Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

javier jaguar can suck my ass drink box, fu guacamelee, i am about to break this Vita in half...

Thanks for the support lol.

Is there any strategy to this one, half his shit seems unblockable/rollable through, I spent way too much time trying to beat this last night only to get his health down to 1/3.

Seriously though this Vita is about to be 2 smaller Vitas...

Top of Page Recs:

Persona 4 Golden (Even though I haven't made it more than 30 minutes in since I bought it...)
Uncharted
Guacamelee (Despite my frustrations and cheap ass J.J., DAMNIT!)
Hot Shots Golf
Trials Motorbike game
I bought about 20 games, this thing is great. (More MGS Kojima)

Guys whats the general opinion on the Vita Silent Hill game? Played the demo and it wasnt that bad. Hows the final produtct?
I think you'll have a hard time finding someone who's played it. Rarely gets mentioned. I know it received a large patch a few months ago. :-\

Sup yall,

Quick question.

Anybody ever use the multimedia features of the Vita? Any movie watchers? How viable is it due to limited Mem Card space?

The PSP was pretty popular as a MP3 player back in the early 2000's. Does the Vita carry the legacy?

Email users? Social App users? I love how its such a capable device, just tryna maximize the usage

I just wanted to add that the Youtube app is really quite good. With the latest update they even managed to reduce its memory print so you can keep using it while you're playing a game. Think about playing some game and suddenly being stuck - within seconds you can pause the game, watch a guide on Youtube, and jump back into the game. It also supports all your subscriptions and so on.

Also, thanks to the browser (which also works quite well since the last update) it's really easy to watch, e.g., Giantbomb videos, and you can also quickly download videos and podcasts.

Man I would fucking KILL for a PSP RPG sale.

Hard to go back to my original psp with it's fucked up scratched screen to play these games, but paying 20-30$ for a game I can find for 10$ used is not acceptable.

I loved it, the demo pretty much represent the (pre-patch)final game that has some more nice things though.
Imo the game has a great atmosphere and is really original, the ingame graphics are not bad at all(close-ups instead... well they are really rare).
The patch heavily modified some things in the game, now when you die you are instantly teleported to the beginning or to the savepoint with no loadings and without losing your progress, but all your stuff(medikits, repair kits, bullets keys) remain where you died, ala demon's souls, so you are forced to return and take it back.
The hated(not by me, i love them) poison traps are now less lethal and there are other little variations.

Thank you and everyone else for the replies. Still thinking about it, I liked the demo and need something that appears like a dungeon crawler now haha! But still dont know if I should get Silent Hill for $29 or maybe get Oddworld and Thomas was Alone for a bit less.

I don't have oddworld but everyone say that is great, i'm probably one of the few saying that thomas was alone is not that great, imo the game is too simple, short and repetitive with no great strokes of genius, i don't appreciate a game only for some well written lines of text(that i could not even read well because sometimes they disappear quickly).
I was more i impressed by knytt underground that become one of y favorite games, but it's not for everyone(there are no fights and the few enemies are more like moving obstacles).

Tearaway looks beautiful. Picture posted on the Tearaway Facebook page, so it's a bit compressed.

So nobody knows what the deal is with Velocity Ultra? Everything I find says it's already out. It's even on the Sony store website, but when you login in it vanishes.

Hm. Well try not to get hit^^If your aren't if you can hit him with getting hit by him, than back off.
Are you trying it on hard?
I don't remember trying so often on normal mode, but on hard mode it took me about 40mins to beat him.

Damn. I really like Rymdkapsel's style, minimalistic graphics and music is great and the game itself has tons of charm, but I find Vita a bit bulky for holding it in a way that allows for comfortable touchscreen-only gaming. I think I'd enjoy it way more if it allowed for regular button controls. The fact that you spend half of the game covering the screen with 4 fingers becomes really annoying about 10 minutes into the game.

Got my capture Vita today. He mailed it from Japan on Monday. Updating firmwares and stuff, but I will be livestreaming later tonight hopefully

That...is...gorgeous......

I want one just so I can have that beauitful blue Vita...streaming would just be a bonus :D

But seriously, wow. I apologize for the ignorance, but I am fairly new 'round these parts. Where will you be streaming at?

Hm, I've been thinking about getting a PS3 because I already have PS+ for the Vita and that would mean more games for the money but PS3s are still kinda pricey. The 12GB model seems utterly useless considering single games can be bigger than that. Any other Vita-only users contemplating that?

I am. I'm waiting for E3, hoping for a price cut. If not, there will probably be one in september after the GDC?

I've been seriously considering an Nvidia SHIELD as a nice companion to my Vita.
a low sales companion.

I don't really like the 3DS XL(in the process of selling it). The SHIELD looks kinda ugly, but the controls look comfortable as hell.

Any other Vitabro thinking about picking one up?

Are you looking at the Shield as a handheld or as a PC screen?

The former has the problem that the Android games library isn't great. Games in traditional genres (i.e. those that can be controlled with the buttons) tend to be pretty sub-par compared to other platforms (handhelds and PC, not iOS) and many are gimped by microtransaction-based game design. I have an Xperia Play so I do get to play them with button controls but there haven't been many that kept my attention.

Ain't nothing like an Android device that can't be used in Vertical-mode, and a Remote Play/Off-TV device that only supports a small number of titles through a small number of routers through a small number of Nvidia's own high end GTX 660 video cards.

Because nobody else would make something so pointless.

I'll gladly pick one up when they go for $99 bargain bin though.

Both, I don't think I'd want one if I only wanted it for half of the things it's supposed to do.

I'm familiar with the Android library(and iOS library) and while it's not the best thing in the world there are some good games I've played on there and some I'm wanting to try out. Plus emulators.

@nerdstick
I already have a recommended card and router setup that they are saying this works with, so that's a plus. The compatible games should increase over time though.

If I didn't have their recommended setup already, yeah my interest wouldn't be as high.

I wouldn't mind being talked out of it and saving some money though ;)

If the Vita is niche, then the Shield is like ultra underground niche for about two people in the entire world.

Nice idea, but it's expensive and there's a lot of stuff that holds it back. I think GAF impressions from PAX were that it's not very comfortable, either.

Just save the money and put it towards a PS4, then remote play PS4 games to Vita. ;)

EDIT: Also if you want an Android device, just pick up a Nexus 7.

You can save $300+ by buying a used Android phone to play the Android games you want and just playing your very-limited-anyways library of PC games on your PC. This thing is almost guaranteed to be a failure and drop in price, buy one after that point.

Well, since he said so.
I assume more indie games. This is getting too much for my 16GB memory card. We're still waiting for some of the other good indies to release, too.

...Also still waiting on an FTL announcement, Shahid.

I like niche handhelds and this won't affect my PS4 purchase at all. Though I have been looking at a Nexus 7 as well, I'll look up some more youtube vids on that, looks nice.

Thanks for your input, would be nice to get it at a much lower price later on. I'll take a look at other Android devices, I have an android phone, but wanted something with a bit more power.

I guess we'll see what I decide on in the next month or so.

If you just want to play some Android games look into BlueStacks on PC.

Untold Legends...
Or the overpriced Gameloft dungeon crawler.

Awesome! Can you post some youtubes on every game you have? Or your favorite games w/e. Just want to see what it can do!

I'm done with screen protectors for all of eternity. Can't think of an easier way to mess up and waste money.

Hori ones somehow had glue from the yellow tape under the screen protector, which created bubbles up top.

Hello Vita-Gaf! I picked one up this week and I'm in love. I only wish I bought one sooner.
My PS+ hoarding paid off nicely :D

Oh is Virtua Tennis 4 any good?... its only £7 on shopto
