Xbox One is huge

As requested

You got me hahaha sheeeeeit

I quite like the design, and don't care about size (have plenty of it)

Don't like the rest (underpowered, no used-games, etc)

I don't think it's internal. That power connector looks weird and proprietary and in the internal shots on Wired you can see that it goes straight into the motherboard.

You are right about that it does go into the motherboard so on top of having big foot over there we gonna game a damn big brick lol

The design looks meh, nothing that stands out, but the size was the first thing that I noticed, it looks huge

At a time when TVs are becoming slimmer with bezel-less designs, why the hell would anybody want that hilariously ugly Kinect thing above it? And yes, the console looks like a step back from even the original Xbox. It's huge and - in my opinion - ugly like a Chinese generic brand PC desktop case.

It certainly isn't 'cool'.

In that picture it is way closer to the camera looking a lot bigger. Look at the controller.

yeah its big though, but that OP pic is deceiving.

yeah it is deceiving. at first i thought it was huge also. then i saw those wired shots that show it from directly above. it is like two "controllers" deep. not as big as that pic makes it look.

When I first saw it, i saw a small shot of it in Engadget's home page and I swear I thought it was a Verizon Motorola STB. I'm sure the PS4 may not be much better, but the Xbox One is less appealing to look at than the OG Xbox.

At this point, couldn't you have just redone the OG Xbox looks?

It wouldn't look so bad if it wasn't as deep, I guess it doesn't matter once its under your TV I'm not guna notice its size.

The size of the Kinect makes me wonder how people are going to integrate into their TV setup. All it needs is a speaker on either end and the damn thing could act as a soundbar.

I don't know. Looking at the controller next to it makes it seem like it's actually not as big as I thought it would be. Looks like one half is the size of the controller.

I've seen this design before....

(picture of NES toaster™)

Actually, the NES was purposely designed like that to fit in with electronics like VCRs. The goal was to make it more attractive to Americans who were in the middle of a video game crash.

I wonder if MS purposely designed the One this way for the same reason (minus the crash, of course).

Using the picture with the internals showing, and comparing the blu-ray drive to a standard blu-ray drive, I've come up with dimensions of ~34cm wide and ~24cm deep.

If that's accurate then that makes it wider than both the 360 and the original Xbox but not quite as deep.

Someone with more time could probably work out more accurate dimensions from the slot size or the size of components on the back of the console.

With the size of that thing I now understand why Sony didn't reveal their actual console, they wanted MS to take the brunt of the 'Huge Ass Console' abuse.
