EA Sports Engineer: Wii U is crap, < powerful than 360. No $ 3party. [Tweets Deleted]

Why are fellow GAFfers saying that if he gets fired it would be because of NeoGAF? In here there are only a couple of people discussing what he wrote.

It was he who wrote, then deleted, then deleted his info on his profile regarding his job at EA. That decision was even worse in my opinion.

Ofcourse EA can't compete with a company that offers true value, and true single player, and non of that crap dlc and drm stuff. Of course they will run and hide.

This is just insane to have an employee for a major publisher talking about a veteran console manufactuer like that. Just wow.

Veteran or not, they shouldn't be given a free pass about their shortcomings. It's called accountability.

*Reading from journal*

Nintendo's Journal. May 17th, 2013: Game cases in alley this morning, tire tread on broken discs. This EA's afraid of me. I've seen it's true face. The games are extended DLC's and the games are full of blood and when their greed finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the Gamers and Journalists will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "No."

This......this is just amazing.

As a company, Nintendo is absolutely no better. By far the most cynical, anticonsumer platform holder.

No Nintendo doesn't make people pay for online in 2013.

None of them are great, is Nintendo perfect? Far from it, but is Nintendo a horrible company? Of course not.

Phony outrage and professional victims UNITE!! I love the "unprofessional" comments. Have you people ever worked ANYWHERE?!! CEO's, CFO's, managers, presidents etc. spout this shit on a daily basis. The politicians in our country and around the world destroy each other on live television in debates. Why the Southern Belle attitudes every time someone says something that's pretty tame (and where 90 percent of this site agrees with). We bitch when "no one comes out against gaming companies" then we bitch when they do. Too many sniveling pussies sitting in a dark room thinking they have the power to dictate what is offensive and what isn't. The thing is NO ONE was offended, outraged, disgusted by these comments. We've just morphed into a society that HAS to have a knee jerk reaction to anything we may perceive as being controversial or "offensive".

If I posted comments on twitter trashing a certain software company we are partners with (who drive me insane on a daily basis), I'd get fired in a heartbeat.

I don't think he should get fired for this, but he obviously needs to rethink his tweeting habits.

"Stop giving us pr bullshit and give us a real reason for why you're not making games for the Wii U, EA."

Later

"This guy's an asshole for telling us the real reason."

I will never understand why people get upset when someone from one company makes fun of another company.

If this seriously happened, then wow this whole situation has been completely overblown by everyone. Guy didn't deserve it to happen regardless of what you think about his comments, losing your position after 14 years at a company due to some Twitter messages, damn.

Moral of the story: don't post inflammatory things on Twitter with your job attached to it.

Agreed. They completely screwed the pooch in that regard. As for the rest of the post, that's true pretty much for every non-Nintendo focused forum on the Internet. For the most part (and forgive my generalizations here), you either like Nintendo, or you revile them. Being a Nintendo fan on a video game forum is an exercise in patience.

Well, yeah, it does seem kind of bi-polar regarding Nintendo especially, but GAF shits on nearly everything, almost like every missed opportunity or design flaw is assumed to be a direct insult on the honor of GAF members. It's hilarious, and if I were a game designer I wouldn't pay much attention to it, because no matter what you do it will be ripped, until several months or years later when it becomes safe enough for people who secretly liked something to come out and call it underappreciated.

Sucks if he loses his job but it is what it is in this day and age

The advent of social media has led to companies etc. hammering people in the head about not opening their mouth online and saying stupid things.

I'm not sure whether he's going to get fired over this. He's been at EA for more than 13 years now. And he's saying pretty much what most people seem to think.

Yikes on a day that should have been pretty good for Nintendo with their Direct, it turned out to be a nothing short of a small disaster for the company, all starting off with the aftermath of no EA support, continued horrid WiiU NPD numbers, the GI.biz article on the apathy towards the machine and how bad the best selling game currently does in the UK. And then to top it off we get a tirade from an EA employee.

Boy, what a day!

I don't know what it is about Wii U Nintendo Directs, but the when they occur, there seems to be an epic aftershock that rolls in subsequently.

This really reminds me of the same sort of thing that happened after the 'X' Wii U Direct.

they did not have to run the story so they should take the blame :)
we were just talking about what we always do after a Nintendo Direct
how Wii U is less powerful than 360 yada yada

Its the guys own fault for making it public. IGN isn't going to disregard news just because one guy made a potentially dumb decision and it might hurt him.

Sucks, despite knowing all this; soon as Smash Bros, 3D Mario and Zelda are released I'll be the first one holding my debit card in front of a retail cashier... :( help me gaf

Legendary tweets. The man speaks the truth.

Except for Zelda selling. Zelda/Metroid do not sell.

Zelda doesnt sell? ummm ok selling 3-6 mil isnt selling anymore, every game doesnt have to sell like COD. I guess Uncharted and Killzone doesnt sell too right?

Ofcourse EA can't compete with a company that offers true value, and true single player, and non of that crap dlc and drm stuff. Of course they will run and hide.

I think it has more to do with a lengthy generation of having to downgrade their games graphically to suit a platform with a different interface, and now looking at the prospect of having to do that again isn't appealing in the slightest.

The EA sports titles on Wii were never going to sell the way they did on PS360 because nobody really considered them the "real" Madden. Since Wii U can't do PS4/Nextbox level graphics, it'd be a repeat of last gen.

Yeah that is fact! Twilight sold more than 6m..

Not sure if srs. That was the last Zelda game that really sold well, and it was riding off the hype of 'zomg realistic next-gen Zelda' that had been building for what, 4 years?. And even then 6 million is relatively pitiful compared to the other Nintendo franchises on Wii.

Skyward Sword MAYBE cracked 2 million. The DS titles didn't do too hot. Zelda is not among the best-selling Nintendo franchises/series. All about da Mario and the Pokeymans.

I think his post was more of a social commentary on how pathetic and knee jerk everyone has become in the social media age. The tweets were stupid from a professional standpoint yes, but should they cause a reaction like this? No.
