TES VI trailer is now 7. Do you still believe in Todd?

Elder Scrolls Online: launched as a buggy mess
Fallout 76: launched as a buggy mess, borderline disaster. Players were able to boost to max rank in the first week.
Fallout 4: launched buggy and removed key features that used to be in Fallout, and reduced to character's choices to just four options.
Starfield: ...we all know how that went

Gamers: I can't wait to preorder Elder Scrolls 6.

Game launches....Also, gamers: Why is this game such a buggy mess? I paid 250 for the limited edition that comes with a plastic statue and a steel case, even though they just gave me a download code. Why Todd WWWHHHHYYYYY!!!

Obviously you are a false believer who never committed, just like the rest of these false prophets and nay sayers.

I'm off to bed to do my 1 hour praying to our beloved Todd Howard.

Good day sir!

Tinfoil hat theory: They legitimately thought they struck gold with Starfield, but the overwhelmingly negative reception rocked them to their core and they've been scrambling to course correct ever since.
wonder if theyre also like "crap, we dont know what kind of elder scrolls to make".

morrowind is legendary but not a great fit for "modern audiences"... and they probably couldnt recapture that lightning if they wanted to
oblivion was seen a little tardy but still pretty good
skyrim was seen as super tardy but was the best selling by far

do they whore it up and produce another skyrim, or take the risk and try to make another bonafide classic that may not be truly appreciated for a long time?
or shoot for some middle ground thats probably not that fun to develop, and may just get a lukewarm reception?

That would be the best thing that could happen, so I hope you're right. But I firmly believe they can only really course correct by also removing Todd Howard from the director position.

Everything Bethesda has done past Morrowind has been middling, but that's mostly what you need to do to capture a larger audience.

To be fair, covid fucked up a lot of timelines. On the other hand, I personally believe devs shouldn't announce shit years ahead of time. I was just dunking on Atlus yesterday for announcing the Persona 4 remake 2 years early. A year max imo is how it should be.

PS: Kickstarters are an exception, for obvious reasons because they need public interest to get off the ground and sometimes to secure additional funding from non-backers.

I highly agree with this, I HATE they announcing their game so fucking early.

If you have nothing to show other than title card or CGI then don't announce it.

Who cares anymore honestly. They're not the only players in town and some are delivering a better open world experience than they are.

I belive es6 was meant for release in 2022 or 23 but it got sidetracked as many games did by about 2 years after covid. The release wil be 26 I just feel like

I never believed in him in the first place. Bethesda RPGs have always been overrated.

The most amazing thing about Todd is his ability to convince people copy/paste, poorly designed levels, janky combat and endless bugs are all features and "charming".

Should be illegal to announce a game so far in advanced where you're years away from even entering the concept phase.

This too. Starfield showed that their design philosophy for RPGs is still stuck in 2006, while others have surpassed them.

The neon quest line , the crimson fleet quest line , and the ship from the past quest lose all my hope for bethesda . They're treating players like we're a bunch of 12 year olds . The way these npcs talk , the dump fucking logic of these npcs , the solution to the quest.

It's ridiculous. I don't know why this is a thing. Best thing to do is start the hype train when your 7 months to a year away from release. Why do a teaser and still no game 7 years later. Or whip together a fake trailer like Perfect Dark and the game is in development hell.

Zero hype or hope for this. Despite TES3-5 and FO3 and 4 being some of my very most played games on Steam. I don't believe anyone at Bethesda knows why people love the series. The new TES will be very hard to mod. It will downplay if not delete the racial system, which is the spinal cord of TES. UE5 engine will ensure it looks just like every other UE5 game and will run like dogshit. Starfield and Oblivion Remake dashed any remaining embers of hype in me.

Yes! Still fully hyped for Elder Scrolls and Fallout 5.

Going to be the two best games of all times even beyond GTA VI.

And will again be beyond 10/10 games once the mods comes in.

Do I believe it's in the works? Yes

Do I believe it'll be any good? No

Bethesda have spent the last decade trashing their brand by releasing bad to mediocre games.

They're now a shell of what they were when Skyrim released.

It's really hard to say how 6 will go if it ever releases.

They learned lessons from FO4 to 76, and SF must have been a bit of a lesson in one way or another.

But on the other hand, maybe the things we see as negative are actually their intent.

Here's to the next 7 years of waiting!

Fallout 5 will be amazing when it releases on the PS7 in 2036.

I loved the 3 previous ES games, so I'll be buying this one, but I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy it. My tastes have changed since Skyrim came out, 14 years ago. Bethesda has deteriorated. And other developers have entered the space, doing what Bethesda used to do, only better.

Like I say, I'm sure I'll get it. I enjoyed the last 3 ES games too much not to. But I don't expect the experience to be as good. I expect it to be better than Starfield, but that's not saying a whole lot.

After the skyrim release
the graph's been dipping , so it either can go further down or up.
I hope it is up.
Don't wanna see elder scrolls getting ruined.

Yeah I feel that CDPro leaves Bethesda in the dust.

Cyberpunk writing, world building and characters versus the travesty that is Starfield.

I hope that it's a good game, but I'm not confident it will be after their last few releases. Starfield was awful in my opinion and Fallout 4 wasn't really what I expected of a Bethesda game.

it was a pointless trailer. I don't think the game will get released until 2028 at the earliest, meaning 10 years from the trailer drop and a crazy 17 years after Skyrim!

At this rate, we'll probably get Fallout 5 in 2035 and ESVII in 2050!
I think with AI we'll eventually see games coming out quicker

That's my hope. When the next gen rolls round, we'll start seeing developers use more AI tools to shave a few years of development times. I want to go back to the PS2 days where I had multiple games of the same franchise release on the same console.

I don't want to be waiting 15 or more years for each GTA, Elder Scrolls etc.

I don't care how long it takes if the game were good. Bethesda doesn't have a good track record at this point. I think they got left behind the rest of the industry a long time ago.

That's kind of how I feel about Bethesda. For me, they've just been riding the waves and success of Skyrim and prior. That was 2011. It's been 14 years since they've developed a game I've completed.

My previous position was that it would be pretty hard to mess up. Even after starfield, I felt like they just bit off more than they could chew, and elder scrolls was an established formula that only needed to be regurgitated to make a great game. (I think skyrim is an extraordinary game and could go into apologetics over the flaws)

Now, though. Idk. There might be some way to screw it up that I can't even imagine.
