TB has a NeoGAF account IIRC, he just rarely uses it. Someone tell him to come on here so he can tell us himself why we are wrong!

Edit: hahaha now he is melting down.

Patrick Klepek makes an excellent point on Twitter about reaching out to third parties about this too, since they're the other, counter stakeholder in all this.

Do we have a few relevant twitter accounts for EA / Ubisoft / Activision etc?

I might put in buttons to tweet each of those separately on the letter page.

I would but i don't know any execs of those mega companies

Eh, I'm sad TB isn't helping but I wouldn't outright dismiss him as being antagonist on purpose. I think he honestly just doubts that a mere series of even hundreds of tweets will do anything. Although now he's on the defensive and will proceed to make himself look even worse to people who already don't like him. *sighs* It is so hard to determine what he's going to get upset about or take up as a personal cause.

That said i do wish there was something more concrete that could but done but there doesn't seem like enough time between now and E3 when Sony would have to detail their plans.

Let's get our feather pens, bro.

Hold up! Let me get my monocle so I can see where my ink pot is first.

So he wants us to write a letter? While yes we could do that. Why not tell them on twitter or email them as well?

Hmm. Maybe someone can tweet Notch about this. Sony sent him a Golden PsONE maybe he can retweet this.

Totalbiscuit is primarily a PC gamer so I doubt this whole no DRM thing means much to him. He didn't need to shit on other people's efforts though. For a guy who got popular because of Youtube it's really strange to see him speaking out against talking about issues on the internet.

No kickstarter yet? I think there are enough people here to donate money for full page ads in one or more papers. I think that would get mainstream attention.

If he really thinks a letter that may or may not even get to the right people, get read, and cannot be confirmed of even existing will do anymore than this...then he is a fucking moron.

A Letter and a Tweet are pretty much the same thing in this case.

what a tosser.

I do agree that we should try to reach out to the EAs of the world...niot just Sony.

Honest question. Do you guys really think that Sony has the leverage to NOT do this and that third parties won't dictate that it exists?

famousmortimer has said that this is more of Sony's own decision rather than third party pressure. He said that as of the last time he's heard they're now leaning against it. So people are just trying to continue to push them toward that diretion.

They have 40% of the worldwide userbase, they have LOTS of leverage.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it.

Yeah because Sony are going to read every letter we write. They'll look at numbers and the general points we are making, and that's probably it.

If Sony said they would read every letter they got on this issue, I would write several.

I still have respect for TB after his Sopa video that blew up on the internet and raised awareness for that with millions of views.

Don't agree with him on this though.

LOL. This thread delivers, damn xD

Dear Mr. TB,

Excuse me, but Sony maybe was (b4 walkman) but is not just a Japanese Company anymore. If you ever heard of the definition of what makes a company international you wouldn't try to score with comments like this. I don't know you at all and because it's in my nature I won't be disrespectful, but your comments right there just demonstrate how egocentric your whole way of communicating is. This campagne is not about you. It's about us, all of us. We the gamer believe in a different concept and we disagree with DRM. If you can't deal with it just state the fact. In fact if you read this answer right here.

Yours sincerely,
Voady

I want to say they have the power because they are the platform holder so I'm having a hard time really putting a finger on this.

We've been buying and selling/trading games for eternity, it irks me to see that for some reason these companies can't see that imposing unnecessary rules is not the answer.

Whenever you talk about Total Biscuit, this infamous Something Awful thread thread is mandatory:
Let's get this out here right now. I'm a 23 year old law graduate with an IQ of 155. My political beliefs are liberal and leftist, I listen to Metal and I enjoy violent movies, books and videogames, and I've been a Christian since birth. Baptised, confirmed of my own free will, son of a priest (who are pretty notorious for rebelling against their father's religious beliefs just for the sake of it). I'm part of the Anglican Church of England, which is pretty much the result of Henry the 8th getting pissed off with the catholics not allowing him to divorce his wife(s). We're the state religion of the UK, if you could even say the UK has one, we're pretty liberal about most things, women priests, gay priests, homosexuals in general, sex before marriage, contraception, we take the modern, reasonable way of looking at all of them. At the end of the day, the Bible taught us about forgiveness and being excellent to one another. It had a bit of a round-about way of doing it but what do you expect for a 2000 year old book written entirely by clerical males? It's gonna be a bit out of date, you've gotta read it in context.

Yeah I've studied Japanese for 7 years, the guy is clueless.

If anything they take more note of things like this because a huge part of Japanese culture is to appear "correct", essentially, to the world around you. Like you said, honor, shame, appearances, doing what is expected, etc. are all integral parts of Japanese life.

TotalBiscuit.. wasn't he the same guy who criticized Bungie for selling a $150 lithograph which went to charity?

Not sure why there is a problem with the hashtag campaign, SCE employees will surely notice.

Signed up for Twitter to tweet this. If the internet can kill SOPA hopefully it can save the games industry as we've come to love it. Good job GAF.
