EA Sports Engineer: Wii U is crap, < powerful than 360. No $ 3party. [Tweets Deleted]

What a thorough explanation of why he's wrong. While you're at it, why not include "please understand" and "reggiewitharmsopen.jpg" in your post?

Only by blind Wii fanboys.

Wonderful argument. I guess you love to get your opinion dismissed by getting called a "hater", right?

bit harsh.

I think a fair point is the lack of power. it is pretty crap that we're arguing as to whether it might be equal to or better than 8 year old kit.

It should have blown that kit away really.

Times like this are when we need Yamauchi and Howard Lincoln back in the helm. You think they would stand for shit like this? lol.

Oh well.

Yamauchi would hurt Japanese support, they need Howard Lincoln back though.

Edit: My prediction is they will do this to Sony one day, especially if EA and Microsoft get all chummy this gen.

These tweets show that Nintendo rely too much on the Mario franchise.

When a person within the industry makes dumb generalizations about your company, it's time to rethink your strategy.

Nintendo, time to give Mario a rest.

lol @ the posters trying to be insightful and posting meaningful shit, this thread won't calm down for at least a week lol

His first tweet (besides the 360 comparison, not sure about that) is completely spot-on. Anyone that denies it... I dunno what to tell you...

Same here. Nintendo succeeding without EA would do tremendous damage to EA, and I assure you that Nintendo will succeed.

...In...?

3rd parties without EA on-board? No. Certainly not with their current apathy about the current 3rd party situation they're fostering.
First-party (read: Nintendo only) sales? Maybe
Console? Outlook Hazy, shake me in two years.

The only things he said that were true is that the Wii U's online store is bad and it is less powerful than the 360 in (most) technical aspects, although it can be argued that it is more powerful in some aspects.

The tablet is not weird or even a negative. For dual screen use that is debatable, but for off screen play it is extremely convenient and handy. I have had many circumstances where someone else needed the main TV and I could just switch to the tablet. Or, if I was sitting outside drinking coffee on my porch in the morning I could pop out my Wii U tablet and play some console quality games. Its a great idea for those aspects and its not "Weird" or gimmicky as others would say.

He is also ignorant for saying that "Doing a sega" is their most viable option, considering the 3DS is doing relatively well and they are actually profiting. Not to mention that going third party would drastically decrease their revenue flow and they would not be able to deliver anywhere near the same variety of first party games, mid-teir games like Xenoblade, Pushmo, and Pikmin simply would never come out anymore. Not to mention that more than likely they could no longer take risks on 3D mario games, resulting in a loss of quality.

Also, he said that "only mario and zelda make money" on Nintendo platforms, which is extremely false. Other games like Metroid and Pokemon also make lots of money. Metroid Prime 3 sold almost 2 million units, which isn't small. Pokemon Black and White sold almost 15 million units. Not to mention Super Smash Bros.

Going third-party would also cut operating expenses by a huge amount: It may be a sensible option, supporting ailing hardware isn't necessarily the best course of action. That's why not every publisher is selling their own console platform.

Not sure I follow. What part of what I said was "rose tinted". It's all true isn't it?
He most likely wanted to use that pic in a Nintendo thread for ages. WiiU is not even one year old so there's no nostalgia to be had (for an underperforming system with no "classics" yet no less), but hey, he tried.

I don't get peoples blind love and adoration for products and companies. Some will fight to the death to defend a corporation that is only out to make money off your dime. Fucking coo coo for cocoa puffs if you ask me.

I'm 30 years old. I grew up playing nintendo games and owning their consoles. I never bought a Wii and won't buy a WiiU, why?

Because I'm not dropping $250 to play a mario or zelda game once every 3-5 years. I'm a consumer of reasonable intelligence and the sale rates of the WiiU (and the Wii in the last few years of it's life) tell you that people aren't getting fooled by Nintendo again. If you are going to sell hardware that is inferior technologically, you damn well better put out a slew of great titles to support it.

So what does the Wii sales rate make you? A rather ignorant consumer?

I don't know about some fanatic Nintendo fans, But I sure as hell don't have some form of blind love for Nintendo. I just happen to enjoy the majority of games created by Nintendo, and I happen to think they are still one of the best developers in the industry (and looking at the review rate for Nintendo titles, I'm obviously a consumer of reasonable intelligence hardy har har). I'm getting really tired of this "coo coo for cocca puffs" mindset towards people liking stuff that you don't. Stop trying to act like you are somehow better then someone else and try to realize that different people like different things (who would of thunk it).

I would say grow up, but hey look your 30 years old!

When he said "only mario and zelda make money" he's not just talking mario and zelda, he means all 1st party nintendo titles. Hes not entirely correct though as some third party titles do sell pretty decently on nintendo systems.

at this point i am wondering if this is some kind of ploy by ea and ms to slander wii u. for those who dont know, ms and ea are about to partner up for xbox durngo

ea hasnt said a word about ps4 either and respawns fps is xbox exclusive

Going with Microsoft would be the best decision for EA. Like I said before, and I don't mean to be jaded in this, but the dudebro market is Microsoft's market. EA fits there perfectly. More power to them for that.

Are these people saying "Lol why do fanboys defend a company!" pretty much implying that one can't disagree with what this guy said?

I think the only "hard fact" here is that WiiU is underperforming and of course that reflects in poor sales for 3rd parties.
It certainly is the dominant narrative. It's interesting to watch but I don't think Nintendo can do much to change the perception of the Wii U even if it starts to sell. This first year will most assuredly define all discourse surrounding the Wii U for its existence.

I doubt hes getting fired over this, and he shouldn't.

Well he probably wasn't, but I bet he does now with those game sites all posting the story as if EA came out and said it lol. Thats the problem with repping your company on your private accounts.

worried about EA pulling off support. but mostly worried about how much bad press nintendo will get anything they will do in future.

Actually they tend to speak better english than native speakers :p

This is very true. I'm actually Turkish and grew up only speaking Turkish until I was in grade 3. I had to take ESL classes. I think that's why I grew up into such a grammar-Nazi (on occasion, and never to win actual arguments, I swear!). Maybe it's because I was so very determined to learn English that I never accepted mistakes from myself, and thus I instinctively get annoyed when I see others make mistakes.
