Lets get this straight.
The best info we have on Durango is from specs leaked from and early 2012 devkit and the work Thurrott is doing WITH Microsoft where he's 'price signalling' and they use social media monitoring to gauge reaction.
Hence the $299 with $10 a month comment.... then "oops" I meant $15 a month with $299.
(those tools are really powerful - they let you see the number of mentions, by demographic and whether the conversation was generally negative or positive).
Anyway... I digress.
The best info we have is basically all from the Superdae leaks and even he said they are old.
Its amazing how locked down MS are... and its making that Edge article (and, yes, my own opinion of their actions), saying they have messed up by being silent, look a bit silly.... the hype is off the hook.
The only fear I've got right now is that the feeds will fall over on the day - The PS4 one was horrendous everywhere I tried to watch it.
I feel like they might be about to really nail this... the fact that they have started some fairly confident tweets suggests that.... sure, they are never going to say "yes, temper your expectations" from their own mouthpieces... I dunno... just think they might have nailed it.
why?
Because the PS4 is the result of Sony starting with "how do we fix what was broken when we launched our last console and ensure we don't back ourselves into an engineering corner" - they've been very honest about that... Whereas MS will have come to this with forward looking goals - heating issues aside, the 360's hardware was praised from the roof tops by devs.
