The difference lies in its a competitive social game, it's very cooperative in nature. It's also a game with great appeal in the competitive scene. Some of the pro teams has over 100k+ subscriber on youtube and 567k people watch TI2 grand finals.

Different Strokes for Different Folks.

With 12m per day players not everyone can be super competitive. LoL isn't some niche hardcore game. The gameplay has mass market appeal.

WPRT = WinRT without PC Windows specific APIs (because they're obviously not needed on a Phone, it's the reason it takes very little effort to port a Metro game to WP8). Regardless Xbox isn't getting Windows 8 as there is no need for a full blown desktop OS.

Lay out some aspects that you think would change and then if an announcement comes, we can tally it up :P The big change would be moving to direct control, but in terms of what's actually being played, I think it'd remain essentially intact.

-Movement
-Camera control
-targeting/mouse over (changes to LH and denying. Good luck trying to accurately target one specific creep in a clash)
-Streamlining item purchasing/teleporting skills (because it's online you can't pause while doing which means they'll have to figure out someway for players to do the aforementioned quickly/as quick as a KB/M user can so they're not roffletrucked while playing.)

If you want to moneyhat LoL from Tencent, you have to consider how to make these aspects work.

So everyone plays at that level? I find it hard to believe there are not more casual players.

edit: btw the social and video sharing aspects play right into the philosophy of the next gen consoles.

Omg this thread got boring! Wish we would get a leak or 2 to put it back on track.

I'm going to punch out and check back in later. Hopefully things improve in here.

:P

None of those really strike me as the instant gratification point you were making... just about making sure the menus and UI work with a controller instead of a mouse. Obviously they're not going to dump it in Terraria style and have the right stick be a cursor nub. Throw a few skillwheels in and the purchasing/teleporting problem is resolved. The targeting will obviously be a little less precise, but it still leaves plenty of room for a skill-spread to develop amongst the players.

I googled "leak" to try and find you a humorous image, but instead I found this

Somebody should Ballmerise it.

Casual people watch streams and follow competitive scene much more than other genres. That's my point. I'm essentially arguing on this appeal that could be missing for Moba on consoles because certain regions might reject it. I didn't say it won't work on console or attract console players.

Fair enough. I think if LoL fails on consoles, it'll be due to clunky controls, not a lack of a competitive scene (which could exist anyway).

Alan Wake sub-HD.

I laughed.

I'll put the same reason as you that working controls is far more important than competitive scene. The thing is the statistics from Riot is 5M concurrent users and Tencent in my opinion is very aggressive and protective of the chinese market.

What other negative stuff can we talk about to keep the thread going?

Month long network crashes and 77 million oopsies?

Thank god I was a single player fan and had no info worth taking...same still with my Vita

Wife is actually playing Chrono Cross right now.

Anyway...waivering off subject myself now. I would LOVE a new Alan Wake. I double dipped on my 360 and PC.

What's with all this League of legends talk? Still surprised this hasn't been attempted on consoles yet. I know there is a shoddy XBL arcade game but that doesn't count. If some big time dev worked hand in hand with Microsoft on a console MOBA game it would be huge. HUGE
