads), but I'm not sure if navigation will be simple.

Kinect 2 better be accurate as hell if that's the model they're going with. If it's remotely similar to the current Kinect capabilities (slowly move your hand until you get what you want and then wait and wait for it to select it), it's a huge fail. If, though, it's fast and accurate, I want it and I want it now.
